Nintendo Gaming / Re: Wii Update 7/23
« on: July 23, 2008, 05:37:54 PM »
hmmmmm i updated. I did see photo channel now is 1.1-a however i don't see any difference. same .jpgs work as before and same stupid .jpgs don't work for no reason still.

It seems that the photo channel can only display "baseline" .JPGs. I just go and re-save in GIMP with the baseline box checked and they work in the photo channel just fine after that. hope that helps your problem.

It depends on what exploits and character attributes will match up.

I feel that it will be little under a month from the NA release for Brawl to reach its first Dry Bomber-level of homogeneous strategy before it being overtaken by a better strategy about three months later and then another epoch should be reached when the PAL regions start to get their copies. Granted, that is assuming that enough people try to figure out counter-strategies, because sometimes the community may also just give up causing the game to stagnate.

Maybe that is one of the reasons for no rankings of any kind (even any kind of point system like most Wi-Fi games); with no real incentive to win people may feel no need to have to conform to a specific play style.

From what I gather S_B you were, or still are, a competitive gamer so you would also know that most games (excepting Melee for various outside reasons, and sudden extreme epiphanies such as roll-canceling in CvS 2) have constantly changing preeminent strategies throughout their life, and the more people that are playing the more likely new strategies will evolve or change.

EDIT: Sorry Sessha, I was still writing my post when you posted.

I guess this is Nintendo's way of handing out money hats:

"If we are going to give you money it better be good, and the only way we can make sure of that is to be involved ourselves."

That was an awesome stage.

Maybe there will be a way to create it in the stage builder.

The Japanese version of the game is English-voiced with Japanese subtitles, just like Killer7 was...

Wow, that's very gutsy... NO Japanese VO? Is this why the game sold... what, 10k, 20k units total?

No it is because the Japanese don't buy Suda51 games. His kool-aid drinking cult mainly resides in the U.S.

WHEN DA **** DID WE GET KOOL-AID?

I have read through most of the comments and while I do understand the outrage, especially in regards to Ganondorf being a possible clone again, I feel most people are being a little... finicky, for lack of a better word.

Besides Ganondorf though my major problem is that if they were going to include "clones", why not just bring back all the characters? Whenever I talked to my friends about the possibility of someone being cut out they would get extremely upset, while the mention of more clones only got a moderate grown. I also have a lot friends who liked Roy (and I like Pichu), were are they left in this? If Ganondorf is going to be a clone and the defense is because people where used to him that way, but other clones are missing, it just does not make any sense.

I find the roster as a whole to be fairly awesome, and while there are a few characters that I would have liked (Ridley, Takamaru, and Mach Rider as the new Falcon clone) it seems to have enough variety for me to be happy. And why all the R.O.B. hate? He could be an awesome, and in all probability, unique fighter, plus he was an early mascot for the NES (he was featured very prominently in the first commercials).

Here's what I heard.

Supposedly the leaked video and roster are real. The person who posted them belongs to a Smash tourney community, and from what I read they were going to get an early copy of the game. So maybe the reason we haven't gotten spoilers is because they must have signed an NDA promising that while they could have the game they wouldn't be allowed to talk about it till after launch.

...That, or the leakers are massive douchebags.

How convenient, but if there was any kind of NDA it would probably cover all information regarding the game, not just specific parts (it is easier to have a broad cover then to have a pick-and-choose, specific set of criteria), so any info leaked would probably throw him into breach of contract (and if some guys on the internet can find out who the leaker is then you better believe that a multi-billion international corporation can).

This is of course disregarding the fact that a group of fans somehow got a copy more than a week early from Nintendo, who, to my knowledge, is in most cases extremely stingy with review copies, let alone copies for something of this nature.

I am sorry, I just do not find any of these leaks credible at all, least of which that video... oh, now videos. Yeah, that screen could not be faked at all (I am assuming that this is from the same guy, because the all knowing internet said that it was).

Well, none of this will matter in a few days anyway, cheers .

Anyway this is a question I'm not has been answered, do we yet know if you can have a friend be playing with you at home and both of you can get into a wi-fi match either co-op or free for all with 2 other online players?

Well, this commercial does show what appears to be two sets of two people playing online from one console. I do find the commercial's veracity questionable though, because it does not seem that it is a direct advertisement for the game itself, but for some sort of online service from a company other Nintendo.

Of course, there's the fact that the earlier leaked picture was taken from a CRT, this leak is from a different kind of TV, so it's likely a different person.  However, both their rosters match up perfectly.  That's strangely coincidental if one of them is fake.

Anyways, there's more, but I forgot it.

The cursor could have been part of the animation itself, and the fact that the cursor moves so roboticly actual damages the credibility of the video more because the it makes it appear that all the cursor was doing was following a predetermined path.

As for what kind of TV is being used I believe that it is a CRT with a convex screen because I see what appears to be glare in the upper left of the screen and a curve on the right side. It could still be the same TV that the fist screen shot of the supposed character select screen.

If it is more than one person doing this, even if they are not connected, they could be continuing this solely for the , I cannot believe I am about to say this, lulz.

Looks like legitimate video of the default character list.

That is what we have been discussing.

Other questions that are starting to pop up in my head:

Why is Sheik in Zelda's portrait when ZSS is not in Smaus's?
- We have not seen Zelda's official character portrait yet.

Why can no one post a picture of the character select screen with one hidden character on it?
- There has to be an easy to get Jigglypuff (if she is not it) like character who would only take like 10 minutes to get.

Why only take a video of everything except actual gameplay?
- this dude has to have a table or tripod to set the camera on, and how hard would it have been to just tape a match?

Well supposedly the character portraits start to wrap around as characters are added, but thats just what the internet is currently saying.

I know, I was just questioning the placement within it because that is supposedly how the screen looks in regards to the character placement.

I am not sure what to believe right now, but I must ask: 3 STARFOX CHARACTERS?!?

Oh, if that is a mock up of the real final select screen why is Jigglypuff at the bottom of the Pokemon column when Marth and Ness are at the top of their respective franchise columns? She appeared in Smash Bros before either Lucario or PKMN Trainer, and she appeared in the Pokemon games before Lucario.

... or the sticker could just not effect or be usable by Mewtwo.

Not saying he is still in, I am just saying that there is little evidence either way.

Edit: Apparently Marth, Roy, and Ness are not in Brawl, or at least that is what Brawl Central says based on some translated scans (and we all know how good their translation team is).

I just read their translations and the thing is that they are ASSUMING that they won't return because Famitsu is talking about them as if they were a thing of the past (remember Ness? Yeah, he was cool...).

My comment inside the parentheses was meant to be sarcastic in reference to their reveal of Sheik through the falsely translated Coro Coro scans. I find it very funny (in a somewhat ironic sense) that a day after they assumed that Ness is out based on the translation of another scan, evidence comes out that may point to him still being in. Their credibility is really taking a beating.

I would not count Mewtwo out just yet, it would be a logical fallacy to assume that he is gone based on the fact that he does not appear along with the rest of the Pokemon characters when the sticker may simply not pertain or be usable on him.

I am just happy that it appears that there are differences, although seemingly slight, between Zelda's and Sheik's version of Light Arrow.

24
How does one become a prophet? What credentials does one need to have in order to be taken seriously? How much tangible proof does one have to have?

As you can see, I put little to no stock into what so called "prophets" have to say. Even if they are right, what does it get them; more credibility for the next game?

Edit: Apparently Marth, Roy, and Ness are not in Brawl, or at least that is what Brawl Central says based on some translated scans (and we all know how good their translation team is).

You technically do not have to either use or collect the stickers.
