Chrono Trigger, best game ever? Surely it can be considered the best RPG ever (although you'd have to consider games like Eartbound and Grandia 2, as well), but I can name quite a few games I liked more than Chrono Trigger.

I actually consider Chrono Trigger #3, right after Zelda: Wind Waker, and Xenogears.

Many people do consider it to be the best game ever, but I suppose that most of the people I know are RPG fans like myself.

My top 4 are all Zelda games (OoT, MM, LttP, WW). Chrono Trigger's definitely one of my favorite games ever, but not my favorite.

Chrono is ahead about 250 votes! Mario is losing!

He is losing by 732 votes now. It seems hopeless I think.

Why do I get the feeling that far too many assumptions are made on these boards?

Assumptions asschmumptions- when a guy with a two part signature, both of which are pro Crono-anti Mario posts for the first time talking about how much better Crono is than Mario, it's more of an educated guess than an assumption.

Wohoo, my efforts weren't in vain. I helped get 30 other people to vote for Mario. WOHOO, party! I don't know how he did it. Was down by a few hundred with an hour to go, but he pulled away. Guess the hardcore fans came through.

Vote Sephy! (even though I voted for Alucard) He was in a Final Fantasy game, which was once on Nintendo consoles! *insert random rant about why you should vote for Seph*

Now, regarding Mario vs. Crono...

A bunch of votestuffers just jumped in right at the end and voted for Mario. It's like how you proxy on mIRC, except that you're voting for the same person WHILE proxying.

I'm surprised Mario won.  When I voted for him, Crono had a big lead.

mouse_clicker - have you played Grandia?  It is better and more charming than the second game.

I am right shocked that Mario won.  I doubt he can take Sephiroth, but we shall see.  I hope the pansy goes down though.  Sephiroth is just a little too femmy for my tastes.  I could really care less about Alucard, but I voted for him just to vote AGAINST Sephiroth.

but chronotrigger was an awsome square RPG on the snes also

i voted for alucard, mostly because i owned a castlevania game before a final fantasy one.

Sephiroth is cool.

He'll own Alucard. I don't know about the next round.

I think the biggest blowout match is going to be Mega Man vs. Tommy Vercetti. Mega Man will own him.

AiAi: Unfortunatley not, which is depressing considering Granida 2 is quite easily the best RPG I've ever played. I'm sitll searching for a copy, though- if anyone can point me in any direction, that would be most appreciated.

"I am right shocked that Mario won. I doubt he can take Sephiroth, but we shall see."

I was thinking the same thing yesterday- if Mario could just barely, through some act of divine intervention, beat Cloud, I really doubt he can beat Sephiroth. At least it won't screw up my bracket TOO much, though.

um, cloud?  you mean crono, i assume.  and chrono trigger has an insane following.    he can sure beat the pants of sephiroth, at any rate.

for the record, mario beat crono last year, too.

as far as mario vs sephiroth, i think it will be a very close match.  don't know who will win though.  i'll be sure to vote mario, though.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Crono is indeed what I meant to say- sorry for the mix up.

And Sephiroth finished 3rd last year, right behind Mario- that says a bit his popularity.

well, megaman downed tommy vercetti, i must say i didn't quite see that coming, and definatly didn't expect it to be that a convincing of a win, well done mega-man!

currently link has ample votes to see him win over samus, :\ a shame really, well... as nintendo's best hope its good that link will win, but i would have liked to see samus go a little further. quater finals atleast, ohwell
