Controller Stuck in Right Position?!
« on: October 24, 2004, 10:58:23 PM »
Hi, my 2nd controller was fine yesterday....now it seems to be stuck in the "right position" (when playing Timesplitters, my friend keeps turning to the right, and in the GC Menu, it keeps going to the right also).

The control stick is in the neutral position, as well as the L, R and C-Stick. I have tried the X, Y and Start Buttons to Reset the controller - didn't work. I Have tried blowing the controller plug and ports in case they were dirty - no help. I have also tried all ports, including Port 1, and I've tried my 1st controller in all the poprts too, so it's definately a problem with the controller.

Is there any other way to fix this? Or is it buggered?

Return it if it's not too late!

I think I had a crappy 3rd party controller somewhere along the that had a similar problem - did you try unplugging it and then plugging it back in, as opposed to the manual reset?

So, yeah, it's probably buggered.

It's an official controller (a year and a half old), and I did try unplugging it and plugging it back in (in every port, as I said above)...

I've had two first party controllers that had a similar problems and now one of them can't do anything but turn right and the other can't move up or down.
Sorry quircus, I feel your pain, but it sounds like it is time for a new controller.

My friend fixed my controler which has the same symptoms his solution was to grab  a part of the chord and swing the controler so it hits the floor (not really hard tho) and the control sticks just do 360 rotations a few times moderately fast. Hey it worked for me. He fixed by solving another problem where his character on PSO kept going forward.

Edit: Remember while doing this your controler has to be unpluged for obvious reasons.

I actually started having this problem with my first cube about a year and a half ago I think. It turned out to be a problem with the cube which I had to have fixed. Something about the socket shorting out my controllers.

Not surprisng. I yanked my old GCN hard off my desk onto the floor numerous times. Good thing for me it was still under warranty at the time.
