i would have posted this in general but the number 1 commandment is practically about Nintendo and i couldn't agree with it more.  but this article is pretty funny and a good read if you haven't scene it yet.

General Chat / as i gaze in to my crystal ball

so i was board today and thinking.  whet is the next iteration of the wii going to be like.  i know were at least 5 years off so its really hard to predict.  but with the ps3 having half the wii controls and the rumors of the 360 getting something like that in the future the next generation is going to be really interesting.  I'm really wondering if Nintendo is going to stick to there approach of low horse power to keep the cost of development down.

for the most part i think we can say that this "blue ocean" strategy is working for Nintendo.  so far what hard core games we have out there have not been doing that well but the casual games have been.  and if Nintendo makes it its going to be a million seller. 

i guess what I'm getting at is I'm wondering if the big N is going to go with say the power of the 360 for the wii2.  were already getting to the point where these machines are only going to get better in the subtle details, things like characters on screen and little details like backgrounds and what not. theres not much left to do as far as prosesing power.  then again i said that shortly after the ps2 launched.

Nintendo Gaming / wiiware pricing announced in japan

so acording to ign.com wii ware pricing was announced in japan to be between 5 and 15 bucks per game.  i think this is fair and about what i was expecting.  just throwin this one out at yall.

Nintendo Gaming / what are we expecting out of wiiware

so there have been 3-4 games announced for wiiware so far.  and i was just wondering what people were expecting in the future.  personally i think this is a great platform for company's to test out new franchises on the wii without spending a butt load of money.

we keep hearing about how no one makes any money on the wii except for Nintendo, but this could be just the thing to kind of reinvent the wheel so to speak.  for instance we know that there are hard core games out there that cant find publishers because of the business model that most company's are taking with the wii.  and where as most of those projects are probably dead in the water this is a golden opportunity for a capcom, konami, take 2, etc, to put a small team together and make a game.  if it sells well that's all the proof they need to go ahead with a full project.  really if the cap is 40 megs then it can be done for ruffly the budget of a ds game. 

just wondering what kind of games people want from wiiware.  as well as what you expect.

OK i have been a reader of this site since before the gamecube launched... but i have just started to post on these forums and i have to say... there are a lot of jerks here.

i got a post frozen cause it was a "trolling thread". wtf does that mean. i have a score of -2... what does that mean.


i don't get it i just don't understand any of this.

Nintendo Gaming / my crazy idea for starfox

so i was thinking about this once great franchise, and what i would like to have seen done to it.  i welcome your comments.

first off i would want to have a complete restart. just remake the series, keep the characters but start off new.

second we insert a story line in to the game, a grad one.  one broad enough to encompass many games, yet nothing to grand to wrap up quick in case it just bombs ( you know like shenmue).

third we need to reinvent the game play.  not much needs to be changed here but i envision the game play to be a cross between the wing commander series and the original star fox.

just a few ideas i had to bring this series back.  there really arent any games like this out there these days.  and if you never played wing commander im sorry they were great games.  we just need to get rid of the porn star and mark hamel.

i just want to start this out by saying that i at one time managed a game stop... i was not a giant douche bag however.

me-i need an xbox 360 which one's do you have

gse1- i just sold the last one... we do have ps3's in

me-why would i want that (in a sarcastic but condescending tone)

gse1-its more powerfull than the 360

me-yea but all the games i want are on the xbox... and the only reason i would have to get a ps3 is for metal gear and i dont want to pay 500 bucks just for that game

gse1- there all that price

me- and xbox is 500 dollars... where on what planet?

gse1 no 50

me- no the game price isnt what bothers me its the system price i dont want to pay for one game

gse2- the ps3 is way more powerfull 14x more powerfull and your going to see that all the games are going to start comming out for the ps3.

random customer- plus the online is free

me-i dont play online and the ps3 sucks, thanks any way



now unfortunately i couldn't convey they tone in there voice but these guys were really adamant that the ps3 was the way to go.  and in 2-3 years maybe but until then im going to stick with my wii and eventually get a 360.  i just hate how these guys think that they are the only people who know any thing about gaming.

the one thing i wanted to point out to them but there line was getting long and i didn't want to hold up other people is the n64 was more powerful than the ps1, the game cube was more powerful than the ps2 and in some respects the xbox.  yet none of these systems were the dominant one.  specs mean nothing its all about install base.

Nintendo Gaming / wii and the rts

am i crazy or is this the perfect console for an rts?  i love them, im sure most of you do as well, and there few and far between on consoles.  i would love to see starcraft 2 or world in conflict or even games that aren't nessesaraly in the rts vein but close like sim city or Caesar 4 or something like that.

any how if there have been topics like this sorry but im new to the fourm so i just thought i would put my 2 cents in and see what people thought.
