I read "Metroid, an Art Style Game, ..." as "Metroid: an Art Style Game." I wonder what Art Style: METROID would have been like?

This is a cool idea for a feature, but you should consider including the Miiverse IDs of the artists. Since NWR is ad-supported, this page is generating revenue for the site without attribution to the content creators. This is a pretty unsavory practice.

I called Nintendo about the problem and they are replacing my Nintendo Land disk. This is weird, right? The problem is almost certainly not the Nintendo Land disk?

My Wii U crashes every time I play Nintendo Land; the game is essentially unplayable for me.

I'm looking forward to the playing cards as my first platinum reward. I've enjoyed the gold level desk calendars in the past - I guess I like rewards that are more practical than decorative. Game downloads are nice options too! Definitely happy with this year's reward options.

I'm beginning to think I'm going crazy when it comes to Puzzle Quest.  I've mentioned this on another forum (a long time ago) and no one else confirms it and everyone happily ignores it:

Puzzle Quest is unplayable.

I actually loved Puzzle Quest until I realized that there were only a handful of patterns that the gems are assembled at the beginning of every match.  And when I say "assembled" I also mean the pattern in which each additional gem is dropped down onto the playing area.  The replacement gems are all queued up in the same order for the handful of patterns.  They are not randomly scrambled.  The next time you're playing, pay attention to the beginning of each game.  Soon enough you'll find the same gems in the same places.  If you make the same move, the same gems will replace the ones that disappear.  Also, if you make the same move, the AI will make the same counter move, and that pattern will continue.

Once I noticed this and confirmed it, I put the game down and never touched it again.

Is this fixed in Puzzle Quest II?

In the DS version of Puzzle Quest 1 there was a glitch that caused the same starting board and gem drops for the first puzzle after booting up the game.  I would guess that this is caused by the program not seeding the random number generator.  I didn't notice the AI always making the same moves, so the first puzzle was different every time after the first few moves.  The problem goes away after the first puzzle.  This was fixed in puzzle quest 2 (and galactrix).

The game offers up hints as to what tool to use, and in general is less forgiving than past titles.

Did you mean more forgiving?

This episode seemed so much shorter and smaller than the first two.  Very little exploration, lots of dialogue tree puzzles.  Hopefully next episode has a little more for my 1000 points

Maybe it's finally time to switch from Blockbuster.  BB is good but streaming to my Wii is quite a selling point.

I used this software to make a desert (sticky toffee pudding) that turned out great - if you want to learn how to cook new things this is a great tool.  One complaint was that while I was baking the pudding and cooking the toffee simultaneously it would have been nice to have two separate timers - I had to use the oven timer for the pudding.  Also, I made this recipe twice - once with two servings and once with four - and both times I had too much batter left at the end - and the servings were huge as it is!  It seemed like the amount of food per serving size was a little off for this one.

Jonny is really on the ball with getting reviews out, and he is supposedly semi-retired!  Kind-of wish more staff would put out reviews more often - they are my favorite part of the site besides the podcasts...

Indeed, one of Tim Schafer's many classics. Grim Fandango is also amazing, I highly recommend it. Just go on Wikipedia and find anything that guy was a part of and there is a 100% guarantee that it is awesome.

Yeah, I forgot about Grim Fandango too - very awesome.  This is also one of the most critically acclaimed point-and-click adventure games ever made, for good reason.  I actually did search Tim Schafer on wikipedia - now I'm even more interested in Psychonauts now that I know he was a part in it!  Thanks Nick

YES, love the shout out to Zack McCracken and the Alien Mind Benders! My first true adventure game back in the DOS days, seriously an awesome game.

Yeah - I loved Zak McKracken!  The thing I remember most about about it was the Hare Krishna dude in the airport handing out pamphlets and doing the crazy spinny dance.

Another game I forgot to bring up that I really really loved was a sequel to Maniac Mansion - Day of the Tentacle!  It had a time travel component to the game that was really well implemented and fun.  Now THAT would be a great first adventure game for someone new to the genre; I highly recommend it to you noobs out there!  Ah, memories.  I miss my Amiga!

You beat last week's record for longest RFN ever!  Was there seriously 6 hours of unedited audio, or is that just how long you spent editing it?

That is cool - I considered buying one until I realized
a. I shouldn't be in such a rush to part with my hard-earned $19.95
b. NES controllers were made in the 1980s, before scientists invented rounded corners.  Rectangular prism -> not the most comfortable design

Does anyone else refer to use the remote for NES games over the classic controller?  I noticed this especially in SMB3 - So much of the game requires holding down a and b at the same time which is a little awkward with the classic controller due to how these buttons are positioned relative to your right thumb.  The remote (I actually prefer it with the slip cover/condom - I have big hands and the cover makes it more comfortable for me to hold) just seems way better to me in this regard.
