Title: What are the medals for?
Post by: mouse_clicker on May 06, 2003, 04:44:21 PM
You know those little different colored medals that appear on people's posts? What exactly do they mean? I originally thought it had something to do with the number of posts, but it's unlike PGC to give incentive to spam. I guess I have a gold medal because i'm so much better than all you guys.

They're not medals? Wishful thinking, I guess. I mean the little circle looking things next to the magnifying glass in the upper right hand corner of each person's post. Both yours and mine are gold.

No, the little padlock is for private messages. The magnifying glass is to see the user's profile, but the medal-looking thing isn't clickable and I have no idea what it means.

To the left of it?  That shows if you're online or not.  It's a LIGHT BULB.

Oh, that would explain why mine is alway's gold, or "on". Maybe if the thing had a pullstring coming from it or some filament in the middle it'd look moer like a light bulb.

It does have filament...

Yeah, if you consider a few black pixels at the abse of the bulb a "filament", then it does indeed have one. Generally the filament extends into the actual bulb where it is more noticable.

Or if you consider the roundish thing in the middle the filiment, which is more clearly visible when in the "off" state.

I can see the faint trace of the filament on your bulb, Rick, since you're offline. The lit lightbulbs still remain filament-less in my eyes, though.
