Title: Revolution Controller + "Action Pad"
Post by: ABlueflameA on November 13, 2005, 01:31:08 PM
I got mario ddr "action pad" the other day (I won it actually) and it hit me that it wasn't called a dance pad.  Then it got me to thinking.
There must be some cool way to combine a revolution controller with an "action pad" so that its not just your hands/arms contributing to on screen action but your feet as well. You could actually "walk" up to things and then use the controller as if it was a sword or something like that.

Am I totally insane or just partially crazy?

Anyone have any good ideas?

Sounds too complicated to me.  Remember, the NRC is only using slight wrist movements, not actual swinging (for now, at least).  I'd rather not have my feet involved in video games.  While I'm good at kicking, I don't have the greatest control in precise stepping, which I don't think many people have either.

I'm not a fan of the foot stomp DDR stuff, but it could work; they could use it to make the character run.  The faster you run in place the faster the character runs; and you turn by using the other pads.  Everyone has seen DDR.  The motion capture of the remote would then be totally for hand motions and camera.

Games could be made like this without the foot stomping.  The character could run by simply moving the remotes up and down as if you were running.

It would probably be far too complicated, but Action Pad + one rev controller in each hand = boxing sim/fighting game nirvana!  Also, it could make for an interesting PN03 sequel.

The GCN Action Pad works on other games on the GCN though.
