The Famicrew strikes back for another episode this month! Join Danny, James and Ty for the latest and greatest from Japan!

The show kicks off with the usual New Business, with James talking more about his experience with Splatoon and the new mode Rainmaker! Oh, and Luigi's Mansion 2 Arcade Edition is a thing and JC spills the beans about the experience! Ty jumps back in this month with more discussion about some old NES games (thank Microsoft!) while Danny gives you guys the down low on Yoshi’s Woolly World and Pokémon Shuffle on iOS.

After going through the latest news and charts, Danny and Ty engage in another game of Fake or Real. Do you think you can best Danny in this episode’s game? Hint: You probably can easily!

Get your splat on with the red-hot Famicrew!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/famicast/40964/episode-62-famisplat-season

This episode is hot! By that we mean the whole Famicrew is HOT! By that we mean, physically in pain from the sweltering humidity here in the far east.

Alas, onwards with the show! Danny talks about the least import friendly Nintendo 3DS game ever, Dragon Quest X Online. How do those on screen touch buttons work out for him? Next, Ty discussed Microsoft's new Virtual Console service, where they have kindly put 30 classic Nintendo games for a dollar each! Only available on the Xbox eShop unfortunately. JC wraps things up with some Splatoon impressions. Did the long wait for the 2.0 patch work out to his advantage? Probably not.

A whole bunch of Japanese news is consumed, Devil's Third, DQX, DQXI, Mario Maker, Animal Crossing, and 3DS Karaoke Joysound. Basically all the games Japanese gamers love. It's a good time! Be sure to listen to what's lighting up the Japanese charts too, the amount of Xbox One consoles sold this week may shock* you!

Lastly the crew tackle your lovely letters and tweets, starting with a pretty heavy Life in Japan type question about Japanese teens. Are they all videogame playing shut-ins, or just misunderstood?

Be sure to drop us a line famicast@nintendoworldreport.com or on Twitter @thefamicast. We'd love to hear from you!

If only the Wii U could run GameCube games like Melee natively in 16:9...

Well, it CAN, Nintendo just needs to throw the switch, or everyone needs to mod their Wii Us. And then maybe those poor tournament organizers can stop getting hernias from hauling around CRTs everywhere.

Time to hear E3 reactions from the other side of the planet!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/famicast/40602/episode-59-federation-farce

The Famicrew may have been thousands of miles away from E3, but that didn't stop them from experiencing the hype! This live show (now in audio form) is solely focussed on the big North American event that none of us went to, and there sure are a lot of opinions to be shared!

What differentiates this discussion from the dozens of other E3 shows you've listened to in the past week or so? Good question! Probably the focus on what it all means for Japan, but also the banter and ranting. It's not all rants, though. There was a lot to like at the show, and everything with hype gets discussed.By the way, in case you were thinking we gagged Ty, literally or figuratively, we didn't. Not till after the show anyway. Anyway, our old toys-to-life-loving friend Sairus seems to fill in the silence well enough.

Anyway, grab your wool mouth guards and step into the wonderful world of Japanese video games, as seen at an American event, by westerners watching it in Japan.

Please understand!

Podcast Discussion / Episode 58 - RAGE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
« on: June 13, 2015, 03:08:31 AM »

The world arcade scene, additional last minute E3 predictions, and Reggie rage!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/famicast/40427/episode-58-rage-world-championships

Recorded after the Mini Direct, but just before the Smash presentation, the Famicrew simultaneously get hyped for E3 and rage about other things (mainly Reggie it seems).

New business finishes off some long talked about games; first Danny talks about the last parts of Xenoblade X, and his appreciation for Dolls. In between grinding for butterflies, he has also been putting in the hours online in Splatoon. Finally someone on the Famicast likes it! (joke) Next up is Ty with your fighting game update. KI is a given, but then there's talk of Dynamite Bomb - possibly the cheapest fighting game outside of, well - free ones. JC wraps things up with NSMBU, and he thinks he's finally nailed why it didn't click for him.

Next up is the Direct Mini, both East and West are covered so you'll get all the games you're getting, mixed with some you hope you'll be getting in the future. Which will you be pining for, Monster Hunter Diaries or Fire Emblem: Bathhouse Edition?

