This is without a doubt my most anticipated 3DS game. Love me some Animal Crossing. (Hate me for using "love me some")  ;D

On my personal blog I always seem to take potshots at gamers, the industry, and journalism, but I think I'm getting away from that. I'm more interested now on good instances of gamers, the industry, and journalism -- if that makes any lick of sense -- rather than bad. This obviously is not one of them. :/

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Zombi U, I'm warming up to it

Well, I try to stay away from fanboyism and console zealotry. It just makes me embarrassed about the hobby.

Regardless, I'm afraid of this game, not because of me thinking it's going to be Red Steel all over again, but because it looks like a hard game. I might get frustrated easily. But that doesn't mean I want my hand held the whole time, so don't get me wrong! Perhaps I'm alone in feeling that I don't like playing games that are too frustrating or difficult.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Wii U Demo Station Impressions (Starting 10/17)
« on: October 26, 2012, 01:08:24 PM »
Are you sure it wasn't set up for co-op? When I played those levels at E3 one player tilted the level and the other controlled Rayman with the Pro controller. That might explain why he didn't move.

No, the AI worked everywhere else and was quite smart as I helped him through the stage, moving obstacles and tickling foes. The demo was set up for solo. I'm sure I just wasn't getting how to do the maze part correctly. edit: I'd like to try it again this weekend.

I went to a Best Buy after an appointment, and I got to play the Rayman Legends demo. I had a problem with the bonus room where you tilt the GamePad to tilt the maze around. Rayman wouldn't move, and when he finally did he did a suicide dive into some spikes. I might not have gotten exactly what I needed to do there, so that might have been my fault.

I really enjoyed the system. I was in awe for a little moment. The controller is lightweight, and it wasn't marred by fingerprints like I was expecting. Then again, it was facing the back of the gaming department, so maybe it hasn't gotten a lot of attention. I don't really know or can hazard a guess.

General Gaming / Re: What is your most recent gaming purchase?
« on: October 25, 2012, 02:53:36 PM »
I purchased Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone on the 3DS.
The touch screen isn't as accurate as I'd like, but it's serviceable.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Last Story sells...
« on: October 25, 2012, 02:28:02 PM »
The Last Story was interesting to me at first, but then reviews (not just from game sites, but users themselves) turned me off of the title. I can't see myself spending $50 on a game I might or might not like, and renting isn't an option right now.

Some people are annoyed about the logo. I don't mind it whatsoever. Regardless, the subtitle is quite clever.

On the 3DS version of Skylanders Giants:

"The 3DS version of Skylanders Giants is an entirely separate but complementary experience to the console versions, with a unique storyline. And just like the last 3DS version, the focus of the game is on fun and challenging platforming mixed with a good dose of action. We took that formula and ran with it for Skylanders Giants 3DS, creating bigger levels with a stronger emphasis on exploration. It’s also a thrill to take your Skylanders out of the home and on the road with you."

On RollerCoaster Tycoon 3D:

"RollerCoaster Tycoon is a classic PC game, designed accordingly. It is all about tiny details and micromanagement of a park that you can build entirely as you see fit. For RollerCoaster Tycoon 3D, many things had to be adapted and reimagined for the handheld constraints and audience. Rather than focus on a pure sandbox experience, we agreed to lean more towards a scenario based progression, which Atari believed would better suit the younger audience that they were targeting. We feel the result captures the essence of the RCT experience for an “on the go” audience and a worthy addition to any Nintendo 3DS owner’s library."

On the sales of Heroes of Ruin:

"No, we’re not satisfied with the sales. The 3DS attach rate is… challenging at best and it seems that, for all its promise, Heroes of Ruin did not appeal to enough of the installed base. I am super pleased with what we made and would love to return to the genre one day, but I fear that Heroes did not have enough commercial impact to justify a sequel."

There's also talk of the Wii U and Nintendo's various marketplaces, too. Hope you enjoy.

Hi, everyone.

My 3DS FC is 1805-2338-1133. I go by Phil on it.

The games/apps I use that are online-enabled are:

Swapnote
Colors! 3D
Mario Kart 7
Kid Icarus: Uprising
Mario Tennis Open
Resident Evil: Revelations
Tetris Axis

I tend to play offline more than on as I'm more of a local gamer.
Regardless, I am very active in Swapnote. I check it at least daily.

Feel free to message me if you add me.

If it's allowed, I am quoting this post to get more active 3DS users. Deleted some that I didn't see online in Swapnote ever. If this is not okay (quoting), I am sorry!

Miyamoto says he doesn't like stories in Mario games, but the Paper Mario series and the Mario & Luigi series are full of stories.

As someone said, I'm sure he was talking about the 2D and 3D platformers.

I think this game should be $20 at most. I just can't see buying it for the full $30.

I'm just concerned how comfortable it will be maneuvering a 3DS in your hand, tilting and turning it, while not dropping it. Regardless, I really enjoyed the original Fluidity, despite not beating it, and I look forward to this 3DS version.

I can't help but enjoy the game, but I dig more classic RPG experiences. That's not to say I didn't enjoy more modern RPGs either.

TalkBack / Re: Best of the Wii: Our Top 10 First-Party Wii Games
« on: October 03, 2012, 06:06:53 AM »
I don't have an order for my list, but I would go with first-party-wise:

Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Kirby's Return to Dream Land
Metroid Prime Trilogy
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Excitebots: Trick Racing (greatest racer this gen, imo)
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Wario Land: Shake It!

I have not completed Xenoblade Chronicles yet. A lot of other games on my plate.

One that wasn't mentioned is Dragon Ball Origins. I have yet to play the sequel, but it is an awesome action-adventure game that has both d-pad and touch screen controls a la Phantom Hourglass. Plus it's really funny and a good showcase of the DS system's 3D graphics. I don't even care for the source material, and I really dug the game.

I had my doubts, but Nintendo Land is shaping up to be a quality product. I'm really interested.
