Yeah, the story is just insipid. It could be vaguely interesting if the aliens were more present but instead it's all some no stakes competition and constant character introductions. Also it stars the worst character design in the game, god damn Shimakaze is terrible.

I had a retail copy of Baldur's Gate 2 back in the day, the manual was a small book that explained all the rules. I remember reading that a LOT trying to understand it.

So did Jon have his copy of Monster Monpiece on his Vita when the store was turned off?

Wow, you must have gotten lost REAL bad to get the score this low...

Palicos don't talk but other felynes do, e.g. the chamberlyne that takes care of your home. But then again player controlled hunters don't speak either so maybe they're just sending the idiots that can only communicate in grunts out to be cannon fodder.

I'll cheer for Slap City then, let's see if that pulls it off.

Disco Elysium is considered a modern equivalent to Torment. No idea when those console ports are coming tho.

I remember the fool's errand of trying to bind every one of Turok 2's 30-ish weapons to a different key back in the day just because I was used to directly selecting guns in other PC shooters. I think you need three rows of keys to make that work.

BTW, you can use the money bullets in Metro if your gun accepts the right kind of ammo. IIRC you have to hold the reload button to load those. They're supposedly more powerful.

I believe the console versions of Sunset Riders are missing stages and I think each version is missing a different one.

None of my wishlisted titles are on sale but I don't need the eshop for getting a cheap backlog when there's the itch.io bundle of over 1000 games.

James, I thought you'd be all over advanced trolling in SMM2. Like the ones CarlSagan42 plays: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuQnz0fyKVA

Too late, the dev behind Giana Sisters died a few years back.

Yeah, it's not good. Of course an automated game maker would only make mediocre slop but they decided to add the "fun" of artificial glitches which can just be completely game breaking.

I think Puyo Puyo is technically a spinoff from some serious JRPG which is where those characters are coming from.

I think all of their Dangerous ______ titles have been received badly?

The most annoying part about those arcade archives and virtual console games is that they're only on consoles and consoles get obsolete. I have a bunch of those games on the Wii, PS3, Vita, Wii U, ... that aren't available on current systems. Meanwhile those collections I got on the PC still work on my current PC. The slow rate of releases certainly gets worse when you can't even have all of them in one place.

I wonder what a Pokemon game based on Germany would be like... Notable flora and fauna includes the world's deadliest mushroom and the largest catfish (big enough to eat small dogs). Notable evil plots...

To shock Miyamoto I'd try coding Donkey Kong black. Like give him a rap theme song and...

Link's Awakening on the GB was my first Zelda and I got stuck on the first puzzle that involves pushing those dark blocks that are usually non-pushable but specific ones can be moved exactly one tile. I didn't know that they are sometimes pushable.

I don't know about Grandia 1 but when I played through Grandia 2 I had to ask a friend afterwards what it looks like when you lose because I didn't die once. And I wasn't even remotely completionist with the game, only learned afterwards when reading a guide that you can find additional eggs.

Speaking of Inland Empire, that's a skill for your character in Disco Elysium. It lets you argue with your necktie, among other things.

Syrenne, it's safe to talk about Touhou on a Nintendo podcast, Touhou Kobuto V Burst Battle was one of the first physical Switch releases. Of course that's just a fan game, the rule of thumb is if the art looks professionally drawn it's a fan game.

I think there's evidence out there that Lucky is not named after Palmer Luckey. Don't remember where though.

James savaged the 3DS version on RFN back when that came out, apparently the puzzles are trash. Every puzzle was a sliding block puzzle or a trick question where you had to answer 1 or 0.

With Contra being retail there's at least a good chance of cheap leftover copies in bargain bins...
