What a bunch of wankers. Lets go pirate a trailer! **** it, lets do the whole first episode.

Olga Kurylenko? No NOONNO nON NOOoo. Have you seen how ungodly unsexy she is in Hitman?
Gemma Arterton, yeah
Eva Green: Best of British Classiness.

TMND was very borderline. DAD went Moonraker on everyone and lost. QoS was a mess on every level.

Goldeneye and Casino Royale are easily the two best modern bond films. It's no coincidence that they were both directed by the same guy, Martin Campbell. He really knows how to do a Bond film.

Where did this show come from? It's like a hybrid of American cartoon style with Japanese animation.

The animation is done by Japanese studio Polygon Pictures, and the show itself is made by Disney and airs on Disney XD.

I didn't realize Japanese animators could emulate American-style cartoons. I thought most animation done in Japan was for their own market. I'm constantly surprised at how much of a big difference there is between American animation and Japanese animation.

Japanese animators seem to have much higher standards for quality. I know that Japanese animation is outsourced to foreign companies, but overall the quality is much higher than American animation.

I noticed you edited your text before I could quote it, but I was gonna correct your comment on the quality of Korean animation. As I mentioned in another thread, some of the best quality animation is done in South Korea. Including The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Justice League.

What about Japanese animation? Do Japanese studios outsource to foreign companies, or do they do most of the work themselves?

You are right, in general the quality of animation was lower in the 1940s. I did look at the videos you posted. As for budgets, there are high budget animated shows and low budget ones. There are also far more cartoons now then there were back then.

No no no, the quality was higher. Look at Disney's old animated movies (before the 1960's). The animation was more fluid and realistic.

Animation is the simulation of movement. Stuff done back in the old days felt more fluid and alive. The cartoons done today are more "pose-to-pose" animation, nothing really flows together.

I found this blog post explaining why outsourcing animation is bad for the industry

Her behaviour was more of a turn off than anything else. From the moment she turned up, I wished the impossible wish that Agent 47 would just shoot her in the face. I am sure she is quite pretty, but god damn it, that is not how you seduce anybody. She should have stayed in the car boot.

I finally saw the trailer for Wreck-It Ralph the other day.  Looks like a movie with a lot of fun video-game references and character cameos (including at least one Nintendo character that can be seen in the trailer); I can't imagine that it's not a licensing nightmare.

They were showing that trailer on a huge screen on what seemed like a continuous loop in the Disney booth. It does look good from what little I saw when getting my free Vitamin Water at the little bar they had set up for some iPhone game. I got a shirt for it, but I gave it to Neal since it was too small for me.

Wreck-It Ralph looks about as boring and generic as you can get. Outside of the character's in the support group, nothing else caught my attention.

Tron Uprising looks interesting. I haven't watched the episode yet. I really hate the style that most modern cartoons are done in however. All of the current Marvel and DC cartoons suffer from similar problems. Characters look angular, with sharp features and hard lines prevalent. It's not a pleasing style at all, and is inferior to the style we used to see in things like the 90s X-Men and Spider-Man. It had a more western look to it that harkened back to comics themselves. This stuff nowadays just looks simplified and cheap.

Hm, I've never heard of it. The screen grab looks nice though. Clearly it's an exception to the rule. Even still, I'd much rather see a well realized western style than anime any day.

You've never heard of Avatar: The Last Airbender nor it's sequel series, the Legend of Korra? That's...actually quite surprising. Usually even someone remotely familiar with the internet has had some sort of exposure to the shows.

It looks nice enough, but the action scenes didn't have nearly enough frames to make them look convincing. It might be different now, but I never liked it enough to follow it.

It depends on the episode. The original series had up to five different animation companies at a time. Obviously, some were superior to others.

I've heard of Avatar: The Last Airbender , though have never watched it. I don't know much of it, and certainly was unaware of a sister series.

I recommend both of them. Compared to any other children's cartoon, both shows breath new life into Saturday Morning Cartoons. Great action, superb Korean animation, top-notch voice acting, and a bit of humor that I find charming. However, considering my age compared to your's, it may not be for you.
