I like the capture the flag (shine) mode. And co-op grand prix sounds fun.

Its hard to beat and unlock everything, but easy to play. The races get very easy once you learn the tracks and learn how to kill your opponents.

Get FZero for sure. If you really need a football game pick up Madden 2003 for like $10. Madden 2004 doesnt add that much over the previous year, and you can always pick it up next year for cheap when Madden 2005 comes out.

I doubt it will be called Metroid Prime 2, I mean how many Nintendo made games are names 1, 2, 3? They all have their own subtitle.

I would like if there was a multiplayer training option in the game. think about this. Samus has a holodeck type of room on her ship, so she can upload any enemy that she scanned and then a second player can play as those. Of course they would have to be more powerful so 1-2 shots wont kill em, but I think that would be pretty cool. It would also give you incentive to scan all the bosses so that you can play as them in the training mode.

Of course Metroid Prime was so good that I will automatically purchase the sequel no matter what.

Nintendo Gaming / F-Zero GX Staff Ghost Help
« on: September 12, 2003, 02:31:01 PM »
I need help unlocking the staff ghosts for Trident and Double Branches, they are the last two that I need to unlock. I dont know if there is some technique that I am missing or what. I have beaten all tracks on master and defeated story mode on normal, but unlocking the Trident staff ghost is proving to be very difficult.

I use Frost Lynx G4 which has a top speed (excluding boosting, falling etc) of 1124 mph. I run trident and take the path on the right first since it has two boosts, then the next split I take the right path, then I take the middle track the rest of the race. I boost like crazy and hit the recharge pits with little or no energy, and I finish around 3min and 14sec. I need to trim like 5 seconds just to unlock the ghost, and 15 seconds to beat it. I dont see how the staff ghost can go so fast.

If anyone has unlocked this ghost let me know what your technique is and what vehicle.

Thanks

This is the kind of thing that Nintendo should give away as part of their customer rewards program. Buy a gamecube get one free, buy a game and get some point to order one online. It will be easy enough to get from Best Buy or EB or Gamestop, since they will sell anything, but Nintendo needs to think about its current customers as well. Sure this will help sell cubes which is good for Nintendo, but what about the people that bought their stuff without any freebies?

« on: September 11, 2003, 09:25:32 AM »
Ive beaten all 5 cups on master, and finished story mode on normal. I have beaten a few chapters on hard and only chapter 2 on very hard.

I use the Frost Lynx G4 custom machine which is really nice. Handles nice and has a cruising speed of 1124 mph.

I have unlocked all ghosts except for Double Branches and Trident. I cant figure out what I am doing wrong on Trident since I hit the boosts and use my own boosts like crazy and still finish off by 15 seconds of the ghost time. And my car goes like 100 mph faster than the ghost car. If anyone has unlocked that ghost post some tips.

I defeated the ghost on the first track for Ruby (mute city i think).

I also got the old big blue music which is cool.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:My GC memory card broke! How do I restore the data??
« on: September 09, 2003, 06:00:38 PM »
Thats why I backup all my game saves (except FZero... Stupid Nintendo/Sega not letting me copy data  ) onto a seperate card that I keep in its own case with my games, so if my gamecube blows up, shorts out, falls, it wont take out my backup card.

Nintendo sure knows how to make people feel stupid for buying their stuff at launch.

Hopefully BestBuy or Gamestop will sell them seperately, and of course there is always ebay. Now all they have to do is make a Mario compilation and I will be set.

Just items. There are 99 items/upgrades one percent each, + one percent for completing all of them for 100% (I assume that you get 1% for having all 99 since I was at 98% and picked up my last item and went up to 100).

3 Weapons
charge beam
4 Missle combos
50 Missles (1 + 49 expansions)
14 Energy tanks
2 Visors
4 Power bombs (1 + 3 expansions)
morph ball
spider ball
boost ball
morph ball bombs
3 suits
grappling hook
space jump
12 artifacts

99 items = 100% (Phazon suit is an item but doesnt count towards percent completed until the end I suppose)

If you get all the items minus 1 you will be at 98% and the last item will bump you up to 100%

The percent completion only counts items. You have to get all the misile upgrades, power bombs etc. but no scans.

If you try to save onto a different card it will say there is no memory card, or the memory card has been switched blah blah blah.

"I reckon it's because of duplicating cars from GX/AX. "

But you can copy Garage data over, so just register the car in the garage and you could copy it to another system.

18
"nintendo dis this for animal crossing and phantast star..... "

I can understand it for those games 'cause it would allow you to duplicate items, but for F-Zero it doesnt make much sence to me.

