General Chat / Journalists Unite \ State of Handheld Industry
« on: April 30, 2004, 06:55:41 PM »
http://www.gcadvanced.com/article.php?artid=1793&pg=1&comments=

PGC's Jonathan Metts, as well as people like Steven Kent and Seth Walker are featured in Journalists Unite.

Also there is the State of The Handheld Industry roundtable... Mat Hopwood of Pocketeers, Apex Design's James Daniels, and more.

Definitly something everyone should check out.

Are you copying drive to drive, or using just 1 CD drive?

It is very annoying to get these messages.  The majority are late at night and when I am away.

I usually just close them but sometimes click Warn.  They waste 5-10 seconds of my day; not a big deal.

Those click links don't pay out much.  1000 clicks and just 60 cents.  Not a lot of money.

Call Nintendo of [Your Region, ie.. Canada, America, Europe] and see if you can get a repair set up.  Nintendo of America is good and you'll get the console back within 10 business days.

Saying "C(z)elda" was good because it gave a synonym for "Cell shaded Zelda" basically.

At least Nokia is willing to take on Nintendo.

N-Gage seems good.  If only it were more phone-like in design.

The full color screen game system, MP3 player, cell phone, and internet device all in one is convenient.  Why should I have to carry a GBA, MP3 Player, and cell when I can carry N-Gage and get all of that?

General Chat / RE:Nintendo Sued For Price-Fixing by FTC (history lesson)
« on: October 10, 2003, 03:51:16 PM »
Nintendo is not in a position to do that anymore.

Back in the NES days, not having your games on Nintendo's platform was a bad hit, enough to warrant meeting Nintendo's demands.

Today, Xbox 2 and PS3 development would just be easier than following Nintendo's demands.

Also, it is generally bad business practice to do something that got you sued over again.

This is a load of lies and garbage.

Nintendo is working on a new console, it is dubbed N5.

Currently the site works well for me.  A week ago it did not load at all.

I hope you guys permanantly fixed the server (or if the server sucks that badly that it cannot be fixed, got a new one)

NWR Feedback / 1 Minute Edit Delay
« on: July 05, 2003, 09:40:38 PM »
I've noticed that there is a 1 minute delay between posts and edits.

While I realize and like the 1 minute delay between posts [it helps slow down spambots], I am wonering why a 1 minute delay for edits is needed.  Often I would like to edit a post just to fix a typo or something, but I don't bother because the delay slows it down.

NWR Feedback / PGC Issues
« on: July 04, 2003, 07:49:07 PM »
Recently, I, and a lot of other people I have talked to are having issues with Planet GameCube, as well as its forums.

At times the site will not load at all -- as if it is down.  In addition, it doesn't respond to ping, so that means it probably is down, unless it is set to not respond to ping.  However, this happens really frequently.

When the site does work, a lot of times there are connection refused errors.  Like 50% of the time I click something [it just happened when I tried to post this new thread.]

General Chat / Hacking Set for Sunday
« on: July 02, 2003, 12:26:31 PM »
Reports of of multiple sources sare saying that Sunday will be a day to look out for terrorists -- online.

It is said that a large number of hackers are planning to attack thousands of websites worldwide over a six hour period Sunday. This could cripple the internet. Luckilly, it is a weekend, not a normal business day, and a holiday weekend. Even so, businesses will be hurt, and it looks like many sites, even gaming sites are going to be attacked.

This will only make PGC's DoS problems worse.  This will really suck for people like me who use the internet a lot.

Who is DOSing PGC and why?

Nintendo Gaming / Younger gamers and the gaming industry
« on: June 18, 2003, 02:55:04 PM »
Electronics are getting sleeker and cooler looking.

Example: Headphones now go behind your head, not over the top.

Example: Notebook PC's are now coming with cool silver chrome colors.

Nintendo's problem was the GCN didn't get a cool sleek look (compared to PS2/Xbox).  Rather it got a cube which isn't as appealing.  That turns off many.

NWR Feedback / PLEASE Stop the Flash Adds- PGC Admins...
« on: June 18, 2003, 02:52:34 PM »
Here's what I get when I go to PGC...

INTERNET EXPLORER 6.0
1) Intersital before loading site.
2) Popup.

MOZILLA 1.3 (I'm upgrading to 1.4 Final when it's ready)
1) Intersital before loading site.

Mozilla's advantage is blocking popup windows... I wish Microsoft would add this to IE, it would make a lot more people like it.

Nintendo Gaming / Game Boy Elite = FAKE
« on: June 17, 2003, 04:49:25 PM »
Recently Spong.com and Nintendojo talked about a new Game Boy Elite.

Well, this is a case where their news is wrong.

The patent is correct... however, the patent in question regards the current GAME BOY ADVANCE and it's linking to NINTENDO GAMECUBE.

It has nothing to do with a new GBA platform.

NWR Feedback / Server Problems?
« on: June 17, 2003, 04:47:11 PM »
Are you still having server problems at PGC?

I'm noticing the media viewer (that thing is pointless in my view, having a straight link to download is faster and easier for readers like me) acting slow.

Also, the forums seem a bit slow.

Another good program is Search and Destroy Spybot

It worked okay for me on another PC that got some crap adware thing on it.

Why you should remove adware:
1) Free up disk space - now, on a big hard disk, or even a 20 GB one, this isn't going to be much, but it's still good.
2) Free up RAM - If you have Windows XP, or if you have under 256 MB of RAM, this is very important.
3) GET RID OF THE ADS - This is the best part :-)

The stuff is probably just hard coded onto a ROM chip on the mobo. The same way a BIOS on a computer works.

Correct!

General Chat / RE: Trivia banning

Obviously you broke the rules.

StrikerObi is a good #planetchat op  (along with RickPowers, Jonnyboy117, others..) who will only kick/ban someone who breaks a specific rule on the rule list.
