« on: August 13, 2012, 10:40:37 AM »

The wet and wild WiiWare title is on it's way to the handheld scene.

Fluidity: Spin Cycle has been announced for release on the 3DS eShop in Q4 2012.

it is currently not known if this is a port, sequel, or spin-off of the WiiWare title, however the subtitled might indicate that this is a new game based on the mechanics of the original game.

Fluidity for WiiWare, a late 2010 release, was critically well-received, earning a 9.5 out of 10 from Site Director Neal Ronaghan.

I imagine the "spin cycle" subtitle refers to using the 3DS gyro to maneuver the water around, a la WarioWare: Twisted? Might not make use of the 3D screen, then, but the mechanics from the WiiWare game would work quite nicely on the 3DS, methinks. Best news of the press release.

There are a couple of potentially interesting games, but I agree that a portable Fluidity is the best news. If it's an all new game instead of a port, I'll probably grab this one.

Super. Evidently, Fluidity must have gotten more downloads than I thought, if Nintendo is willing to give the go-ahead for a sequel. Very much looking forward to seeing what they do with Spin Cycle -- what could the meaning of that subtitle be?

I imagine LittleIrves is right, and that it's a reference to it being gyro controlled. The game might have players rotating (or spinning) the system around to slosh the water in different directions, much like the Wii remote was twisted and turned in the Wiiware game. I've yet to play a 3DS game which utilised gyro controls and which I've actually enjoyed. If any game can win me over, though, it's likely to be Fluidity.

If it isn't a port/remake then I'll grab it when it becomes a reward on Club Nintendo.

I loved playing through Fluidity, but I never beat it. If this is just a port I will be hard sold on it, but I would totally dig a sequel. I hope it's more stylus controlled than gyro since I'm not into flailing my 3DS around, especially if I've upgraded to an XL. It would be the equivalent of waving lunch trays around. Madness.

I've been thinking about this game today for some reason. Does anyone agree that it might be cool to see the inclusion of liquids with different viscosity? Maybe they could include thicker liquids like oil or honey or maybe even liquids which can be filled with air to create bubbles.
