Mafia XXVII: The Mad Science (af)Fair. Day 3.
« on: September 23, 2008, 08:47:29 PM »
On Day 2, DAaa Mandark, a regular scientist was starting to wear thin with the viewers. Desperate to prove himself the greatest and win a peace prize like his rival Dexter, Mandark was doing all he could to support his superiorty. He even displayed photos giving evidence of why he should be listened to and kept over other scientists.

But, it was to no avail. People just don't like a guy named Susan. Even Dee Dee voted against him. Thus, Mandark left the competition and took his love potion home with him. He drank it down in his sorrow and ended up killing himself once his feelings of love for the paper shredder suddenly grew too strong to resist.

Meanwhile, in the night, the Scientist Mafia struck. KashogistogiBoomshakalaka, a regular scientist with an awful name was getting to the mafia. The man just wouldn't cover up his chest. Feelings of jealousy began to rise up in the mafia and they decided to strike. Setting up a trapdoor, they had Boomshakalaka fall into a tub of water where he drowned after his helmet filled with water. Why didn't it stay filled with air? Because Boomshakalaka had created water that was lighter than air. Killed by his own invention.

Again, it was assumed to be tragic. Plus, Boomshakalaka always seemed to goof up somehow. But, this time there were more whispers about that maybe the death wasn't an accident. Suspicion began to form among the scientists that someone may be trying to rub them out.

Would they be able to uncover the truth before it was too late? Let's find out in day 3.

What the hell just happened?  I don't get it.

If the private message was real then Kashogi should have been mafia.  And if it was fake then it should have been DAaaMan who was mafia.  But neither are.

I can promise that I am not Mafia...though I know you won't believe me.

So the only thing I can figure is that the entire private message is somehow faked to DAaaMan.

Anyway, the private message makes it clear they were trying to protect nickmitch and anti-thatguy as townies.  One or most likely both of them are Mafia.

Vote Plugabugz

The reason, most likely anti-thatguy is mafia, he has been alive too long, but he didn't vote against me so I will not vote against him this round.

We are close to getting our first Mafia kill.  I just hope we can turn it around tonight, otherwise it is over.

If you want the townies to win, you don't want to vote me off.

I don't get it.  If Spak sent the message, then why would the mafia kill someone he named as mafia?  DAaaMan had no reason to fake the message, though.  So Spak says he's not mafia, Kashogi was killed, and NickMitch and I were named.  To honest, I've suspected NickMitch, but this makes me wonder...

I'm not sure who to go for, still.  Anyone have any ideas?

Edit:  Alright, Spak has to be mafia.  He's got to be doing this to try to make it look like NickMitch and I are both in the mafia.  As much as I hate to do it, Vote Plugabugz.

I'm beginning to wonder something...ponder something, really, about the odds.

If we vote out someone that's a member of the mafia, things are good, for once.  However, if we vote out a townie, the game is over, and the mafia will choose someone to hit tonight, officially ending things.

There are eight players remaining and 3 are mafia players.  We've got a 3/8 chance of voting a mafia member today.  However, if we abstain from the vote, one of us will lose today, but tomorrow, we'll have a 3/7 chance to find the mafia member.  The odds will be nearly even.  We'll lose tomorrow if we don't find the mafia player, but the flat-out odds will be better than if we were to just gamble and lose today.  What are other opinions about this?

Edit:  According to Khush, the only way this would work is if absolutely no one voted.  There is no "Don't vote" vote, so if anyone voted, with the rest of the seven abstaining, it would result in a death, which could make an easy mafia win.  So I guess that makes my post moot.

Thatguy, you just want to GIVE the Mafia another free hit?  If we don't get a Mafia kill today we the townies lose.

I have been trying to figure out the remaining Mafia.  And the only names I can think of that are mafia are NICKMITCH, Thatguy, and Stevey.

I think that is your Mafia there.

You protected me yesterday, so I didn't vote for you.  But I will change my vote against you if you are just going to throw wild accusations out.

I told you I don't know what is going on with the screenshot but I am a townie.  Not voting is not the answer.  The answer is to vote right.

The risk is great...because if we vote wrong the Mafia wins, but if we don't vote at all it will be impossible to vote all the Mafia out and get a townie win.  (Well statistically impossible.)

