Well, so much for safe bets. :/ Even most of the games I won were close...

It's funny. Even though I proclaimed Detroit to win, I took a couple "Drink bets" (you have to buy me my next drink at the bar) while watching it with a couple of friends.

I can't lie. I thought I was pretty much fucked, but some how they pulled out the win.

Things worked out pretty much the best they could for me.  Its a shame about Detroit's perfect season going away.  They could have really used it but, I watched that game and they need to do something drastic about there 2 minute game.  It was terrible.

I don't know what New England was thinking after the half.  They won but the First Half was much better play from them.

If I wouldn't of had that 4 point first week I be in the lead.  I hope this week will be the one I break out on.

Congratulations to Week 6 winner Lindemann, and a belated congrats for Week 5 winner Stephen.

It's funny. Even though I proclaimed Detroit to win, I took a couple "Drink bets" (you have to buy me my next drink at the bar) while watching it with a couple of friends.

I can't lie. I thought I was pretty much fucked, but some how they pulled out the win.

Much respect for keeping the faith. My long-suffering Niners-fan friend was a mess for much of that game, and jubilant by the end. As a sidenote, even before the game Niners fans were making themselves visible in public for the first time in a long time. It didn't take much to relight that torch!

Things worked out pretty much the best they could for me.  Its a shame about Detroit's perfect season going away.

They're playing the Packers twice this year. A perfect season was never really in the cards!  :P:

Besides the penalties SF ran a good game.

I'm going to laugh when they beat the pack.

Ah. In that case, they might split, but after seeing their past two games I'm less certain than I was before. Plus, seeing Schwartz's tantrums is fun!

Yeah, not a very good week for me.  :(

Certainly a pretty violent week for the coaches though.

Does this add to Peyton Manning's legend?  The constant comparison is between Manning and Tom Brady.  Brady having more Superbowl rings is the most used argument that suggests that Manning is merely number 2, and it's a very easy conclusion to make.  But when Brady went down a few years back the Pats almost made the playoffs.  With Manning gone the Colts are completely worthless.  A 0-16 season honestly seems like a possibility.

So while Brady is clearly a great quarterback on a great team, Manning is looking more like an out-of-this-world player that single-handedly makes his team of inept nobodies great, but not quite as great as Brady's team.  The Colts are so bad without him you could make the argument that Manning is the greatest quarterback of all time or maybe even the best football player ever!  Could you take any group of experienced football players, slot Manning in as quarterback, and have a contending NFL team?  His absence is proving his greatness!

The PTI guys brought this up today, and I thought Wilbon made a good point when he said something to the effect of "Tom Brady is only the second most important on the Patriots on Sunday. Peyton Manning is the single most important guy on the Colts ESPECIALLY on Sunday." Manning quite literally is that team.

Also, Drew Brees is the fucking man.

I see where you're coming from, but I have to wonder if the Colts would be pretty bad even with Manning. The team is, quite simply, old. They haven't made any great free agency moves in years, and the last good draft they had occurred shortly before we all started drooling about Wii Sports. Add to that how the team has openly and consistently been built around Peyton's particular skillset, and I wonder if the results are more skewed than they would be on a more "normal" team.

I got a theory about Peyton Manning. Indianapolis wanted the Colts to have a shitty year so they can bring in two visiting teams to the SuperBowl and thus make more money for the city.

Congrats to Stephen on his second (third?) weekly victory! Personally, I blame Rivers: if that sumbeech had mastered the intricate art of holding a football, I'd be tied with J.P for the weekly championship. Stephen's also in a three way tie for the yearly total. Thus, NWR mirrors the AFC West in having a muddled picture of the division winner...

Also, to Nate, I thought after last week you'd come back to us...:(
