time to stop complaining about "NO SSB ".... what else do you want them to do? how about making the console free? i guess still some people would not be happy.

but lets be honest this was COMPLETELY out of the blue!!! not using wii controller (using gamecube instead) because it "kind of gets in the way" or something. interesting......

this is probably the biggest surprise of e3 from nintendo!

i wondered what was going on when i first saw the name. i had no idea what it was. i thought it was some poor third party company trynig to make a unique and sparkling innovationy name. then i read the article. i realised the truth, that NINTENDO had created that stupid name. of course i went through the stages. denial. etcetera.... but finally acceptance. they have given it a stupid name. but after being strung out on some crazy japanese natural ecstasy for a few days, it started to seem ok. it was like "hey, this name makes sense. its cute, cool, and all that." then i came back to earth and i realised that its still stupid and not everybody who sees it is going to be in my situation to understand it. im in japan and it ive asked a few people here... it does somewhat fit in with their culture but it is still inexcusable to call it that for the western audience. it simply will not slide in america most of all, secondly australia.

i dont know whats going to happen. personally, i think its ok. but i now that the west wont like it. like rick said, they have done everything right for it, and now, it seems like they are committing suicide with the name. why? is there a traitor amidst nintendos upper ranks? thats all i can imagine... i guess the best we can hope for is a new name for everywhere except japan. that way, nintendo can save face by keeping the name somewhere, not admitting that it was terrible, and giving it a decent name everywhere else. "face" is very important in japan.. they wont drop the name completely, because that would be admitting the name sucked.  and that would be shameful.


edit: a few points... people keep using ipod as an argument for wii. when i saw ipod, i thougt it sounded regular, perhaps even somewhat cool. ipod is not wii. i dont have an ipod and i think its a stupid craze, but the name was NO WAY as stupid as wii. i never thought that ever, even years ago. personally i have no problem with wii. but everybody else will and im wondering why nintendo is doing this... why... whyyy..... but then again, the japanese have always been very insular.

I guess they said its like cute its because Wii looks somewhat like part of Kawaii (the japanese' favourite word). Someone mentioned they dont have a sound for "we" in their language which is true, they tend to say it more like OO-EE rather than WEE.  about the R and L stuff, they just tend to say both sounds more like R, but its a tiny bit like an L too. for example i have trouble when people are talking about "rocks" but they mean "locks".

what do the japanese think about it? i think most of them are oblivious.

i just need to wonder, what neurons are misfiring in ian sanes brain? why does he sit on a forum all day every day arguing that everything nintendo does is wrong or stupid? does he have a job? does he actually enjoy games? does he have obsessive compulsive disorder? i get really sick of going into EVERY single thread and seeing his annoying jibber jabber. ever thought of reading, then thinking, then not posting? you dont NEED to slam your ridiculous opinions into everybody's faces. and you dont need to set out every reply like some kind of legal document, with the quotes then rebuttals.

im a fps gamer since wolf3d and after watching these videos i must say I WANT THIS GAME!!! looks really great... i cant believe such a dynamic fps is on a handheld, ESPECIALLY a *nintendo* handheld. these truly are amazing times. simply unbelievable. and this is just the beginning.

I loved the sailing in Wind Waker... it was so awesome. I used to come home drunk at night after going out and just spend hours sailing around looking for stuff and revealing all the map. I loved that game entirely. The cel-shading was great, the game was just plain fun. The story was funny and all, nothing melodramatic but i enjoyed it.  The wind and the ocean were so beautiful. Wind Waker didnt get the respect it deserved :-(

not interested in RPGs, zelda is as RPG as i go. and it is not even an rpg. i dont know why everyone complained about the celshading so much - i loved it. i never got into OoT because of the muddy depressing graphics, but WW made me so happy every time i played it because of the vibrant colours and cartoon style.
WW just felt 100% better to me. One day i will finish OoT though... one day.
blood in zelda - no thanks. i've been soaked in blood from 1000 different other games ive played, it really doesnt do anything special for me.
stats and  turne based battles wouldnt be zelda either. zelda, to me, was always about simplicity and grace.

one thing i cant help thinking though is that zelda rpg would turn into a golden sun clone.

Wait a second, i was under the impression that Metroid Prime 2 multiplayer was designed JUST for co-op.  Where did these deathmatch diehards come from? It is clearly perfect for co-op. deathmatch will definitely be secondary.

ah well

PS. dvdcrave.com (an australian site) has Ikaruga PAL, i guess the imported it.

I apologise if this topic has been done to death, but i have some question about the topic.
I am wondering where you get your release dates from for Australian Games, other than going down to the shop and looking at them :S
I am in need of a new GCN game until HL2 comes out for PC, and i've narrowed it down to 4.

F-Zero
MK: DD
Viewtiful Joe

I'm pretty sure Ikaruga and F-Zero are out, but i don't know when the other two come out. I really want Viewtiful Joe but i don't want to wait, because it will likely be a month or longer...
I could buy another game and save up in the meantime, then get VJ when it's out.

Ahh... decisions decisions.

Well if you can help me out with those release dates, then it would be helpful.

If you guys stopped spending so much time on these forums, and more time playing games, you would probably see that Nintendo isn't dead.
I mean, Ikaruga, F-Zero GX, Viewtiful Joe, MK: DD, what more could you ask for coming up in the space of a month (for me in australia).
I only have three games currently, SSB:M, Zelda:WW, and Metroid Prime, but those three games made my gamecube all worth while.
I don't care about sales or anything, just in playing the games.
