Nintendo Gaming / RE:To SP or not to SP...
« on: November 21, 2003, 04:38:17 AM »
Has anyone else had the problem where the space around the screen to the edge on the inside of the GBA SP gets little tiny scraches all the way around the screen? And around the controls? It is pi$$ing me off and im wondering if it is all GBA SP's that have this problem or is it just mine.

I think that the little spacers that are supposed to keep a gap between the 2 halves arent big enough.

Nintendo Gaming / GBA SP Battery Memory.
« on: June 01, 2003, 06:26:50 AM »
Before you delete/lock this I am putting it here because no one in the GBA section is answering and there is no1 in there, plus I think they are all to young to know in the first place, and I have to go somewhere soon so I need this answered quickly. Thanks. QUESTION: Am I able to charge my battery on the GBA SP whenever I want to without fear of it losing some of it life. I know that with some rechargable batteries if you charge them when they are not fully drained they work for a shorter and shorter amount of time overall. Does this happen with the GBA SP? Please don't lock for now.

Nintendo Gaming / New Bundle better than price drop
« on: May 17, 2003, 10:57:58 PM »
I saw an ad on TV but I think it was a USA commercial. It offered GCN plus the one of 4 games deal for $149.99. That seems a little low for Canadian funds but it was the first time I have seen that commercial and it was aired right after E3 ended so it had me thinking.

Nintendo Gaming / Smash Bros. Melee Profile Question
« on: May 17, 2003, 09:44:28 AM »
What are the profiles for... they dont even keep records or anything... or do they I can't find where. Is it just to make you feel like you have a personal name in the game because that is the only purpose I can see it serving.

Nintendo Gaming / Worst GC game ending
« on: April 11, 2003, 01:26:58 PM »
The ending to Animal Crossing really pissed me off alot... I was walking on the dock and slipped and cracked my head off the side and died... then floated to the secret GBA island and the fish ate what was left of my body... now whenever I turn the game on all I see is my body floating there and a mole that keeps yelling at me for reseting... It's not like I have a choice I can't float home to save. BAD ENDING.

Nintendo Gaming / Wind Waker is the best game ever
« on: April 07, 2003, 02:46:12 PM »
Quote

In my opinion, it's at least as good as OoT is. I do think time for feelings to set in is needed, but when I feel so passionate about a game when I beat it, my opinions usually don't change. Wind Waker may have been on the easy side, short it was not (not if you play all the sidequests!), but most of all it was so moving- no moment in a videogame can compare when I stepped into Hyrule for the first time, with everything in black and white, monsters frozen in place, the vast stretching country, the temple devoted to Link, all so much better when it all returned to color. I had tears welling up in my eyes then. That alone propelled it to the heights of OoT for me.

Hehe, I completely agree with you 100% and I think this game is 1000 times better then Ocarina of Time... I hope none of you mind me saying this because I know a lot of you guys like it. I never even beat Ocarina of Time because I found it SOOOOOO boring that right after I got old I stoped playing. Even the bonus disk remains collecting dust.

This Zelda game is now my #1 favourite GCN game because it has one of the best stories out of all my games and that is what I like in games. This game is not dull at any point and yes it is a little easy at points but it is still fun to play. And that Damn Old Guy who I have to hit more than 300 times took me a while to beat. Anyway, my point is that to all the people who thought that Celda was going to suck because of its look... you better go out now and get it. I was once like you and I love this game. (Never thought I would hear myself say that about this game). My second favourite game remains to be Eternal Darkness, and then Wave Race. Yes I have Mario, Fox, Metroid, and Smash but this is the most single player fun you can have. And once again this game is not short. Visit every island and help out each of them with their problems and then come back and tell me it's short.

Long live Link, or at least his next counterpart... I can't wait for the next game and I wouldn't mind seeing some SC2 looking graphics next time around the bend just to give the seires some variety. Hey the game coulda looked worse... Link coulda been made of paper.

Nintendo Gaming / Mario Kart GC New Pictures
« on: April 07, 2003, 02:27:15 PM »
I agree... I think they are new aswell but doesn't it look like a koopa in the kart?

Animal Crossing is Nintendo's Idea of a Compilation game and thats all were going to see out of them. But it will be interesting to see what new minigames will be in AC2 and if any super NES games will make the cut.

Nintendo Gaming / Mario Kart GC New Pictures

Are you sure because at E3 2001 the screen shots looked way different and the character models and vehicles looked different also. And didn't it only feature Mario and Luigi? And I haven't seen them before so I guess I am a little late. Oh well.

Nintendo Gaming / Mario Kart GC New Pictures
« on: April 07, 2003, 01:41:30 PM »
I was searching the net and I found something very interesting on google. I typed in mario kart and then clicked over a few times and I see some new mario kart GC SCREEN SHOTS from the new Mario Kart game. Now me and my friend were arguing if these pictures were real so I sent in a letter to IGN and asked them but so far they havent answered so I thought I would let you guys decide. This is a french site it looks like and me not being good at french I cant understand a word of it.

But the Screen Shots look like either a really weird looking koopa troopa in a kart or a bowser kid... ludwig von koopa... But from what I see this is looking pretty good. If anyone can translate the words for us we would be much obliged.

( www.puissance-nintendo.com ) is the main site.

Then click on [gamecube] under consoles on the left hand side of the page a little way down.

Then click on [preveiws gamecube] under the giant GAMECUBE word.