Before wrapping up the show good and proper, a few bonus E3 predictions are thrown in the hat for good luck. Yarn Kid Icarus 3D sounds like a real winner!

All aboard the hype (bullet) train, we're almost there due to time differences!

Podcast Discussion / Episode 57 - I PREDICT A RIOT
« on: May 25, 2015, 04:43:00 AM »

Come and listen to our E3 predictions, Danny's new robot Doll, and your listener mail!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/famicast/40297/episode-57-i-predict-a-riot

Hey there, thanks for stopping by! The Famicrew did it LIVE, and now so can you! After a few corrections from the last show concerning Splatoon, and whether or not it has friend-matching (it does), the show moves onto the good times with new business.

Danny talks about his continued exploits in Xenoblade X. Amazingly he hasn't given up yet, and is the proud owner of a Doll, also known as a Skell (just so it doesn't get weird). Exactly what do you have to go through to obtain these giant robots? Danny tells all.

Ty talks his usual mix of crazy non-tendo games including; State of Decay, idarb, and Testicle Exploder 3. Killer Instinct is briefly mentioned of course.

JC finishes things up with some updated thoughts on New Super Mario Bros U, and how it may have broken him, and not in a good way. He's also got to the end of StreetPass Zombies, otherwise known as Battleground Z, and discusses whether the game could have legs even after the final zombie heads roll. Stretchmo is also briefly mentioned, but not really in a good way.

The main feature of the show then kicks off, something that hasn't been done on the Famicast for years - E3 predictions! The guys try to stick to all positive predictions this time, come and listen in so you can see how wrong they all are this coming June. You lovely listeners should tell us if you agree with us, and throw us your predictions too! It's all fun and games.

The last half of the show features another coin-flipping game of Fake or Real with your host, Ty Shughurt. Will Danny and James be able to beat a random number generator? The answer….will not shock you in the slightest.

We also finally get round to answering your letters that have been collecting cobwebs in our inbox. You see we didn't throw them away, we just neatly put them on a pile for reading another day. That day is today! Topics include the demise of Konami and Japanese elections - what fun!

So grab your wasabi Doritos and kick back and relax to the world's greatest* Japan-based English-language Nintendo podcast ever made!

Podcast Discussion / Episode 56 - CROSS-EYED SQUIDS
« on: May 15, 2015, 04:25:20 AM »

Xenoblade X, Splatoon, Yooka-Laylee, and of course - Japanese Power Rangers.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/famicast/40262/episode-56-cross-eyed-squids

Spla-doosh! Is it time for another Famicast already? Oh boy, do we have a show for you! It's quite a positive episode this week, at least 40% less snark than previous episodes. Even Ty has been playing on his Wii U! What voodoo is this!? I guess the draw of an exciting new IP and the fact that the Splatoon Global Testfire was free was enough for him. Listen to the first segment as Ty and JC tag-team new business of the ups and downs of Nintendo's foray into the shooty-shooty genre. Good times await. Probably.

If that wasn't enough, Danny gives world exclusive impressions on the first 30 hours of Xenoblade X (yes, you read that right, hours, not minutes) and he seems pretty impressed with it! Will he go the additional 80 hours to finish it? Who knows. After that Ty talks non-tendo as usual with spooky jump share games and, you guessed it - Killer Instinct. You know we have chapters that let you skip segments right?

JC dishes out some thoughts on his revisit of the seminal Mario 64, plus Amiibo Crap Tap. There's a twist to his new business as it includes an Xbox One Kinect game. No seriously, they do exist in Japan, although perhaps not in the form you'd expect! The answer will shock you, and your Mom.

News has the Famicrew all giddy. First up is the fact that Rare (albeit in a different form) are making a comeback to Nintendo systems with Yooka-Laylee. After that, they discuss the Universal Studios deal which is bringing a real life Nintendo Land to Japan! What a world we live in.

After a bit of other news and chart-chat, the crew read out your short messages and tweets. We're saving the longer letters for the live show coming later this month. Stay tuned for that one by following the Famicast on Twitter (@thefamicast). You can also add a letter to the pile with the address famicast@nintendoworldreport.com if you like. It will get read out next time, or the time after.