Nintendo Gaming / F-Zero GX cannot copy save data to another memory card???
« on: September 01, 2003, 08:46:42 AM »
I like to backup all my game saves so that I dont lose them since some games take a while to complete. So I have unlocked a lot of stuff on F-Zero and I go to copy the save file to my backup card and it wont copy. The garage data copies fine, but not the gameplay data. I even tried creating a game save file with the same name on the second card and them swapping and doing a monual save and it wouldnt work. Is this something Nintendo/Sega put into the game to stop the copying, and is there a way around this.

Besides backing up the game save I also wanted to load in onto my brothers' mem card. I thought I could just copy it over periodically so that they could have everything unlocked that I do.

When I said earlier that the game was hard, I lied. The game is relatively easy. By relatively easy, I mean that the first three cups are very easy compared to the diamond cup. As hard as the first three cups are they are nothing compared to this one. Crazy blind jumps, roads splitting off and criss-crossing like mad, and Nintendo/Sega must have forgotten to put guard rails in on this cup. Seriously they are very hard. I actually won on novice, but didnt finish first on any track. I just stuck to my strategy of knocking out as many other cars as I can. I cant wait to try the AX cups, but you have to beat all the tracks on master (you have to beat them all on expert to unlock master). This is going to take a while.

Also I found it much easier since I changed the controller set up. I put the brake on Z since I never use the brake. I put the attack to B and Spin to X.

So far I like to use Octoman the best, until I can figure out my own custome ship to make.

The only things I dont like about the game are the interviews at the end of the cups, they are just lame, and that you have to pay to unlock the story mode levels after you beat them. Paying to unlock the cars and parts is fine, but the story mode is too much. Ofcourse these are just nitpicky things that do not effect the overall splended greatness of this game.

Single player is very fun. 2-player is fun, I personally dont like 3-4 players 'cause the screens are too small on my 20 in tv.

The game is very difficult to master, but very easy to play. I had been playing for a few hours and my younger brother (14) came in and wanted to play. I told him A to go, L and R to lean, Y to use turbo and he started out and only lost to me by a few seconds. The game is difficult but the controlls are easy to lean. and the harder moves (drift turns, z-turns, x-hitting etc.) are not necessary to play the game on novice difficulty. As you advance in difficulty you will be held back if you cant master the controls, but the bottom line is the game is soooo fun and soooo fast.

I beat the first two cups on novice and normal, and the thrid cup on novice so far. I'm getting better at knocking the competition out of the race with x/z hitting. Just go for the "Rival" car (the one first in overall points, or second if you are in first) and take him out so he get 0 points for the race.

The half-pipe track on emerald cup is killer. You bounce around everywhere and easilly go flying off the track.

On story mode I am on the third track. This one is tough. You have to be super fast and stay on the track. I have finished 8th in the race, but you have to get first.

After you beat the three cups on normal you unlock the diamond cup, and then after you beat all 4 cups on master you get the AX cup. There are also AX parts and pilots to unlock, but you have to beat the story mode on hard. You get 20 tickets for beating a cup on normal difficulty, and that is do-able after some practice.

I didnt see a license card for the arcades or whatever in my game, is it hidden somewhere? I didnt pre-order this game, but lukilly my gamestop had some extra copies yesterday. What can I say about this game? It is sooo fast and the graphics are great. I beat the first cup on novice the first time I played and got all the way to Mute City (Serial Gaps) before I got completely owned. I must have practiced that track like 20 times before I completed it, with all the jumps. Some of the levels have no guard rails.

The best part is that you get to take out you opponents and it even shows the total number of racers (30) go down as vehicles are destroyed.

You cant even blink or you will crash everything is going so fast, and the 360 z-turn looks so cool, although it is awkward to do for me 'cause of the placement of the z button.

The worst part about this game is that it has ruined me for any other racing games (not counting mario kart of course).

The ending doesnt matter what difficulty. Only percent. Also scans dont count towards your percent so you dont have to get them all unless you really want to.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Cant EAD make decent graphics?
« on: August 22, 2003, 06:48:07 AM »
First of all would someone please post a link to a online dictionary that defines cartoon graphics as crap or kiddie. If you dont like the graphics style of a game, that doesnt mean that the graphics are bad. I really liked Wind waker, and I really liked Metroid Prime. The graphics were very different, but great each in their own way.

Take a new game in store kiosks now (Ultimate Muscle). I personally dont like sports games, and especially dislike wrestling games, but it still annoys me when people see the graphics and ohhh kicky, crappy, garbage. Give the game a chance, play it and see how fast it is. The graphics may not be realistic but the game plays great, and that is the most important thing for me.

You shouldnt say "cant EAD make realistic graphics" when it is quite obvious that they can make anything that they can imagine. You should say why doesnt EAD make a game with this style of graphics.