Plugabugz if everyone voted then Khush would open the polls for a changed vote.  If no change vote happens, I think it is either a random death or all of the die.  But if somebody forgot to vote that day then it is that person that dies.

But Plugabugz, that is impossible because the Mafia would just side together and all of them vote for a single townie and it would be over.  Ties go to the Mafia, it is a simple fact.

If there's an even vote and everyone votes, all the players that have been voted for to make the tie die, and they all get to choose one more player to take with them.  Ties aren't safe, at all, though, for reasons Spak mentioned.  If not everyone has voted, then a random player who has not voted will die.

As far as the whole picture goes, Spak, it looks to me like you must've sent it, then hit Kashogi, because your plan was to target me and NickMitch.  I can't find any other reason why you would've hit Kashogi.  DAaaMan died from that picture, innocently died.  There's no way he would have just made it up and posted it, because if he were wrong, he would've just risked his life for nothing, and if right, he would've likely been a mafia target.  Instead, we voted him out with the understanding that we had to have killed one mafia member by the end of today, and we had narrowed it down to two.  It was you or DAaaMan, and we voted DAaaMan first, just because Kashogi wildly claimed innocence and last time you did this, you acted differently.

It's clear you acted differently because this all was a fake, but you must've known you could only possibly hide that you faked for one day, which must be why you included me and NickMitch in the thing, so you could slither around dying yesterday, kill Kashogi last night, and then blame me and NickMitch today.  Was that the plan all along?  I'll admit, it was clever, but it's not going to work  Everyone keeps asking me why I'm still alive at this point, plain and simple, it looks like I've been kept alive to be used in this set-up.

I have been outspoken that I despise using screen captures for evidence of being townie or mafia.  That is not my style...and when  host Mafia games I always make it against the rules to publicly post screen captures.

I don't know what is going on with that screen or what that means.  One way or the other that whole stunt makes no sense...unless it was a stunt.

All I know is you are Mafia...and so is Stevey, and I believe Nickmitch is also.

You townies must believe me.  Killing me ends the game.  Period.  The Mafia goes into the end game and they win.  Why would the mafia keep you alive for a setup?  It is too risky.

Whereas, I am not known for pulling crazy schemes in Mafia, but you are.  This is somehow one giant elaborate scheme you contrived and I don't know WHY you included me in it...but you did.

So, let's just let the vote decide, who people will or will not believe.

To begin with, it's not like you posted the screen capture.  DAaaMan did.  You had no say in it.  Whether you're for or against posting a screen capture is a moot point.  It doesn't even matter.  The fact is, DAaaMan posted it and said you were guilty.  We didn't believe DAaaMan, and a townie died.  Today, you want us to believe you more?

You're right that the stunt doesn't make much sense, but again, here you are, trying to frame me and nickmitch, and I don't even know why stevey's name has come up.  It doesn't make sense.

Again, there were two choices yesterday, now there's one.  One remains.

I will admit, though, that sending a message acting like I'm mafia to a random player would be something I'd do, in fact, I'm almost surprised I didn't this game.  However, I'm not the one who did something that seems nuts, you are, and it looks like you thought you could talk your way out of trouble.  Oh well.  I'm anticipating to see you buried in votes any time now.  I'm surprised there haven't been more already, actually.

No you look at it from the fact of what happened yesterday.

The screenshot.  Either it is fake or it isn't.

I think it is obvious it was fake because none of the information in the message was real.  Stogi-Townie, DAaaMan-Townie.

I still have no idea what is going on with that...but I do know I am a townie.  Which means something else must be happening.  You seem to be the most vocal (besides me) on this issue, and I believe you MUST be mafia.  It was a perfect idea to get that screenshot out...and I still have no idea how it happened.  But, you are guilty.

Stevey is guilty too.  I have no evidence...but just a feeling.  Nickmitch is honestly a guess.  A stab in the dark, from the message that perhaps you and him are totally protecting each other with the message.

But, as I said...I have laid my case that I am a townie, and I have been the townies information, I believe will lead them to a victory...but if they decide not to take it, the townies will lose TONIGHT!!!

Your Choice everyone.
