TalkBack / Re: New Star Fox Title Coming to Wii U in 2015
« on: June 10, 2014, 12:48:49 PM »
All you seen of it in the even is a blurry screen. So the time leak didn't do much. There was a lot more then expected titles announced.

27
Well IGN is report that sales of the Wii U rose over 666%, and 82% of that is attributed to the bundle.

28
I would like VG but it would be nice just for them to have a Gamecube bc channel where they have a virtual memory card. Heck I would even purchase such a channel.

It may be what she did before with her father and that was to demo games. She could show up on the Treehouse streams.

Considering how they so far presented the NFP, and just by the name. I have a conjecture that the figures will not be bound to a single title or game series. I made a post a while back on another site about "epic games" and how you could technically use data to make the players data go further in other titles across platforms (in this case Wii U and 3DS and thus making a customer more likely to buy a title may not have if it was just a stand alone project.

They technically could do something like that with these figures. For one game the figure unlocks the character to play in the game call this "tier 1 interaction", in other it unlock some extra content maybe depending on their progress with that charter or any figure in the first tier, "tier 2" and then have a software that can be accessed via MiiVerse or it own site, that shows off the progress and the figures that the person has, making the NFP more of a "Gamer Score" but with a little more substance.

For #1 if you remember the in game title screens they had the lit up areas on the two similar to this. Not saying they are not introducing new mega evolutions, it just seems similar to those title screens. (Which amounted to nothing at all at the time so it isn't a first.)

Here is something that can be taken as rumor. The post on New seed for the game in the feature says you can make your own tracks.

Here is an opinion piece posted at forbes a few days ago.

Its kind of interesting.

Even if they loose the trade mark they can just register a new one. The way the US trademark system make it hard to sit on a trademark without loosing it. Sega just lost the Shenmue trademark. All it mean is that someone else can use the title the way it is without editing or obscuring it. Though Sega can still sue on IP infringements if the use of the trademark damages the IP in some way they can prove. Trademark technically don't need to be protected, it just adds another layer on which you can sue people.

I'm thinking it will probally be simular to the Nintendo Channel on the Wii, creating one app for that and to connect MiiVerse and do the remote title buying that Nintendo losely promised near the launch.

General Chat / Re: Looking for some advice.
« on: August 18, 2013, 06:25:18 PM »
As some older posters would know, at least I think, I went to school for this, I have a lot of resources already. The point of the videos isn't for people who want to become professionals but hobbyists. I was planning for first an overview then go more in depth on topics. I was going to set them up similarly to lessons.

I also have experience as a public orator so it will help for the most part. (I also took classes in acting for summer school at times.)

Well since I'm getting positive feedback from this and the other places I have asked about this I will do it. I probably will not be up and running this week but soon. (I have most, if not all the equipment I need to make decent videos. I have to write up a script and practice it and set up my account for it on youtube.

General Chat / Looking for some advice.
« on: August 18, 2013, 05:56:37 PM »
I guess I have lurked for long enough so I'm coming up to post something for the first time in while, so I'm looking for some advice on a youtube channel, I'm thinking on doing; and wanted to get some feedback before I do so, to see if there is any interest in it.
The videos would be about how to cheaply get into gamedevelopment. I would cover the basics and point the users to free resources to get more. I will also show them free-to-cheap legally obtained development tools. I would maybe latter go into more depth on some topics.

I was also planning to something like a series of story telling videos where I would sit there and tell a story using just an outline. Plus maybe some video game editoral etc, which I think a  little overdone on youtube so I wasn't considering making it the focus of the channel.
So what do you guys think?

Nintendo added electronic distribution in with the trademark filing, so it is more than just a save the trademark thing, they are probably adding it just in case they want to release it down the line.

TalkBack / Re: Sonic: Lost World Announced
« on: May 17, 2013, 11:22:55 AM »
The way it was words makes me think a few things.
1) Nintendo is lending a hand at developing the game. (If you look at the picture it does have a galaxy feel.)
2) There is going to be more then one game out of this partnership.

It could mean that Nintendo has secured the new games in the franchise for the time being. It was actually worded poorly but it was Iwata saying it in English. I'm sure there are people in the media trying to get clarification on the partnership.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Wii U to miss out on 15 EA Games
« on: May 10, 2013, 07:29:00 PM »
If Frostbite 3 is so CPU intensive, then wouldn't they have issues running it on the PS4 as well? Last I heard the PS4's CPU wasn't anything to right home about.

