Won the tourney again.  It was Horse Mackerel Tourney and I won with a 17.8" fish.  For the first time a villager commented on me being in the lead and all that jazz.

Quote
If anybody has decent turnip prices today (preferably above 100, but I'd settle for anything higher than 34), can I come over and sell off a bunch of 'em?  I bought a ton last week and I'm about to lose my shirt on the deal.

Seems to be the running gag for the week. From what I've heard, turnips were at a record low this week. Mine was 38 on Friday, 30 today. Its the nature of investing, sometimes you just don't make a nice fat return.

Chip must've read my mind when he made this month's fishing tourney the horse mackerel edition. I was stock piling sea basses, and saved up a tuna just for the occasion, then he throws the proverbial curve ball. Didn't stop me though, as I won this time around with an 18.1 incher. Hey, it got me the win, and that's all that matters.  8)

Did ya'll do any time traveling?  Because that will cause you to have really low turnip prices.  If that's the case then they should level back out in a week or so.

Nintendo Gaming / Final Fantasy Legend II getting DS remake
« on: January 14, 2009, 09:21:32 PM »
So, looks like the next oldie from Square-Enix is going to be a old Game Boy game, and from what I have seen, it looks pretty good.  Supposedly Final Fantasy Legend II is the best of the three Saga games released under the FFL moniker.

Ok, it's time for more of "SB's Cautionary Tales of Woe", following up after my "experience" with Serena (whom I still want to murder for being such a heinous bitch)...

I got my town to "Perfect" status last night, but in order to do this, you'll NEED to follow this guide here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/wii/file/933195/54906

Bottom line, remember the GC version of AC and the "acre" system where all parts of the town were plotted on a grid which you could reference by acre A1, D4, etc.?

Although we don't have the grid, the acres are STILL THERE! And to make matters worse, the game is judging you on how well you've planted your trees via acre, despite the fact THAT YOU HAVE NO FRIGGIN' CLUE WHERE THE ACRE BOUNDARIES ARE!!!

And that's not the worst of it: since the game wants you to have 12-16 trees per acre, Pelly/Phyllis will tell you what the problem is with the most pressing acre at the time. In other words, if one acre has 9 trees and another has 20, she'll tell you that there "Are too many trees in some areas." giving you abso-fucking-lutely no idea where the trees actually need culling. You can go out and thin some areas which look too dense, but density doesn't matter: it's purely based upon the number of trees per acre (provided you can run a full circle around every tree). Then, after you've cut some trees down, she'll tell you that there aren't enough trees in some areas because now the acre with 9 has become the more "pressing" issue.

This is like someone asking you to scratch their back but they won't tell you where it itches and will yell at you for scratching anywhere BUT where it itches.

So the bottom line is that you could try to get a perfect town for months of random cutting and replanting and still never actually achieve perfect town status because the game uses a piss-poor system of alerting you to the source of the problem.

I find it rather ironic that the map system has been refined so they could use it to show us certain specific areas, like where to put a new bridge or show us which houses we could live in, yet no one on the team thought to use that same system to show players WHERE the goddamn town needs more trees or fewer trees.

So again, if you plan to go for perfect town status, use that guide. You're pretty much fucked if you don't.

I haven't gone for a perfect town yet, I have been forever getting the so-so message.

This might be helpful.  http://accf.wikispaces.com/Perfect+Town it says that you don't have to have every acre perfect to have a perfect town.

You didn't play with them so they ran away... you should put up some fliers around town with their pictures on them.

Looks like a job for Luigi!

This game looks so fucking ugly in widescreen

You're such a bundle of sunshine there, Mario.  =D

No more mortgage for me.  Now I can save up all my money and be a Scrooge.  Still waiting for my fountain.  My house gets a flag in the morning.  Point day again this Sunday. I have less than two thousand bells in my savings, decided to spend it to get done with paying Nook. =D

I can't play because I don't have anymore batteries.  I have to go shopping tomorrow to get some more.  No AC makes me a sad panda tonight.

Doesn't Nintendo own the design of the D pad they have used since the NES controller?

Darn it.

Tomorrow I'm gonna harvest all of my fruit. So don't expect much in the next few days.

I'm gonna do something similar.  Instead of selling it all, I'm gonna keep one from each tree so I can start planting more where my starter fruit trees were so I can have more foreign fruit to harvest later on.  I will sell the other two and put it towards my final mortgage.  I am now waiting for my fountain to be built.

You know how I know Tom Nook is evil? I just start saving money to pay off a mortgage, then he throws a point day. I figure I could've payed off my mortgage 3 times over with the money I dumped into his points scheme. AARRGGHH!!!! Oh well, at least I made it all the way to gold status.

I spent around 150-170K and got enough points to get to platinum and 11K points to get the Metroid outfit.  Then I spend around 299K of my million bells to pay off my mortgage.  Now I am on the last mortgage, but I'm not dipping into my savings anymore, got to build back up.  I've decided to use the money rock money each day to half mortgage half bank and use my fruit money for the town fund.  Kody the bear sent me an apple so now I have all the fruit.

tomorrow is point day in my town too, lucky for me i have over a million and a quarter bells in my bank for me to play with so I can get enough points to play around with.  Though I probably won't have to spend more than 300K or so.

I finally got the game and gave it some play time yesterday, took a bunch of pictures, some that could possibly be a one time only moment, and guess what...

I didn't save them :(

Hooray for not reading manuals! The thing is, I'd take a picture and looked for a save or delete option, and all that was there was the SD CARD buttong which i clicked on with the A button, and nothing happened. I just assumed maybe it saves automaticaly. When my play session was over i went into the Photo Channel to have some fun with the pics and send them out to a few of you guys, and they weren't there!! Thats when I read the manual and got pissed off.

I'll try to retake a few of them, but they won't be as special in my eyes.

It's is a rather dumb setup.  They should have made it an option to have all the picto's you take automatically save to your SD card if you have the space.  The ability to only hold one picture at a time is lame, especially when you want to save each part of a multipart conversation with one of your neighbors.

something else happened just now on my random late night session (my car died so i couldnt go out, so i'm trying to forget my stress with a nice relaxing game of AC<3), i neighbor said something awesome and i took a pic, but when i went to go save it i hit the 1 button by mistake... boo!

That's happened to me more than once.

I got my first Hybrids yesterday, two Black Cosmos.  Today I got another one.  Still working my way to a silver watercan, which I should get in 3-4 days.

I got a whole set too.  Jingle is just a little clueless, like a pair of glasses makes me not look like Superman.
