This video is why I love Nintendo.  Made my day.  The championship is definitely a way to promote Splatoon.

Last year my significant other was very ill and hospitalized 4 times.  I played a lot of 3DS.  Big expansive RPGs were a godsend.  I played through Bravely Default and Fire Emblem Awakening.   They helped kill the time and gave me something to look forward too.

2 hours.  I"m in for a treat.  Always great to hear from Greg.

I would absolutely love this.  This series is so under appreciated. I,  II & IV are amazing.  IV is honestly the best 16 bit RPG ever made and the squaresoft stuff form that time period doesn't come close to it.  This article was unexpected and great.

Hey Bryan its cool to hear a new voices at NWR.  I have a few suggestions for your podcast/video appearances.  Maybe its just me but you seem very timid when you speak.  There's no reason to be.  You're just talking to nerds on the internet.  Just relax.  We're all excited to here what you have to say.  You seem like your stressing and trying figure out what to say and are afraid of saying the wrong thing.  I think you'll find most people don't mind a more free flow conversation with mistakes and missteps. I think a lot of podcast fans prefer that. If you stress too much when you speak your cadence seems off.  Just be calm and confident  :) (If I totally misinterpreted this and that's just kinda how you talk don't be offended.)

I really loved the Smash talk.  Zach.  I never liked Fire Emblem and even I love Awakening.  It's worth giving a try on baby mode.

Hurray Spirit Tracks defense force.  That game has the best Zelda dungeons and the best characterization of Zelda.  Its my #5 Zelda game.  Glad there are others who love that game.

I really enjoyed this.  I'd been down for more of these.  Only suggestion is Alex should try to "talk with his hands" less.  I know it's something I used to do.

Yeah.  I got this at launch because there wasn't much else.  I really enjoyed it and I've never been huge on 2D Mario.  Its too bad NSMB2 had just come.  I think as time passes this game will get more and more love.  I really need to get NSLU.

I'm still waiting for GamerGate to tackle pressing games journalism issues like the murky and ambiguous relationships between AAA companies and major gaming media outlets or the lack of separation between marketing and press departments (IGN First, Gamestop/Game Informer, etc.). Hell, I'll settle for them questioning the very nature of things like previews and unboxings in major news outlets.

Yeah.  I think that the darkside of #gamergate is that the nutjobs are distracting from this.  It also gives the press something to shield themselves from legit criticism.  Which is an actual problem.  Hashtags are stupid in general.  People should just have discussions without buzzwords.

First.  Congrats on the show.  You guys got me into game podcasts back at the end of 09.  5 years times 2 hours a week is a lot to be thankful for.  Thanks for all the entertainment.

Second.  I was honestly expecting you all to be more out of control/zanny all together in a studio.  I was a little disappointed to be honest.    But I'm sure you'll do something insane for 500.  Maybe I should check out the streams.

Finally.  I think Jonny's idea about the projector could be really interesting.  Plus a super cheap handheld that has smaller experience & VC games/subscription could really take off.  Part of gameboy's success was the cheapness.  They definitely lost that with 3DS.  2DS really needs to be $100 if not $80.  Part of GBAs explosion was $80 SPs.

out of touch rambling that Iwata did on how home developers devalue the market by crapping $1 shite onto the iTunes store.
Except that's exactly what happened.

Not even with mobile platforms but even with Steam eventually.

Nowadays it's nearly impossible to create 2d game without people saying "it should be XBLA/Steam/eShop for 15$ tops".

Yeah.  It's sad Iwata was so right.  Gaming is in a terrible place and I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel without some kind of crash.

Also thanks Johnny for your super detailed response to my post.  Gave me some stuff to think about.  Ultimately I think creating guidelines that avoid even the appearance of impropriety is the best option for publications.  I also think us as Nintendo fans have always had it against the media at least since the Gamecube days.  We are a misunderstood niche.  I think everyone else slowly turning against the game media is jumping on our bandwagon, though they do it for different reasons.  There just seems to be a total disconnect between publications on the audience they cater too.  You saw that with the outrage amongst average consumers of XBOX ONE DRM last year and the luke warm media concerns.  If not outright defense.  I think the tech elite just have lost touch with the average person at this point.

James Jones thanks for all your points.  I appreciated your voice of reason.  Super glad you are calling out patreon.  Kickstarter can be seen as a pre-order system but patreon is a serious conflict of interest.

