He injects too much of himself in the reviews. He is also far too reliant on DVD extras and the like to truly form his own analysis. He is also very inconsistent as to how he compares different films and any system that does pop-up is very ad-hoc.

He disliked Goldeneye's soundtrack, stating his reasons, but had mistaken symphonic for "epicness" and epic for Bond. He outright forgot that movie soundtracks complement, enhance and help set the mood of a movie. It does not make the movie.

As a reviewer, he is actually pretty bad, but as a person to poke fun and provide extra commentary for isolated key scenes and facts, he pretty good. I especially enjoy his observations as to how much America sucks in the Bond movies. But as a whole package? No.

I mean, The World is Not Enough, had issues, but to turn around and say Quantum of Solace was the better film between the two? Bullshit. QoS ranks very bloody low in my rankings close to Die another Day which at least had John Cleese and a competent first half. QoS was consistent in one thing and one thing only, being terriblely inconsistent.

QoS abortive attempts to be come more Broune like isn't even don't competently. While I am no fan of the Broune films and the style of action it subscribes to, it does them well within the confines of it's own style.

I can't really rank the sound track since a lot of the time you end up ranking them according to how good the movie was as being a movie soundtrack, it's more about the complete package. However, I do dislike two of openers to recent Bond films, QoS and Die Another Day. QoS is a poor attempt to copy Casino. DAD computer mangled mess of a song.

I wouldn't disagree with you Kush for ranking Diamond's sound track so high since it feels like the final maturing of the Connery era music with all the good bits in one basket. Except the opening song letting it down as there were better songs before it in an otherwise excellent collection.

The Living Daylights is pretty good, but I feel it lacks a certain timelessness. Other than that, it is very to listen to.

Die another Day feels very different at the beginning, Bond is a POW in North Korea for through 9/11 and is brought back only to go Rogue. It starts going of the rails at the Gene Therapy in Cuba and after that it only has the Sword fight as a high point.

I need to listen to more Bond soundtracks. I'm particularily fond of movie soundtracks and Bond music in general so it is surprising to realize I've not really delved into the full soundtracks yet.
 
I remember the sword fight in DOD being the sole high point as well. It's pretty much the only thing I remember from that movie. It was one of the few I think I went to the theaters to see instead of waiting for the rental and I remember it being quite forgettable.
 
I'm at the library so I'm going to go see if I can find some of the soundtracks to take home.

In terms of Bond soundtracks, I prefer "From Russia With Love", "The Living Daylights", and "Casino Royale". Those are the best three IMO.

However, I do love the "Destroy Silicon Valley" theme from "A View to a Kill"... it's oddly creepy, and a standout theme from the franchise as a whole.

I liked Casino Royale but really hated Quantum of Solace. The first one was a very intelligent, well-paced movie. The second one was a series of overblown action sequences.

That's what a writers strike does.  I don't know why they were crazy enough to risk ruining the Bond series's reputation like that after only just repairing it.  They should have just waited.  Instead, they destroyed the setup the end of Casino Royale would have provided for a competent writer and poisoned whatever overarching plot might have been developed.

To be honest it's about time Bond 23 got put on hold. It happened to Stargate last year (MGM's second biggest franchise, according to them) with all the DVD movies being put on indefinite hold so i don't see how Bond, which'll cost several times more, would escape their financial troubles too.

Good news for Bond fans, Bond 23 is back in production now that MGM's financial situation is resolved. MGM and EON Holdings (EON owns the Bond license) announced that it is back on track for a November 9, 2012 release. Daniel Craig will return as James Bond and Sam Mendes will still be director. The script is from Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan.
