NWR Feedback / RE: What you think of the Change
« on: May 25, 2007, 11:56:24 AM »
I love it. It's been a long time coming.

The only thing I'd like to see is General Gaming split into a current and retro areas.

And YES, we badly need new software. vBulletin is awesome. I mean, look, FuseTalk was last updated in 2002!

Hear of a title called Boogie? That seems to be aimed at adults (the same way The Nightmare Before Christmas and Invader Zim were aimed towards older fans).

Boogies appeals to all ages, I'd say. It's not childish but it's not aimed at the older market either.

General Gaming / David Jaffe Goes Apeshit Crazy
« on: May 02, 2007, 10:35:23 AM »
LOLz:

http://criminalcrackdown.blogspot.com/

It all started when he posted a response to GameSpot's 6.7 for Calling All Cars (mistake #1). Then he made another posted calling the respondents to the original post all sorts of nasty names (mistake #2). Then he got all pissy because Joystiq made fun of him (mistake #3) and decided to close his blog for the time being (mistake #4). You can see Joystiq's response to his rather childish name calling here:

http://www.joystiq.com/2007/05/02/jaffe-swears-off-blogging-was-it-something-we-said/

I'm not a huge Joystiq fan but this is just, well, hilarious. I actually think this quote by Jaffe really proves the man is crazy:

"I like GAMESPOT, have respect for them, always have. Hell I pay for the damn thing every year."

Obviously no one in their right mind visits GameSpot, let alone pays for it or likes it.

We won't have official sales for another week or two, because of Golden Week, but supposed first day sales were 180,000 copies:

Does anyone have this? It looks quite good. I'll never understand why they didn't do it for DS (other than it being Capcom). It would've sold so much better.

ETA: Can someone move this to Other Systems?

EA graphics = not even trying.

I'm a little concerned they have yet to announce original IPs aimed at the older market...but this is still good?

I don't know how reliable they are, but VGChartz says the following are totals as of the 22nd (weeks out in brackets):

1. Pokemon Diamond/Pearl - 578,417
2. Super Paper Mario - 218,761
3. Wii Sports - 2,535,426 (aka number of Wiis sold)
4. Wii Play - 829,431
5. God of War 2 - 948,469
6. Diddy Kong Racing - 556,039
7. Tom Clancy: GRAW 2 - 477,478
8. MLB 2K7 (360) - 393,566
9. Wario Ware - 513,121
10. Twilight Princess (Wii) - 1,549,059
...
13. Bust-a-Move Bash - 19,849
16. Tiger Woods (Wii) - 180,848
18. Rayman - 441,730
19. Sonic - 218,416
23. Prince of Persia - 51,548
32. Cooking Mama - 60,634
46. Madden - 351,388

If accurate, those are really strong...

You guys, don't forget that it came out on the 21st of March. That means it had either 4 or 11 days on sale for that period, so that's pretty good. I'd imagine if they can sell a total of 35-50,000 by the end of its lifetime they'll be happy. Most important, though, is that the PS3 version didn't outsell it significantly. That's all that matters.

ETA: VGChartz says that the PS3 version has now sold just under 40,000 by April 22 with the Wii version having sold 22,000 by April 1st. The Wii version isn't on their charts after that (top 50) but the PS3 version wasn't on the April 1st chart so who knows? It does say that the Wii version outsold the PS3 version in their first week.

All the manuals need are to be actual manuals. They're missing the introductions and story sections and are written as controller guides not manuals. If they were more like real manuals they'd be fine.

Nope, but Kid Icarus IS for everyone. Castlevania a classic, and Mystical Ninja a highly praised game are just for fans.

But those latter two are HARD games. Kid Icarus is a cake walk! You know, like trying to walk over a lake with cake strapped to your feet. That kind of cake walk.

Yes it is a remake.
It's not so much a remake as it is a re-imagining.

Ok, I can agree with that. Still, it's superior! Though I can understand wanting both, just not the original over IV.

I don't get what Ken did. All his system designs were ugly. His controller design was terrible. The PS2 and PSX were two of the least user-friendly systems ever. Only the games saved them.
