May isn't that kind leader and seniority is not a good reason. She is there to kick ass and chew bubble gum. She is the cavalry and she knows that. Her thought process is too narrow, easily out of her depth but she is self aware of this willing to deferrer to specialist. She is comparatively too amoral, I remember her shooting a kid or something. Even if offered I would expect her to turn it down. If you want someone to lead a strike team, you can't find better.

Which leads into Skye who is very open minded but wasn't made director because Coulson believed that the person at the top needed to be in control, to put their foot down with an equally good reason. Not because he thinks someone is the fucking devil. May handled it better. Mack never earned enough respect to be effective, uncharismatic, un-inspirational, so narrow. He has his moments but they are few.

Also season 5 didn't have many people to choose from, SHIELD was all but gone.

If Feige leaves the MCU, it'll be because he's running ALL of Disney at that point.
I'm pretty sure his contract extension ends in 10 figures over X amount of years.. LOL

I'd think someone like him would want to look at other creative endeavors. He could stay with Disney and flip over to maybe Star Wars? I don't remember what the structure is over there or how or parallels to the MCU side.

Actually looking it up, maybe a lateral move like that wouldn't make as much sense unless they were in a rush to replace the current Lucas Films president.

Feige isn't leaving the MCU until he oversees a few X-Men films. He's a big fan of the X-Men and has mentioned it'd be a dream to have them back at Marvel. Well since Disney owns the rights now, I imagine he wants to be there to make sure that series gets extra attention.

Hasn’t he already made the Marvel Star Wars? I mean The Guardians universe is already as rich as the Star Wars Cinematic Universe. And it is only going to get bigger. He has overseen a fantastic Captain America Trilogy, Iron Man Trilogy and potentially Guardians Trilogy.

Plenty of reasons to quit. He gets to go out on top. Do you really think he or anyone can replicate the last decade+ of success? Especially with all your big hitters leaving replaced with far lesser characters and actors you have to build up again after the ultimate climax?

What has happened is a statistical outlier which will regress to the mean eventually. Would be pretty ironic if the X-men sinks him given how mercurial it is while requiring a reboot.

Well, to be fair...he has a chance to do a new beginning and there are still a few trilogies that need to be closed out, and then X-men and Fantastic Four are pretty BIG franchises. What he probably wants to do is get the entire universe built so that any series can go and in do their own thing in that world and it just work. That is going to take time. They weren't really building a true universe until after the First Avengers movie.

F4 is big but has there ever been a good F4 movie? It's cursed.

X-Men could never decide what it wants to do. Is it about X-Men, civil rights or is it just another Wolverine movie?

Also just because you have a universe doesn't mean it just works. That's putting the cart before the horse. Never ever put the universe before the movie. Plenty of examples of failure where even the biggest can fall or never worked.

Whelp, thought I was done with my boycotts, but looks like it's just begun. If I were more of a Twitter person I'd probably start a #FreeSpiderman tag. Not touching a single Sony product until this is over.

There is no announced movie, so there is plenty of time to work something out before they even begin production on the next film.

If GotG can work, then F4 can work. I don’t think it’s necessarily cursed. The first attempts were bad in ways that don’t reflect the property.

For X-Men, you can’t untie it from being about civil rights. It’s whole thing was about being a metaphor. But again, those movies were bad for reasons beyond the franchise like repeating the same plot points and making every other movie about Wolverine.

I watched a video a while back that revealed every previous F4 film was forced out in order for a studio to maintain the rights for the series going back to the awful 80's (90's?) one. Now that the property is back with Marvel, there will be no reason for them to rush and they can do it right.

I don't think that'd be a problem. Paul Rudd manages well for his role. And he's still extremely energetic. But we'll see in all good time.
