Nintendo Gaming / RE: Thinking Big?
« on: January 06, 2005, 06:14:28 PM »
I know someone said already said something like this but I'm too lazy to find out who.  Anyway I want to see Nintendo go out and get some talented young development teams and make them second parties, personally I'd like to see them get some more US or European based developers because these markets seem to be growing at a faster rate then Japan.  I didn't really have any companies in mind except maybe N-Space depending on how Geist turns out.  But anyway, once Nintendo has its second parties, they let all of them go nuts on whatever they want to make, only one rule applies, only original IP's.  This allows Nintendo the chance to develop its sequels and still publish original titles.  Given Nintendo's history of publishing well polished, fun games, I think that this would be a very good strategy for Nintendo.  Either way I'll probably end up bying the revolution unless it turns out to be retarded, which I doubt.

From what I've read, Reggie has actually been meeting up with Iwata, and if he is contributing to the decision making then I believe that Nintendo will be much better off next generation.  I have faith that Reggie can do with Nintendo what he did with VH1, then Nintendo will be fine.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: What features should gamecube2 have?
« on: August 08, 2004, 06:29:02 AM »
well I really Hope that Nintendo has the brains to make the revolution at least as powerful as Microsofts Xbox Next, that way if Nintendo's 'revolution' does end up being a completely dumb idea then they still have then normal features that they can fall back. The thing is though, the rumors that we have been seeing all point to X2 being a more powerful system and unless Nintendo plans to make up the gap by great design, X2 will be more powerful. So lets see what Nintendo does.

Hey I have a question for everyone here, Who is scared of the revolution and why? Personally I'm very scared, I feel that Nintendo's idea might not seem all that great to the mainstream consumer audience and that the Revoltution might be a total flop. I just wanted to know what you guys thought.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Mock Revolution launch titles
« on: August 04, 2004, 07:37:57 AM »
yeah Raven Blade looked really good before it was canceled for Metriod Prime, and Factor 5 will be developing a new Pilot Wings game that I'm will take full advantage of the hardware that they will probably assist in creating. Another thing I would love to see is a new first person shooter that will be sure to sell really well. People always seem to be drawn to great FPS, hell Xbox would have been dead in the water if it wasn't for Halo. And one thing I would like to see that hasnt been mentioned is a game that in know has very little chance of coming out for launch on Revolution and that is Too Human, or anything else by SK would work for me.

Well, first of all EB is Gamestop's main competitor I am an employee there so I think I would know, next time your at EB ask if they are affiliates with GameStop.

Next, Sargent, if you are trying to make your views and opinions seem better then someone elses then I consider that argueing. Someone said that online gaming was good, and you argued and said it was bad. So you may just be throwing your opinions out on the floor but at the same time you are arguing against someone elses.

Just to clarify, I think that online gaming is great but its not the future as many people are saying, to be honest it brings absolutly nothing new to video games just allows you to play different people at the same game. Also online gaming on consoles is still in its infancy, given time to grow and mature I'm sure it will be just like PC online gaming

Maybe Nintendo can make the Seal of Approval a a little harder to get and not just slap it on to any crappy game. Yeah Nintendo would still liscence the game out it wouldn't have the Nintendo seal of approval letting the developers know that the game is pretty bad and needs work. If the 3rd party refuses to try and get the seal of approval then they can still sell there game but gamers would know whether or not its good.

Now to be honest I don't really see this being used unless they did a small version of it as an experiment and proved that the titles with the seal sold better then those without to. I think I would like it. I would protect the large amount of gamers who buy things based on hype, like enter the matrix.

Ok first of all sgtshivers, you pointed out that this is a forum in which you can express your views, very good observation, but you then go on to dissuade him from argueing with your views, meaning you can argue with his views yet advanced can't argue with yours, a little hypocritical don't you think. Also just because this is a Nintendo forum it shouldn't mean that we can't hear the two sides of the argument, which you Fanboys are doing.

Second, it has yet to be seen how a fighting game being made with online in mind, would play, again this is aimed at you sarge. If SSBM and Mario whatever(there really are a lot and who said something about EA) where built with online in mind then, I THINK that they would run fine, granted the connections were good. But my theory has yet been proven so I will wait till Mortal Kombat Deception and Dead or Alive Ultimate are released before I claim anything as fact. Oh and don't give me that BS with the Capcom fighting game being very laggy, ok because that Game was a poor port that was slapped with an even poorer online mode.

Another thing, stop calling people who disagree with your opinions Xbox fanboys, thats so damn immature. I own an Xbox, I also happen to think that online would be a good thing for Nintendo because that way they won't be seen as the company behind the times. I also happen to think that Xbox will be the U.S. market leader in the next generation because of the amount of interest I see with my very own eyes. In the past 2 days at my store I have seen 2 people trade in their PS2 and every game they had, all for an Xbox. Oh and one of those 2 guys came in the store today and I asked him how he liked his Xbox and he said that he had no regrets about getting one, despite all he had to give up. I am positive Sony won't come up on top next gen. And you know what, despite seeing Microsoft on top next gen in the US I will probably be exclusive to the revolution for a good year or so because I know it will great, just like the Gamecube was and still is great, best in my opinion. And Although I love my GameCube, Seen43 is right, Gamecube would have sold better had it been marketed in Silver. I don't think the handle mattered much but the color was offsetting to many.