The PS4 is rumored to cost $500+.  The CPU rumor is wrong.  They are moving from the Cell, but it will be a strong CPU.  When has Sony ever skimped on hardware?  People get too hung up in a speed #.  Architecture has changed dramatically and it will be a nice CPU.  It's like a 2003 Pentium 4 went up to 3.8 ghz, and today the fastest I7 processor goes about 3.8 ghz.  Do you think they are comparable?  Not so much.

They are putting a huge amount of RAM into it and basically making it a PC so ports are easy.  EAs excuse for the Wii U is they need a dedicated team to develop for the Wii U.  Xbox is basically developing a PC as well.  This is the risk of going early.  Wii U should have went with an OS that was basically a PC.
It is a powerful CPU, but it is a similar CPU to what the Wii U and the new Xbox will have. They will all have 1.xxghz OOE CPU and rely on the GPU for processing power.  So if they are have trouble getting the engine working on the Wii U they will have problems the PS4/Xbox. But since they are not, as far as rumors go, so it is just excuses.

All three console have similar architectures, so if you make a game for the PS4/Xbox you should be able to put it on the Wii U if you have any experience as a PC developer. Most game develop for the PC work on a wider power difference then what is exhibited between the three new console (according to rumors). Which makes EA claims even more flimsy.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Dear Nintendo: Please unify my wallet
« on: May 10, 2013, 07:16:02 PM »
They may unify it once they finish bringing the 3DS the Wii U's improvements for the NN. And from what I heard about the NN building up to the release of the Wii U they do plan on integrating the 3DS and Wii U accounts to make the console "account bound" and not the accounts bound to the consoles.

44
Well if it works good. But the last game that was suppose to be 12 or so episodes in length didn't make it past 3.

45
This is actually a fairly smart business move on the part of Nintendo. For all those who are complaining about the move. This allows Nintendo to focus on each audience individually. Which will be good for those who love the numbers of the business and for the fans who are hungry for information.

Plus it allows Nintendo do things like demo and exclusive videos during each day of the conference and even before. With this stream of information even smaller titles will get their time in light.

And it seems people like the declare the winner based off of the press event and there is a lot that can go wrong with a big all encompassing presentation.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Should Nintendo embrace "free to play"?
« on: April 24, 2013, 10:50:14 AM »
Well Nintendo has left "free-to-play" open for developers to take advantage of. It was covered before the launch of the system. Though none of the games so far has taken advantage of it. Though I prefer the free-DLC approach some of the games are taking.

TalkBack / Re: 3DS-Focused Nintendo Direct Coming This Wednesday
« on: April 15, 2013, 10:50:29 AM »
This ND will probally get the MiiVerse patch addressed, with some games to garish the presentation. The Wii U stuff will probally be covered at the Investor Meeting next week since they are going to have to talk about what they are going to do turn things around. Or like in January have a ND that just shows off Wii U stuff for the summer including the WW progress.

« on: April 09, 2013, 11:24:56 AM »
It kind of funny this isn't announced for the other two next gen consoles as of yet. So I wonder which was the "lead" platform. I'm hoping it turns out like NFS where the WiiU one turned out to be the best because they took time to their best on all the platforms.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Wii U in Review (News & Rumor Consolidation)
« on: March 09, 2013, 08:40:31 AM »
Western developers tend to look at the user base and potential profit. Hundreds of Millions is a lot more tempting then a tens of millions any day. It doesn't help that sites like to spin mobile numbers to make the market more appealing than it really is. They see this gimped game that didn't take a lot of development time and money and it is raking in tens of millions of downloads. They forget to ask themselves the question what percentage of that are bought in sales and "freemium" setting, and the actual pay back is next to nothing.

And then look at the portables and see "overpriced" games selling thousands (even though it makes them their money back). It boils down to a lack of research and what look like a good get rich quick scheme.

Another thing to consider is market practices of developers like Square-Enix, and Capcom, who offer gimped games at premium prices and charge to unlock the game. (Or you can consider the utter lack of policing done by the market owners Apple and Google, which will end in a figurative legal cluster f***, from both consumer who are ripped off and IP owners who works are taken with impunity.) These practices don't fly very well in the "core" console market and it will be only a matter of before the mobile market "wises" up.