I think you guys are proving why fan sites/enthusiasts are currently more reliable and trust worthy than the major publications.  But Jonny is right about "just read what you like."  If you don't like it don't read it.  I pretty much cut out all all the "gamers are dead" sites.  Counter trolling trolls is idiotic.

Also Silicon Knights story... one of their big people being tried for child porn charges?  It would be unfortunate if that was one of the people that came out for karaoke.  http://www.wellandtribune.ca/2014/07/29/niagara-man-sentenced-for-child-pornography

The Dan Adelman interview was really enjoyable.   Some of, if not, the best work this show has done.

I mean.  Don't toot my horn too much.  I've certainly been overly reactionary at times and done my fair share of trolling.  Especially when we I was younger.  I think people have forgotten you learn most from people you disagree the most with.  Even those who offend.  But I stand by my don't feed the trolls comment.  I also think part of the problem is this.  Gaming was very much an exclusively male thing when we were younger.  And you say things to your guy friends that you would never say to girls (speaking in generalities).  But when games went online people kind of forgot that.  Just troll your friends if you know they are fine with it and do it back.  But when competing with strangers don't until you know they are comfortable with it.  Like, I play WiiU with my gf and I would never say the stuff to her I say to my high school buddies when we play halo or something.  Just use common sense.  Treat each personal individually.  Use language appropriate to who they are as a person.

Also I think you guys run one of the best websites.  I also met a bunch of you at PAX 2012 briefly.  You're all very nice.  I don't think this article was clickbait or that you don't genuinely care.

I just wanna post 2 article I sent to Karl on Twitter.

First.  I think most people want games to be inclusive.  Their problem, certainly mine, is more so the tone people argue for it with.  I think this read http://dish.andrewsullivan.com/2014/08/21/where-online-social-liberalism-lost-the-script/ in many ways illustrates how I feel.

Secondly.  There is way too much false dichotomy being presented here.  There are more points of view than "SJW" and internet troll threatening people. I agree with some of the points made in the tropes V women articles and disagree with others?  What does that make me?  I ultimately think the solution isn't twitter lynch mobs or boycotts.  I think people should make what they want to and purchase what they want too.  I think if a tenth the effort was spent making more "inclusive" games then complaining about other peoples games the problem could be more effective resolved.  Where would I fit into this false dichotomy?  I'm all for being tolerant but I'm also for absolute free speech and expression.  Including things others find offensive.  But I also would never myself say half that stuff.  Anyways I think this blog post better expresses this than I can.  http://blueplz.blogspot.com/2014/08/this-game-supports-more-than-two-players.html

I think the best solution to all this is two fold.  First, lead by example.  IE be respectful too people who disagree with your POV and try to understand why they feel the way do about any topic.  Then in a non-emotional way try to logically refute their points.  Do not use ad hominem.  Like "you're just a SJW"  "you're just a misogynist."  Second, nobody likes to hear this but you just gotta ignore the trolls.  There always have been trolls and always will be.  Stop feeding them.

I also think after stuff like "gertsmanngate" and "Doritosgate" put game enthusiasts are one edge.  I don't think it unreasonable for people to be frustrated.  I also think its not unreasonable to excuse yourself from writing on a topic where you are personally involved.  Remember on Weekend Confirmed when Garnett Lee stopped having his GF on because he couldn't be objective about her games?  I think that was a reasonable solution.

I decided to put seasons on hold.  I started up Ages and really like it.  It reminds me of the time sifting parts in Skyward Sword which is my favorite part of that game.  The dungeons are really cool too.  It's gripping me a lot more than Seasons did.  Though not as much as Minish Cap & Link's Awakening.

For WiiU I'm gonna go with Splatoon.  It looks really interesting.  Gears and Halo have gone down hill and I never liked Call of Duty.  So there is a void for shooters in my life.  It looks great and totally different.  Plus when Reggie said he wanted to to do shooters what mario kart does to racers how could I not want it?  I hope it is a success!

For 3DS.  Fantasy Life!  I was super excited when this game came out.  I wanted it to come out in the west.  However, I thought it was hopeless.  So the excitement was palpable for me.

Moon was probablly my favorite DS game.  I thought it better captured the feel of Metroid Prime than either of its sequels(or Hunters).  I can't wait to play this again.
