I'm kind of surprised to see the two GameCube Wiimakes on that list, I didn't expect there to be much interest in them, especially not to the point where they'd be pre-ordered.

Interesting that Street Fighter IV isn't on there for 360.  More people are probably pre-ordering the PS3 version of the Collector's Edition because it has the Ryu figurine, vs. the 360 version which has Crimson Viper for some bizarre reason.

To me, LBP is what I wish Super Mario Galaxy would have been.  SMG is an amazing game, don't get me wrong, but it's still fairly "inside the box" in terms of what the Mario series has done in the past.  Aside from the semi co-op, you're still one character running through a 3D world solving puzzles suspended in space.  The overall core game concept hasn't expanded much.  When you see what's being done on other consoles in terms of co-operative play and other online functionality, it really makes you wish that Nintendo was a little more committed to online gameplay.

I agree with KDR's response to this. Miyamoto make LittleBigPlanet? *boggle* He'd probably make it something COMPLETELY different. Miyamoto's games are carefully crafted Japanese gardens, not sandboxes. Western style development is all based around sandboxes and simulations. Miyamoto has never been about that. He's always about evoking a very specific feeling... at least, that's the way I see it.

Sure, LBP is something awesome, but I really think wishing Nintendo made it is naive, the same way thinking that Paper Mario should be more like Final Fantasy is naive. I really believe that Nintendo would take the same concept and take it somewhere else entirely... and Ian would back me up on that.

Does SF IV use the D-pad or the left analog stick for primary movement?  If it's the D-pad that alone is reason to go with the PS3 version over the 360 version.

It plays like a 2D game so dpad. Also according to the email I got all of the games in the top 10 are regular editions.

I'm sure SF IV allows you to use either D-Pad or Analog stick.  But for best control I'm sure most people will use the D-Pad, and the 360's controller is useless for that.

It is funny with Mario Galaxy I remember before it came out people were saying "Is it too different", now some are saying it is too much of the same? Mario Galaxy was a large evolution in platforming putting together a game with a concept that had only been touched upon in previous games. It was a fresh experience and I'd take Mario Galaxies well designed, and innovative worlds over LBP's user created content.

Now don't get me wrong, a game like LBG is great, but still nothing beats, at least in mind mine, then a finely crafted video game from some of the best and most creative people in the industry.

But LBP is also a fine platformer.  I'm not saying I want a Mario Construction Kit.  But some online co-op would be awesome, you can't deny that.

Depends how it affects the design of the game.

Yeah, generally games have to be designed for their player number, the environment must give both players something to do. Couldn't make a game that's only about traversing platforms coop because there's no work split, everybody has to do the same things. Puzzles will need a specific design too since many singleplayer puzzles would be broken if players could be at two locations at the same time. The game must be designed so multiple players can do meaningful things at the same time while also interacting with each other but it also must allow playing singleplayer so the main content must not require having two coordinated players (unless you want to give the player an AI helper that will most likely only annoy him).

Miyamoto is the hero that Mario calls on when HE gets kidnapped by Koopa!

(except, as a video game character he is known as Mariomoto and he turns into a giant whenever he eats sushi.)

That's stretching it... let's focus on direct analogies of what's powering up Mario.. the mushrooms (japanese lol symbol for penis and strength and manhood), strange yellow capes, combusting flowers, and retarded velociraptors.

I thought Mushrooms fit in with the stereotype of Mario being an Italian, because Mushrooms are a common Pizza topping and is used in Spaghetti and so forth. I remember in the old animated Series Mario loved to eat pizza and other Italian foods, but you didn't really see that happen in the video games...
