Super Mario Sunshine - Strange Light?
« on: December 20, 2003, 12:29:28 AM »
Hi there

You know in Delfino Plaza where theres a dolphin statue with lemons? Well theres a "mysterious band of light" (as the D.E.B.S alert calls it) there. I've tried everything I can think of but I can't work out what it's for. It's been there for ages and ages and I've kinda given up on it now. (I have 35 Shine Sprites)

So any way, here's my question ... what is the "mysterious band of light" for and what does it do and how do you do it and when etc etc etc.

THANKS
I'm physchic. If I wanted your opinion I would have told you what it was.

stand in the light, and look up.

also, your avatar is too big.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Its easier for those of us who have played Mario64. Maybe Nintendo just assumed everybody has.

Ahhh, mario 64, damn I need to play that again. If only my N64 wasnt crapified.
HEY NINTENDO! PUT OoT, MM, AND MARIO 64 ON A GC DISC AND I WOULD TOTALY PAY $35 FOR IT!! Add goldeneye and perfect dark and I would pay $50.

Freaking game nazis. You want the good classic games? Do all this crap, or no disc for you!

I had to sell my 64 to get my Gamecube (I'm poor). I have played Mario 64 although I didn't really finish it. You can buy a preowned N64 from any second hand store now for only $15 and that comes with controller and cables and stuff. Man I really should get another 64. Thanks for your help too. I didn't know it unlocked a new place though ...

The column of light was a Mario64 reference?  That explains why it took me freakin' forever to figure out what I was supposed to do at that part of the game.

You're so right about all that stuff. Oot stands for Ocarina of Time right? but what does MM stand for?

Majora's Mask.

And yes, there was a similar puzzle in Mario 64 that everyone who has 120 stars in the game knows and hates...

It wasn't really hard, I spoke with the people at the place and they said "something happens when you look at the sun from here". Took me maybe a second to figure out what I was supposed to do after the ray appeared.

Whenever the intro cutscene showed the band of light, I got so stumped by it. I would try EVERYTHING ('cept look into the sun ), like squirt water at it, chuck fruit at it, ride yoshi into it, use the rocket boost on it.
And then I look into gamefaqs, and BAM!
I hit myself so many times i knocked myself out.

Same, except for the knock my head so hard I pass out bit. Everytime I come out of a level back to delfino plaza it always shows that cut scene. Now that I've been to that place isn't it supposed to stop now? Doesn't it have anything better to show me?
