Doom 4

Looks a little 360-muted-colors-space-marine. But the combat shows promise.

That demo really hit me cold. It's pretty, but it just looks...boring. I realize that's just the Doom "thing", but I'm reminded of how Wolfenstein: The New Order really rewrote how that series was presented, and this just pales in comparison.
There was a Signature here. It's gone now.

Oh yes, the combat looks promising the first time you see those dismemberment kills. Then you see the same ones over and over for the next five minutes and you stop caring.

Gorgeous, graphically. Lots of neat stuff going on. But ultimately quite bland.

I remember playing the original doom and it scaring the **** out of me, not because of the creatures, although some were definitely pretty scary, but because of the inevitability. I still haven't beaten that game because of one part where you don't have enough ammo and you're surrounded by those flying one-eyed monsters and those devil looking creatures. You can run around the level and avoid them, but it's a small donut shaped building surrounded by lava. So eventually you have to attack, but you simply can't kill them all and they always kill you. Scared the **** out of me.

This game seems nothing like that apart from the molten lava.

Agreed it's nothing like that, but a game like that would never sell these days. It is, however, a graphical masterpiece.

I think FPS speed will come back at some point. Maybe a game that takes the vertical out of aiming.

apparently now in GZdoom(the doom you need for Brutal Doom) you can play Doom in an arcade inside Doom.