So grab your favourite googly-eyed musical instrument, load up your over-powered ink-roller and jump into fun times with the Famicast - right here, right now! EXCITE GET!!

64
What do you expect when virtually everyone involved had absolutely no experience going into this? It's one of the issues with keeping it as limited as it was, they didn't give people time to really learn how the game works, so they latched on to the most immediately intuitive option.

That's what's so funny, these scrublords declaring something OP NERF PLSSSS after playing an hour at most.

Podcast Discussion / Episode 55 - WANKY KONG
« on: April 30, 2015, 09:56:51 PM »

Please understand that the Famicrew talks about more DS on Wii U, surprise Kongs and the touching of your Amiibo.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/famicast/40145/episode-55-wanky-kong

Thank you for your continued please understanding! Welcome back for another episode of your favorite NWR podcast that is recorded in Japan (boom!)! This time around, the guys continue on with the shared new business talking about their playoff Super Smash Bros. match against the RFN crew. Sure, you’ve watched the video, but now get the down low from the guys themselves about what happened behind the scenes! You don’t want to miss it!

New business continues on per usual with Ty kicking things off. The last time we checked in with him, Ty was on a quest to be one of the best in Killer Instinct players in the world (for real!). Tune in to see what kind of progress he made and how many times he played as the lovely Orchard.

JC is continuing the trend of playing a boatload of games again. That means you get to hear more about DS games on Wii U, and the original name of one of the characters in Donkey Kong 64. With JC being from the UK, obviously he has the inside scoop from Rare themselves. Danny closes things out with a brief mention of Majora’s Mask 3D as well as an in depth look at the recently released Amiibo Tap.

After the crew touches on a bit of news, they go ahead and tackle questions and comments that came in via email and Twitter. If you want your letter read out on the next show, be sure to send something to the guys on Twitter (@thefamicast) or via email (famicast@nintendoworldreport.com). Also be sure to stick around for some outtakes at the end of the show! Wanky a go-go, baby!

Yeah, I know it's pretty much the only game I play right now, so I didn't want to go on about it forever. It's also going to be the only game I play for at least the rest of the month, because I need my top 32 pro medal. I have been playing Hisako a lot, but I'm not sure how many people want to hear me talk about how much her c.mk needs to be respected or whatever. She's very fun, though. I don't remember if I said it or not, but I think if you like Makoto from SF3, you'll like Hisako.

Also, behold, the true inspiration for Fulgore, according to character designer Kev Bayliss:

Podcast Discussion / Episode 54 - FALCON TUX
« on: April 16, 2015, 12:20:02 AM »

The Famicrew unite for fun chat on the Japanese DIrect and Danny's new life as a samurai.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/famicast/40076/episode-54-falcon-tux

You found another Famicast, congratulation - a winner is you!The crew have some shared experiences to chat about first, mainly Danny's wedding where he officially became a samurai, or got married, one of the two anyway. The guys then discuss the ups and downs of the Smash Bros tournament, still ongoing here at NWR. Who is coming out on top in this fighting game competition? The answer may shock you!

Moving onto New Business, Danny talks about Theatrhythm Dragon Quest, bizarrely he's not that into it, despite it being part of a game series he has put hundreds of hours into. Ty then talks about some new Animal Crossing DLC. Just kidding, it's Killer Instinct again! He also finds time to freak Danny out with talk of Slender, a first person horror game based on a meme, what fun! JC has been playing a load of games; the crazy end worlds of Boxboy, a DS game on Wii U (where else), plus an awesome free game from Club Nintendo.

Next up is the Nintendo Direct, focussing on the Japan side of things, as is tradition on the Famicast! The crew discuss all the new games heading to Japan; Fire Emblem, Rhythm Heaven, Dragon Ball Z, Fatal Frame, and….Little Inferno? Never a dull moment, we promise you.

The show wraps up with a quick feedback and comments section (we were running long), Danny is somehow allowed to talk about Japanese music in a positive manner.

After you're done consuming this wondrous audio delight, get excite for the live show real soon! We'd love some more letters and tweets to read out so send them to the usual places like famicast@nintendoworldreport.com or @thefamicast on Twitter. Much thanks!

Fifty-two! Like a deck of cards! But why are there four jokers in this deck??