Then scroll down in [Catalogue Gamecube] and click on [Mario Kart NGC]

and then scroll down to the 3 screen shots and tell me what you think.

Sorry guys I would post a direct link but this would just end up getting locked for bandwidth theft.

Nintendo Gaming / OMG! Nintendo has the best Customer Service!
« on: March 17, 2003, 11:08:11 AM »
hey you know that problem the launch systems had with Eternal Darkness? about the hardware being unbalanced and spining the disk badly creating an audio skip? does that count as fked up? because I want to get that fixed by them too... it keeps getting worse. I don't even care if I get a new system or controllers because I have it all anyway but I want it fixed. Do you think they fix that kinda crap or can it even be fixed?

Nintendo Gaming / Disc reading error?
« on: March 16, 2003, 06:22:55 AM »
I do know that the hardware in the system is unbalanced in almost all of the launch systems making the disks spin wierd and unbalanced (causeing audio skip in dialogue such as the problem in ED) but I am not sure if this also has to do with a disk read error. I do know that when I play ED for to long I get that same error and yes I have a launch system.

I know that lens cleaner is most definately (99%) not the answer. I had a similar problem with my dearly departed Dream Cast. When I played Shenmue it would freeze whenever the game was loading a new area, half the time never getting out of my room at the very beginning. I tried a lens cleaner but it didn't work and I still have the same problem with that game and sometimes other games cant be read on it. BTW I made it to the 2nd disk in Shenmue but I gave up on it, had to keep restarting over and over at the same spots and got repetitively boring.

It's gonna blow more then just chunks IMO. Plus don't you need internet to play this to its fullest (insn't it an online type game?) which I am almost definate the GCN wont support. They take chances making the original NES online in Japan 12 years ago but now in a time where consoles are at their most popular and profitable stage, internet is in more homes then ever, and teenagers spending more money on clothes and entertainment then any previous recordorded year to date of course it would be dumb and nonprofitable (or at least more so then 12 years ago).

Nintendo Gaming / Good Racing Games
« on: March 16, 2003, 06:07:49 AM »
I still think Wave Race is the best "Racer" out there right now but if you want a racing game that looks sweet and it fast paced (and use racing wheel im pretty sure) then get Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 if you don't mind the occasional slowdown in framerate. This game is fairly deep; unlockable levels, cars, modes, objectives etc. so therefore it is the best i've seen in the GT3 type racing game for cube but the slowdown can be annoying.

is beach spikers $10 in Canada aswell? That translates to about $16 canadian.

First off I am not an IGN "fanboy" nor am I a PlanetGameCube "basher" but I strongly disagree with Ricks point of veiw of how IGN should post news.

Quote

Acutally, it's more a difference of opinion. IGN is pointing out something that really doesn't NEED to be pointed out because it's provacative and will entice their readers. I just don't get it. A good game is a good game regardless of the amount of NIPPLES in it. NIPPLES don't make a game BETTER, either. (See: BMX XXX, or DOA:XBV)

So why on earth would IGN even bother mentioning that point? As I said, it's was purely for the sake of enticing their readers.

If you know a game needs more attention then it is getting why wouldn't you add a point that would attract more readers. This is something that every good journalist all over the world does, IGN is not the first ever to throw something into a story to get more readers looking. If they lied and said the game had nudity and it really didn't then yes I would agree that they are only throwing in nonsense that shouldn't be in their GAME COVERAGE but they didn't and therefore it is a good peice of information that somebody (maybe not you personally Rick) would like to know. That is after all what IGN is, they are an internet site that covers gaming news from around the world. Nudity in a game is news so therefore they should add it to their PREVEIW for a game. What if a reader was wondering, "hmmm, I wonder if there is nudity in this game?" and was never informed about that fact and bought the game for his son? Then that reader would think "I wonder why IGN didn't mention that in their PREVEIW?" IGN went and said the new like this

Quote

Just in case all the gore isn't enough to secure an M rating, 3DO has seen fit to include something we're sure you'll all be interested in: naked breasts.

to attract readers as you/Rick and myself have already mentioned. If they had gone the "route" of PGC they would say something like "the game has nudity but nevermind that lets get back to the blood which makes me sick just thinking about (this game is so bad)", I don't think people would be as attracted to the article if they saw that. People look out for interesting things (nudity in games being a major contributor to this because the fact is that a lot of readers on online gaming news sites are between the ages of 13 - 17 and want to hear about these things). When I go onto the internet I skim a few GCN sites and look for the most interesting parts of news and read only those articles because I am busy and I don't want to be here for 2 hours reading every single thing. Just because you may be scared of the word BREASTS or NUDITY or NIPPLES doesn't mean other (kids-teens) people are not interested in hearing more on the subject. PLUS it is not everyday that (a "so-called" kiddy system) Gamecube gets a game with nudity in it. So I 100% agree with the way IGN went about sending the GAMING NEWS out to the reader in hopes to maybe have a few more people read the article then previously would have without their added "naughty words"

Nintendo Gaming / Soul Calibur 2 Discussion!
« on: February 23, 2003, 12:25:36 PM »
I have soul calibur for DC obviously and it was my fav game for the console. I still play it a lot. But i'm not sure if I would import it. Seeing what they say in the subtitles and reading the story that goes along with the game was some good stuff in the first one. The freeloader translates the language? And trust me the game has unlimited replay value. It doesn't get a 40/40 by famitsu (<-- spell check) if its not good. I think it was the 2nd game to get a perfect score by famitsu ever. Now there are 4 games that have 40 out of 40.
