Awww, no Wave Race: Blue Storm?  There were some really cool tracks in that game.

Should I note it pained me to call the Racoon tail the "Tanooki suit." You don't turn into stone with that power-up!

So there's a separate power-up that lets you turn to stone?  I saw a video recently that shows that it is possible to turn to stone somehow.

...stop making such a big damn deal about 3D without glasses, and make a bigger deal about how it can do more and better stuff than previous DS systems.  Let people know that even without stereoscopic 3D, it's worth having one.

This has me excited.  At first I thought the CD was just going to be a recording of one of the concerts.  I'm very glad to hear that it's going to be a proper studio recording.

Is there any more to it than that?  I sent an email in shortly after episode 3 and there hasn't been any response to it.  If that's the only criteria, then there might be something wrong with the web form.

Sucks that you weren't able to connect to any opponents in the online game.  I had a blast when I played against opponents in the World Lobby.  The only issue I had with it was the cheapness of the screen-swap item - stack your screen to the top with garbage and trigger the screen swap to pretty much insta-bone your opponent.

Huh...

1.  Nintendo 3DS Sound - 94:38
2.  Ocarina of Time 3D - 71:39
3.  Star Fox 64 3D - 33:14
4.  Zelda II - 26:39
5.  Nintendo eShop - 19:50

...how the hell did I get so much eShop time?  I can only assume most of that was inactive idling while I was browsing the internet for game information.  That's out of 64 titles in all, by the way.

The first video is available starting today and features characters from the studio's 2009 release Monsters vs. Aliens. Another video featuring the three little German pigs from the Shrek franchise will appear later this month.

They've already got their schedule wrong.  The pigs video appeared on my 3DS yesterday, and I haven't seen the Monsters vs. Aliens clip yet.

In lieu of folders, I just physically separate my icons as I see fit.  3DS internal software on the left, followed by eShop software and DSiWare, then a blank column and the Ambassador games, then some more blank columns and the downloadable trailers.  I'll probably go through later and add some space between the internal software, eShop software and DSiWare.  They're in order, but they're all lumped together right now.

OCD?  Perhaps...

I see an asterisk after "limited time" in the part about Four Sword Anniversary Edition, but there's no footnote to go with it.

A new Red Bull BC One video showed up in Nintendo Video today, and the 3D effect seemed off again.  I started pausing it numerous times to see if I could notice anything that might indicate it was a pseudo-3D effect added in post-production when I noticed something - it seems like the two cameras aren't capturing frames at the same time.  There's one frame around the 49 second mark where you see a flash of light on the right side of the screen.  If you view the frame with your left eye (or with the 3D slider off) you can see the light reflected on the floor.  However, if you view it with your right eye, you see the source of the flash on the top half of the screen.  Later, around the 55 second mark, there's another frame where the performer is...  I have no idea, but it's like a handspring only he's landing on his entire forearm, and his feet look like they're slightly ahead when viewed with the right eye.

The lesson here is, if you're going to film fast action in 3D, make sure the cameras are in sync or it looks wonky.

Is September 28th to February 20th the time in which the game will be free, like they did with Excitebike 3D, or are they simply pulling the plug and making the game completely unavailable after that?

With regards to this thing providing extra battery power...  how would that even work?  The port for the charger is clearly exposed, and the charging cradle works by touching two metal contacts on either side of it.  There's no way for this thing to provide power to the system.

So it could potentially be used so left-handed people can use the stylus in their left hand while using the circle pad in their right, yet it has no opening to actually remove the stylus from the system.  Either it's still in the prototype phase or that's a considerable design flaw.

That thing looks annoying and unpleasant.  The game cartridge and stylus are both obstructed by it.  Also, it seems odd that they have a slot for a wrist strap on only the right side when the 3DS has holes for a strap on both sides.

How does it actually interface with the 3DS anyway?  Is it wireless?  Does it need its own battery?

