TalkBack / Teaser Confirmation of Metroid Connectivity
« on: August 23, 2002, 12:10:18 AM »
Yes, it's there.  It's cool.

While demoing the new build of Metroid Prime at the Gamer’s Summit, NOA’s Chris Campbell revealed that the GameCube and GameBoy Advance versions of Metroid will interact in some form.  Unfortunately, in typical Nintendo fashion, all he could say is that it would be ‘cool’. Let the speculation begin!  Hopefully we’ll have more ‘cool’ news about how the 2 Metroid games interact sometime before the games launch simultaneously this November 18th.

TalkBack / "Shine Get!" Stays in Japan, PGC Staffers Mourn
« on: August 22, 2002, 10:36:31 PM »
Those who're sick of the phrase rejoice.  I'm not one of them. SHINE GET!

With the release of Super Mario Sunshine only a few days away, U.S. gamers will finally get their hands on the gaming goodness that the Japanese and overeager importers (*cough* PGC staff) have been enjoying for the last month.  And while it’s been suspected that the wonderful ‘Engrish’ phrase “Shine Get!” would be changed, the confirmation came at Nintendo’s Fall Gamer’s Summit from Bill Trinnen (a.k.a. Mr. Miyamoto’s uber-translator and NOA localization wizard) and from a quick test drive of the final U.S. version.  According to Mr. Bill, the phrase, while being perfectly acceptable and cool to hardcore gamers, would likely seem odd and out of place to your more casual gamer.  I suppose in theory, we shouldn’t want kids to pick up poor grammar from Mario...but it’s such a L33t phrase!

TalkBack / Resident Evil 0 will also take up 2 discs
« on: August 22, 2002, 09:44:44 PM »
Yup, just like the first Resident Evil on GameCube, the prequel will need 2 discs for all its beauty.

Resident Evil 0 was one of the games demoed in the afternoon at Nintendo’s Fall Gamer’s Summit.  Although the version shown was very similar to previous demos (E3 demo and Japanese trial edition), Capcom revealed 1 new nugget of information.  Just like its GameCube predecessor, Resident Evil 0 will span 2 discs.  This is hardly surprising considering the game sports even better texture work than the Resident Evil remake as well as some gorgeous FMV sequences.  Also, while all the action on the demo occurs on a train, it was reiterated that the train is only one area of the game.  There will definitely be other areas to explore.  Hopefully we’ll see some of these areas before the game’s November release.
