The strange thing is that I breezed past it in the original without being killed, and the same on Easy difficulty in this. Had another go at him earlier, and got rid of the first gunner this time, but was then flattened by the tank.

52
Yeah, I figured out that Chaff Grenades stop the cannon fire, but I seem to keep getting run over by it when I move in to throw some grenades. I'm told that if you plant some Claymores or C4 and then let the tank roll over it, it will damage the tracks and it will slow it down. I'm going to try that later.

53
I've been having problems with the tank boss on normal difficulty. The fight seems a lot more difficult than it was in the PSone version...

54
That's the thing with Metal Gear Solid -- it's short, but oh so sweet...

If you look anything like Bridget, then yes... I'll know to bug you for pictures then.

Er, yes, anyway... GameCube RPGs... very interesting.

It's easy to say that now after experiencing the perfection that was Final Fantasy X's battle system, but at the time VIII's was pretty damn good. I liked the fact that it was more complex than VII's, and required a little more thought about what to do for each turn (be it to draw, attack or otherwise).

Yes you can, but you'll need a VGA box to do it.

You equip the bandanna the same way you equip the Body Armour, Rations or Gas Mask... it just appears as an item in the left side of your inventory. You have to actually have it equipped to benefit from the infinite ammo effect.

Final Fantasy VIII was an amazing game... the story was complex and interesting, the world was vibrant and large, and the battle system was a big improvement over Final Fantasy VII, in my opinion. It has the best FMV of any of them, and probably the best ending as well. Squall was a decent lead character, and the supporting cast were interesting enough.

Despite the fact I still don't believe this news, a new Final Fantasy game starring Squall would interest me greatly.

PSO supports up to four players offline via split-screen, in both co-op and battle modes. There is a monthly subscription fee of $8.95 to play online, which covers Episode I+II, as well as the new Episode III card battling game.

Yup, submit to Ocelot's torture and you'll escape with Otacon rather than Meryl, and you'll get the camouflage instead.

Baldurs Gate was an awful port of the PS2 version, which is why many sites marked it down. It has slowdown which wasn't in the original, and it's really annoying at times. Crystal Chronicles is a game that can only be enjoyed in multiplayer with at least one other person playing. If you're on your own, it's absoloutely pointless and dull. Skies Of Arcadia on the other hand has a turn-based battle system ala Final Fantasy, and is one of the finest RPG's to hit any console in recent years -- it's well worth at least 87% in my book.

The bandanna is a very nice item, but personally I prefer the stealth camouflage. It's fun to just walk up to guards, punch them in the face and then watch as they look confused.

That one is mislabeled... I know since I've downloaded it myself in the past. It's actually 'The Best Is Yet To Come', which as you said is played during the end credits (and a couple of other places).

Final Fantasy XIII-2? That's thirteen-two, not eight-two. I assume you meant Final Fantasy VIII-2.

Anyway, Kingdom Hearts 2 would be a good title for the GameCube to have. I remember there were rumours of a port of the original, but the developer said that he didn't want to put Kingdom Hearts on the GameCube just because it featured 'kiddy' characters. He noted that everyone was expecting him to do it for that reason alone, and he didn't want to play up to the stereotype that games that are seen as 'kiddy' always appear on the GameCube.

However, if this rumour turns out to be true, I'll be the first in line to buy it for the Cube. The original is an excellent game.

In that case, I hope someone pushes it off very soon. I still have nightmares about the commentary in the last Smackdown game I played.

Sounds pretty good from those impressions... but then so did Wrestlemania XIX last year when IGN previewed it, and that turned out to be pretty damn average compared to the last Smackdown game.

I guess we'll see soon enough.

This is ancient news. It's most likely headed to the PS2.

Casey: They're not approving old Neo-Geo titles that were designed for hardware made in 1989... Viewtiful Joe is in full 3D for a start, and it's a current game. Saying that Sony wouldn't approve it is just silly.