Yeah, the Blue Man Group's video wasn't done very well either.  On the beach scene, there were elements of the background that appeared to be in front of one of the blue men in terms of stereoscopic depth, even though spatially it should have been behind him.

It was strange because if I angled the system so that each eye saw what the other eye was supposed to see, that part looked just fine.  However, if I looked at the system straight-on, the blue men had proper stereoscopic depth in relation to each other.

It's weird how they're handling the stereoscopic depth in the videos, too.  I assume they're keeping the effect subtle so it doesn't make people's eyes hurt to look at it, especially since the 3D slider can't be used on pre-rendered video, but keeping it so subtle feels like it defeats the purpose of having it in 3D in the first place.  Plus it hurts my eyes more to see background elements that appear to be closer than objects that are in front of them than it does to view a more pronounced 3D effect.

As far as I can tell, Nintendo Video is a novelty for wasting time.  And not a very good one.

You're right on all points.  However, it seems weird that since the Motion Plus is supposedly 1:1 accurate that it wouldn't have me aiming at the floor when I pulled the bow out, since that's how it was oriented in my hand.

I feel like I may be the only one...  but after getting my hands on the demo at PAX, I am no longer excited for the game.  Maybe it's because I don't have a Motion Plus so I don't "get it," but so much stuff just felt wrong.

I tried using the bow holding the remote like it would be pointer-based, and ended up pointing in some completely different direction.  I was able to adjust, but by the time I got Link aiming at the spider by the ceiling, I was holding the remote like I was aiming at the floor below the TV to the right of mine.

Flying the beetle felt weird, too.  I think the biggest issue I had with it was that it has limits - you can only tilt up to a certain angle before you can't angle any higher, but there isn't really any tactile feedback to indicate that.

The sword was the most confusing.  There was a stalfos miniboss that held two swords in different defensive postures, so you had to swing to hit where it wasn't blocking.  I thought I was swinging as indicated, but the only time I seemed to consistently hit him was when he was blocking attacks from the top and left.  I have no idea if the remote was uncalibrated, or if I was accidentally hitting one of his swords as I tried moving the sword into position to attack, or if I simply wasn't doing something right.

Now it's possible that the remote became uncalibrated during play, but I recalibrated twice - once right before playing, and again right before trying the beetle.  If it's that easy for the Motion Plus to get uncalibrated, then I really don't have much faith in the thing.

Maybe I just had a bad setup, or my lack of Motion Plus experience might have something to do with it, but at this point I really wish I could play it with a controller instead.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Shantae: Risky's Revenge yet.  That game is an excellent platformer.

Calculator does look pretty nice, especially compared to the equally priced Mario and Animal Crossing calculators.  It seems quite useful and I'm definitely intrigued by it...  But do I really have any need for it if I already have a TI-84?

Also, with how quickly they go through that video, it struck me as kind of odd that they included calculation errors.  They're legit errors, though.  The first is an overflow error from the factorial command, 120! (120 * 119 * 118 * ... * 3 * 2 * 1), which also happens on the TI-84, and the second is a 1/x command where x = 0, which also happens on everything.

I tried entering 120! manually into the TI-84 and was able to get 120 * ... * 71 before overflowing, with a result of 5.584558074E98.  It looks like Calculator displays the same number of digits and would likely overflow in the same place.  On the other hand, Calculator appears to handle scientific notation differently.  One of the screenshots shows the decimal point after 10 digits instead of after 1, which might allow the numbers to go higher before it overflows.  If someone is able to verify this, it would be much appreciated.

I don't know if it was the compression or what, but the 3D on the It Girl music video was terrible.  It looked like it was filmed in 2D with the 3D artificially added afterward.

That'd work?  I would have expected Nintendo to make it so downloaded software wouldn't run unless it was tied to the individual system, which wouldn't really be possible unless it was downloaded through the eShop.

Cool points to them if they don't actually do it that way, though.
