Overlord: Dark Legend
« on: August 13, 2008, 07:50:32 PM »
An ALL-NEW game based off of the underrated gem for 360 and PS3!

~ Prequel to the original game
~ Designed from the ground up: new story, new characters, new gameplay additions
~ Same four minion types, but they will have new abilities

More info and screens here!

I found the original to be a lot of fun, and I'll most likely get this one too thanks to it NOT BEING A BLOODY DIRECT PORT! =D

Heh, for a moment I thought you had posted this in the wrong forum.

So, are those Wii screens or 360 screens?

I find it funny how the game that is basically a take on Pikmin will be on a console that will have a third Pikmin game soon.

I actually bought the first one for PC even though my PC is like, 400 mhz below minimum requirements. That's how much I wanted this.

Ian should buy this game. He was a big fan of Pikmin and this is a Pikmin clone.

His excuse: This is a PREQUEL to the main game. I am tired of third parties supporting Nintendo with half assed spin offs, prequels and off shoot titles based off of REAL games on the PS3 and 360.

I think it's very interesting to look at the Publishers of the games you listed...

High Voltage Software, Deep Silver, Codemasters... these are mid-level companies making their moves on the Wii, an area where I think Nintendo should really focus on if they want to garner support. The big companies are too slow to shift strategies (well, Capcom is surprisingly nimble) and too inertially invested in the other consoles.

Nintendo should put effort into aggressively courting companies like Atlus, Eidos/SCi, NIS, Disney, Hudson, and other companies of similar size or market position. These companies are perfectly situated to, I believe, be sold on the concept of becoming the next big thing on the Wii without much competition from Squaresoft, Konami, etc.

Kairon, you forgot Telltale Games. Even though their first game is a port of an existing PC series (Sam and Max) they did provide the Wii with an awesome game for WiiWare (Strong Bad), and with the first episode being a big success I see them collaborating more with Nintendo.

I wonder if they are going to make a Wii port of Wallace and Gromit since they are working on that as well.

With Wallace and Gromit having a lot of fans in the animation world it would be dumb of them NOT to port it.

The game simply begs for it to be on the Wii.

I honestly don't see a difference between the two versions, except slightly higher res on the 360.

The real test shall lie in the number of characters on screen.

That is true, though the 360 one is hard to beat, it is actually really great looking game. Not like it really matters that much though if they stay to the spirit of the gameplay and get the framerate at a respectable level!

the 360 game had a ton of bloom but it fit with graphical syle. The characters were cartoonish and fairly low-poly so it looks like they are using the same character models on the wii game. The plot of the 36o game was reclaiming your destroyed Kingdom from corrupted fantasy heroes. I'm guessing this prequel will be the Overlord building his kingdom for the first time.

Well Codemasters stated that they want there to be the feeling that there is a lineage of Overlords that came into power over time, so I doubt this will be the same Overlord as in the original...