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/famicast/39848/episode-52-devils-date-escape

This month, the Famicast Voltron is assembled from James, Danny, Ty, and Sairus for episode #52!

In New Business, Danny talks Majora's Mask 3D. James discusses buggy Batman and happy Hakoboi. Ty plays invades your pets' privacy in WASH_DOGS. Sairus plays Zelda: Link Between Worlds in a bathtub filled wtih Amiibos.

In the magical fantasy land of Japan, we explore the possibilities of the mythical Golden Amiibos, marvel at the Famicom cartridge as an artistic medium, and click-to-buy Mario Kart 8 DLC. Then, we put a Dragon Quest V concert in our ears, and put a Yokai Watch event in our eyes.

We use the whole box of Crayolas to chart last week's game sales, and then we burn down the mail room. Only three very weird letters survived the blaze. INSIDE: Japanese Duke Nukem and wife-swapping.

Podcast Discussion / Episode 50 - FAMICREW HISTORIA
« on: February 18, 2015, 12:13:45 AM »

Come join your friends old and new for a celebration of everything Famicast!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/famicast/39646/episode-50-famicrew-historia

Happy birthday to us! That’s right, the Famicast has turned 50, a mediocre number compared to literally all other NWR podcasts, but a big achievement for us nonetheless! This episode is a celebration of everyone’s favorite Japanese Nintendo podcast (by default, there are no others), so come along and join us for the ride!

New business starts with the Japan eShop exclusive, Hako Boy. Listen to fan-favorite Minoru talk about this awesome puzzle platforming game from HAL. Danny chimes in with some early impressions of Final Fantasy 3D. That’s Final Fantasy 1, in 3D. Find out if it’s hardcore enough for Ty “git good” Shugart to consider playing. Speaking of which, has Ty finally done his 8-player Smash tournament? Well, kind of. But he has a few other crazy party games to recommend, too! JC wraps things up with some quick impressions of Metroid Prime Trilogy and a couple of late-to-Japan eShop games. How he paid for them MAY shock you!

News turned into a mini-feature on the end of Club Nintendo. The crew looks back on the great, and not so great stuff to come out of the service. Did Japan really come out on top?

The main feature of the show is a huge look back on the inception, and on-going craziness behind the Famicast. The crew shares stories on what it was like being on the show, their favorite moments, plus loads of behind-the-scenes revelations that are sure to interest fans. Or bore them to death. Included is an interview with the resident Fami-artist Tony Tosoya, who shares his inspirations and love of Japanese games and art.

Just about the time you are ready to pull out your headphones and take a hot spring bath, Danny surprises everyone with a bonus segment with regular guest Josh Polak all about collecting figures and toys. These aren’t kids toys, these are man toys. Amiibo (ironically) included.

So set aside a spare 3 hours, and get ready to go back, back to future. No, wait. I meant past, or present. Just enjoy it!

Thanks again for your continued support and as always, please understand!

Podcast Discussion / Episode 48 - PLEASE UNDERSTAND US
« on: January 24, 2015, 01:53:35 PM »

JC and Ty try and talk about the Nintendo Direct. Somehow Japanese beer is involved.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/famicast/39467/episode-48-please-understand-us

Come watch or listen to Ty and JC doing it LIVE over the interwebs! With Danny taking a leave of absence, the trollsome twosome (name patent-pending) tackle all the news coming out of Nintendo Direct! First up is an extended new business segment with a full breakdown on what the guys have been playing over the holidays. Watch the post-credits end segment of the video version for an extended look at what life is like spending New Year's Day in Japan! Anyway, great games like Smash Wii U, Mario Kart 8, Shovel Knight, Volgarr the Viking and, yes, Killer Instinct are discussed (guess which is Ty's game).

With that out the way, all the Japan-flavored news from the Direct is discussed, Box Boy, Fire Emblem If, Rhythm Tengoku, and the wireless NFC adaptor for the 3DS. You should know, the guys' feelings on Amiibo range from "meh" to "make it stop", so don't expect much talk on that subject! Still there is one game that might make Ty get an Amiibo - the answer will SHOCK you!

So a big "Akeome" to all our listeners, thanks for sticking with us this long, and here's to a great 2015! Onwards to episode 50!!

Oh, and please, please understand.
