Hello and welcome one and all to the next edition of Safe Words, that wacky game where everybody except UncleBob has a chance of winning! This time I'll be your host, and we've got some chaotic fun ahead of us.
As per usual, the game will proceed with someone choosing to place a bomb behind one of many themed words. People then take turns guessing which words are safe in order to avoid getting exploded. If someone picks the word hiding the bomb, they are out of the game! The person in line before them then picks the next word and the cycle begins anew until only one user is left standing.
Our new setting takes us to the world of none other than Sonic the Hedgehog, who is now all sad and depressed over how he has now become the butt of many unfortunate jokes. Having fallen from grace after his successful 2D and 3D games, Sonic is determined to turn things around and to show he can stay relevant in today's society.
Look how happy he is to have a second chance!
To bring his friends together, Sonic decided to hold the world's biggest picnic, sending out invitations across the globe. He wanted everyone to join in the party and to see that Sonic can still throw down with the best of them. He is the fastest thing alive, no?
What's that you say? What about Eggman? Of, that old buffoon. Of course he wouldn't do anything wrong to Sonic while he attempted to rebuild his career and become more popular and win the world over. That would be much too predictable?
Hmm? Eggman has hidden bombs in the picnic baskets of the guests? And now the NWR Funhouse crew have to pick which ones have one and which ones don't? Lucariofan could be deciding the fate of a beloved video game character?
Oh, what a diabolical plan indeed, doctor...
To further complicate matters, Eggman has scrambled all of the party gifts and replaced them with his own devices designed to jeopardize the normal proceedings of the game! Every time a player survives a round, they get one Ring. If a player blows up another with a bomb, they get 2. These rings can be built up and used to purchase picnic baskets at Robotnik's Delightfully Devious Emporium. The catch? When you purchase a picnic basket, no matter how many rings it requires, you have no clue what may be inside.
When you receive an item, you can save it and choose to use it whenever. Some items are used right away at a round's beginning, others are not. However, while you have an item, you cannot obtain another one! All purchases will also take place in the RDDE thread, and the item you gain will be publicly announced. No, you can't hide your items. People may get madder than they already are due to all these gimmicks.
Just what could these picnic baskets contain?
Scrambler: Must be used at the start of a round; it distorts the player list, causing the order to become jumbled.
Censor: Must be used at the start of a round; causes all of the bomb words to become numbers and letters and scrambles their order. Only lasts for one round.
Baby Big Arm: Must be used at the start of the user's turn; allows the user to throw the bomb word choice forwards or backwards by two spaces. If the bomb expires, the one who chose the bomb will still blow up.
Double Duty: Must be used at the start of a round; can only be used by the bomb picker; allows for the creation of an extra bomb. As soon as one bomb blows up, the other is out of play.
Ring Basket: Gives the buyer five rings. Can be kind of a ripoff, but hey, that's the Sonic series for ya.
Dud: Just an empty basket; can be used to hit someone, but that's all it does.
Skeptical: Is automatically used on the user's turn; forces the user to make two choices for bomb words, doubling their chances of death. This can also be an advantage, depending on the outcome. If the bomb expires, the one who chose the bomb will still blow up.
Extra Life: Must be used at the start of the user's turn; allows the user to survive a bomb blast. However, these is 25% chance that Eggman gave you a fake one!
Skip: Must be used at the start of the user's turn; lets the user pass on choosing the bomb word, sending it to the next player.
Disarray: Must be used at the start of a round; moves the bomb around, placing it at a different location. Don't be too trusting, as it also has a 25% fail rate and may keep the bomb exactly where it once was!
