What is the defining line between “Comic Mischief” and “Cartoon Violence” for the ESRB?

From what I understand, cartoon mischief is when a character, for example, a pulls another character's pants down, puts a banana peel so another character can slip and fall or scare them all of a sudden. Prank like stuff.

Cartoon violence is when the violence is greatly exaggerated and no real consequences are ever shown, like being cut into pieces with a knife, then  being fine the next, or surviving an explosion in Mario Kart's case.

Well, I guess no one has ever “died” in Mario Kart. :)  All I know is those tanooki goombas look too adorable to “kill”.

What is the defining line between “Comic Mischief” and “Cartoon Violence” for the ESRB?
Quote from: ESRB
Source
Cartoon Violence - Violent actions involving cartoon-like situations and characters. May include violence where a character is unharmed after the action has been inflicted
Comic Mischief - Depictions or dialogue involving slapstick or suggestive humor
So Cartoon Violence be any Grasshopper game.
Mischief be Tiny Toons.
