Scratch! Viewtiful Joe
« on: April 06, 2005, 07:03:23 PM »
Just saw info on this new DS game at Gamespot, and it sounds interesting. I think the touch screen could be used well.

However, when they mention using your fingers for actions on the touch screen, while in theory I think this works better, because it's a pain switching to the stylus in the middle of the game, but in Super Mario 64 DS when I use my fingers to rotate the camera on the map screen sometimes, it makes the screen all smudged and dirty and I have to spend 5 seconds wiping the screen after which is even more of a hassle. What do you guys think about this?

The only thing that scares me of this game is the fact that it's [supposedly] been in development since December 2004. And since it's appearently coming out this year in Japan, I just hope it doesn't turn out crappy.

On another note... VJ for PSP is a port... lol.

How do you know that? Just because it was announced then doesn't mean that's when they started developing it...

I think you should wash your hands more often.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

For every five seconds you spend cleaning your DS screen, you'd probably spend a couple of minutes watching loading screens on the PSP.  (sorry, couldn't resist).
Viewtiful Joe on DS makes me happy!  I'm surprised at how much support Capcom is giving this series - I didn't think it was that popular.  The first did well, but not that well, and the second game bombed...still, I can't complain because I'm very interested in this game.
That's my opinion, not yours.
Now Playing: The Adventures of Link, Super Street Fighter 4, Dragon Quest IX

i really like the way the DS screen is designed. I can't see smudges (or the really small scratches) at all when the system is on.

Wow... they seem to have pulled off the graphics quite nicely.

I hope the framerate isn't shot to heck though.

Hey this'll use the control pad and the buttons!  Ian, get in here quick!  Lavish praise on a game in the traditional style!  And then somehow make this into bad news!  Hurry!

Wow, I didn't expect it to look this good.  I knew it had cel-shading in hardware, but I didn't know to what extent until now!

Wait a minute, are those backgrounds actually 3D themselves?

I like how it makes good use of the top screen by showing it zoomed in and whatever VFX you're doing up there, nice touch.

Simply awesome, this game has jumped onto my most wanted list for the DS... well alongside Advance Wars 2, of course. Thanks for the pic Mario.

If this game follows the general development rule of the DS, I'm willing to put money on this game having a 30fps cap on both screens.