Now I've have been reading these forums for a while and just because I have a dissenting opinion I don't believe it would be right for you to call me an Xbox fanboy, dispite me telling you GameCube is my favorite. I am just like you guys, eagerly awaiting my reserved Nintendo Games which include, Madden 2005(even though I have an Xbox I get Cube version cause I hate Xbox controller), Paper Mario 2, Need For Speed Underground 2, Prince of Persia 2, Metriod Prime 2 and Resident Evil 4, Now just because I am also eagerly awaiting  Fable and Halo 2 for my Xbox does that mean I'm an Xbox fanboy. If you guys say yes then I think I would have to find a new forum do to the stupidity that would be demonstrated.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Metroid Prime 2!!...2!...2......
« on: July 31, 2004, 09:11:21 PM »
You know what, I believe that we have nothing to fear with this multiplayer, I was unsure of whether a First person metriod could be done and then the give me a game that was better then I coulda imagined. Then there is the publisher, Nintendo, now we all know that Nintendo knows how to put out good multiplayer games. I'm sure each of us have spent hours playing the multiplayer modes of smash bros, Mario kart/tennis/golf/party and what about GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, and Conker, so its not like Nintendo doesn't know what a good multiplayer mode is. So lets be patient and optimistic that Nintendo will once again deliver on a fine multiplayer mode.

TalkBack / RE: Nintendo DS Revealed
« on: July 28, 2004, 08:38:23 PM »
Yeah this thing does look really good, I've always been amazed at how well Nintendo handles its handhelds, they seem to do everything right with them, and they got the DS to look great.

And whoever wanted to reserve the DS, I work at a Gamestop in Palatine IL. and there are reserves but there is no word on final price and you have to pay a $25 deposit, at least thats what they are having us do. EB might be different.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: State of 3rd Party Address
« on: July 03, 2004, 10:34:34 PM »
Is this supposed to be mostly foriegn publishers cause I was just thinking about Activision. Not the best quality of games but most of them aren't bad. I've always like the Tony Hawk series they have always been done pretty well, umm Lost kingdoms and Lost Kingdons 2 were decent, Spiderman 1+2 movie games and also Bloody Roar, those were all pretty good and don't forget the they were resposible for Call of Duty last year and they are bringing  a call of duty game to Gamecube, they are also throwing True Crime 2 our way but the 1st one wasn't that great. Any way they aren't as bad as midway used to be earlier this generation, meaning they don't release total crap all the time, although Midway seems to be turning around.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Golden Sun for Gamecube?

It should be cool to see what type of abililties we will have next game and I cant wait to see what the game looks like if its real, I hope that Camelot can translate the beautiful graphics from the GBA to the Gamecube but im not sure because I've never seen anything from them that was really great from a technological standpoint

Umm I don't remember backwards compatability ever being confirmed just rumored but other then that I agree with you 100%. Xbox owners aren't that bright they buy bad games like blinx and shadow ops mercury rising. I dont think SK on Xbox will change any of their sales numbers.

Yeah I was a little skeptical with Sega making an exclusive for Xbox with a team that has yet had a commercial hit. Which is one of the reasons I don't believe this. Then Again it was rumored that SK was working on an Xbox game and maybe it was too cool for Sega to pass up. Or just to be fair it could just be a false lead from Denis.

Bad news you guys, according to the rumor section in the newest EGM, SK has aligned themselves with Sega to make a game for the Xbox. I'm not gonna believe it until it becomes official, especially since Nintendo has yet to release an official statment about the split but, I will admit that over half of the rumors in EGM seem to come true. I geuss we'll just have to wait and see.

I don't think this has any truth to it. IgnXbox is just speculating and wishing, I mean what ever happened to RogueX. It didn't happen and we haven't seen any game for xbox from factor5 let alone the rogue squadron series. I personally don't believe it.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: REALISTIC ZELDA TRAILER!!!
« on: May 15, 2004, 08:29:36 PM »
But Ian, Shooters are much more straight forward. get to the end of the trail alive by shooting every one. In Zelda that trail isn't clear, forcing you to use your brain. Thats why I think Zelda is harder then most FPS.

General Gaming / RE: Segas big announcement

Is this real? How dumb DS is going to dominate with the GBA and the PSP will have a little influence.

I just noticed that all of a sudden that the portable industry grew from 1 system (GBA) to 5(GBA, DS, PSP, N-Gage, and Prometheus) in less then 2 years. and I still expect Nintendo to dominate.

Why does it matter if Nintendo is last? Don't they have this entire thing planed out from the beginning so it really wouldn't make a difference.

You know, my favorite FPS's ever, Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, were both published by Nintendo and I'm really hoping that this game with be as good as either of those games. I think there is a definite possibility, with th ghost stuff so we will see.
