The Glitch Gremlin Visits Super Mario All-Stars Wii!
« on: December 18, 2010, 09:03:31 PM »

With video!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/blog/24572

The other night while I was playing Super Mario All-Stars Wii (you can read my review here), I noticed that something was going on in Super Mario Bros. 2. While playing level 4-1, the characters started to jump around, the scenery disappeared, and everything went crazy. That's when I realized... I GOT A VISIT FROM THE GLITCH GREMLIN! It was a very odd event. I hadn't experienced a game glitch in ages, much less old-school glitches like the one I just saw. I did get video, but only of a part of it. By the time I started recording, the glitch gremlin had gone home. Still it was an interesting event!

Here is the video, please excuse the video and audio quality:

A glitch? So porting a SNES game brought SNES-style problems with it, it seems.
This is where I would write something witty or funny if I had any ideas.

If this was on Virtual Console, Nintendo could send out an update (patch) to fix it.

It seems to be a very rare event, though. Been replaying the level and it hasn't happened again.

When I was playing DKC3 on VC last month, one of the BG layers disappeared out of nowhere and left all the bodies of water on the world maps as dark holes. It went away after resetting the game,  though.

I have the original SNES cart, and this had never happened to me.

Reminds me of the old days of imperfect emulation.  I wonder whether that was a game glitch or an emulation glitch.
