more people in the US have internet access than dont -- high speed connection is another thing, but more people have high speed internet than have HDTV's.

those numbers....geez, i was honestly kind of assuming that those numbers were exagerated.

just look at that:

ps2- 182,500
gc- 400,000
xbox- 35,714

i cant get over it. the average capcom game for the gamecube sells more than 10 times better than the average capcom game for the xbox. that means something, regardless of any variables.

marketshare is only relavent when it comes to 3rd party support, and even then, im not so sure. the percent of market share by nintendo and my post is a train wreck is not proportionate to the amount of 3rd party support the two consoles get. i dont know what nintendo is doing wrong, but its more than just market share. i have heard before that nintendo makes its 3rd party supports pay more in royalties than the other consoles...i dont know if thats true, but if it is, i guess it would explain a lot.

trust me...i dont think nitendo is perfect. i get down on nintendo as much as anyone, but nintendo is a business and business isnt about market share or "image" as much as it is about profit margins.

i was watching a business show on fox news the other day and one of the members of the panel suggested buying microsoft stock because of the upcoming release of the xbox 360. she said that it was going to wipe the floor with the ps3, partly because it wouldnt be out yet (no mention of the Revolution). as soon as this came out of her mouth, a couple other members of the panel instantly disagreed with her, saying that the xbox 360 was slowing microsoft down and that it was still losing money on the project.

point being, in the end, it all comes down to profits....i know its been said before, but apparently, nintendo doesnt view the HDTV aspect of gaming as " worth it" at this point. nintendo took the same stance on online gaming with the gamecube. as far as im concerned, they were dead right.

im not sure how much this hd crap would cost nintendo per console, but i dont think it will make that much of a difference....for those of you that have expirienced hd gaming....is it that much of a life changing expirience? it would be nice to have it as an option, but i can understand why they wouldnt go with it.

by the way, i do need to get a component cable for the cube...where is a good place to get one?

Xbox - seven titles, 250,000 copies
Game Boy Advance - seven titles, 3.4 million copies
PC & Misc. - 11 titles, 400,000 copies

FY 2005 Sales Estimates (4/01/2005 - 3/31/2006)
PlayStation 2 - 55 titles, 10.7 million copies
GameCube - four titles, 350,000 WTF? copies
Xbox - eight titles, 750,000 copies
Game Boy Advance - four titles, 1.25 million copies
PC & Misc. - zero titles, zero copies

Seriously... Capcom is SO anti-Nintendo, it's not even funny.

so 2004 average sales number per game is like this...

ps2- 182,500
gc- 400,000
xbox- 35,714
GBA- 485,714
PC & misc.- 36,363

assuming those sales numbers are right, capcom must be completely out of their minds....what is the source of those numbers?

this is somewhat demoralizing...but i guess nintendo knows what its doing...

just my luck. i guess the question is: how much would a given game need to sell to keep Capcom happy with an exclusive deal? 1.23 mill isnt good enough apparently.

i looked for another thread on this topic, but i couldn't find one, so don't kill me if there is one....

anyways, a lot has been made of the poor sales for RE4, but the numbers dont look that bad...

"- Capcom announced that Biohazard 4 / Resident Evil 4 for GameCube has sold 1.23 million copies worldwide, here are the breakdown:

Japan - 210,000 units
Europe - 360,000 units
North America - 660,000 units"

all i wanted was an xbox s-type controller....hahaha, but htere are some pretty interesting ideas. having a mouse and key board would be awesome...but how to do it...i havent read the whole thread, but if nintendo could incorperate a mouse into its controller, there would be no need for me to play FPS on the PC anymore.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Revolution vs XBOX360 vs PS3
« on: May 25, 2005, 09:30:38 AM »
this is all pretty interesting. the reason i started this thread was because i had heard that nintendo's console would be severely underpowered when compared to the sony and my post is a train wreck consoles. i guess i should have known better since that same trash was being said 4 years ago when the gamecube launched. it would be nice if nintendo just lied a little bit to hype the revolution up.

tpfkanep: this thread isnt premature or immature. all companies have released at least some specs. its worth the debate, and since there was no other thread on this subject that i could see, i think it was legit.

i think theperm is pretty much right.

it would greatly help nintendo if they could get 1 or 2 exclusive games from some big time 3rd party companies. games sell consoles. the hardware, controller, backwards compatibility, and extras are just a bonus.

nintendo needs to be assertive and even maybe help plan release dates for some of these 3rd party companies so that their games are over shadowed by nintendos own games. i buy into the idea that nintendo is its own worst enemy when it comes to 3rd party support. companies just dont like having to compete with the nintendo's quality games.

i think the key will be the revolution launch. they really need a great 3rd party exclusive game(s) at the launch if they want to pick up significant ground in the market share...however, the market share is over rated..."the myth of market share" by r. miniter is a good book on the subject.

i just hope the revolution doesnt pull a dreamcast.

it would have been nice to see more stuff, but you know the other companies will rip off any good idea that they have. i used to think nintend was just paranoid...but you can see just from the controlers of the new consoles how much these other companies still look to nintendo for ideas. im sure the last thing they want is to be ripped off of a great idea that may actually sell systems for them. that being said, it would have been nice to see something. even hearing some launch titles would have been nice.

I'm talking specs here. and for the record, i really dont know anything on this topic, and wanted some feedback. how do the computer nerds think the rev stands up to the other 2 consoles powerwise. all i have heard people say is power does matter blablabla...but honestly, from what we know so far, how will these 3 consoles compare powerwise?

44
its not going to happen. it makes no business sense. if nintendo releases the colsole this year, it would have to be in november at teh least. the day after thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day of the year. there is no way they are releasing it a week and a half before christmas. they would just be shooting themselves in teh foot.
