Title: Operation build lucario's pc stand!
Post by: Wah on March 03, 2019, 05:21:07 AM
I have recently come into a fair bit of stable money now, and i am thinking of building my own pc. Small catch though i have no fucking idea what i am doing. I want to build the best possible for mostly video games, obviously if their are cheaper option available for the same part tell me however. Any help would be appreciated from the actual stand itself to the motherboard. What are the best options for parts atm and what are there price?

I would start with https://pcpartpicker.com/

By stand, do you mean desk?

Well, I'm not sure of PC part prices in Australia, but what is your budget?

If it was me, I would do an AMD Ryzen build with plenty of RAM and room for RAM expansion. SSD main drive or NVMe if you can swing it. A solid mid to high range video card and a power supply that can handle all those pieces. Better yet, two hard drives with one running Linux and one for Windows.

If money is no object, then go all out and get an i7 9700K and an RTX 2080, and 16GB RAM, but that's only if you care about 4K and ray tracing. If you want the best 1080p bang for your buck but, a Core i5 and a GTX 1060 or a GTX 1660Ti is the way to go. I'd wait a couple weeks for the non-Ti GTX 1660 to come out though.

Have you chosen Intel or AMD yet? This is an important decision!

If you have that much money and you want to spend it on a PC, then 100% go with Intel. Just get through fastest i7 out there, and the most expensive Nvidia card you want to buy. 16 GB RAM is plenty unless you're doing some major 4K video editing or something, that should cost about $115 unless you want to buy stuff with RGB lighting. You don't need to spend more than about $140 on a motherboard, but get a Z390 board of you buy an unlocked Intel CPU. Other than that, check the motherboard manufacturer website to see which SSDs ate compatible and get whatever you want that fits it. $1250 can get you an absolute monster of a machine. $2700 can get you that machine, a really nice 4K monitor, and tons of extras like lighting, more storage, etc.
