I thought the 3DS system code carried over to a replacement system???

Someone said in another thread that he received a replacement 3DS and the system code carried over.  He didn't have to send out a new code to everyone and make all friends re-register him.

Well, that's super for that other fella. This however, was not my experience. The system friend code on my brand new replacement 3DS is clearly different. I even made sure by comparing the new code to my old one, which was helpfully preserved for posterity on this message board.


Maybe that other fella got a fixed or refurbished 3DS back. Mine was a complete replacement. I don't think they even tried to fix the old one, based on the speed with which I got the new one in return.
