Something similar happened to my friend's Gamecube. . . he replaced it, and his new one is working great.

Nintendo Gaming / Hardest Single Thing To Do On Gamecube?
« on: February 23, 2003, 06:39:16 AM »
Getting all 180 emblem thingies in Sonic would definitely be harder than the SSBM trophies. . . I'm only one away from having all of those.

Gads, Gamecube games have so much extra stuff to do.  I've been debating with myself whether or not to try to get the best ending in Metroid, and I've decided to do it when I get a new television.  I can't see jack crap on the one I have now. . . it's too dark.  The onl way I could see in Metroid Prime was because I played it on vacation, where there was another television.

But yes, I'd say those are just about the hardest things. . .

I never even heard about it. . . sounds promising, though, if it's being made. . .

Nintendo Gaming / My thoughts on various Nintendo commercials

Gads, not the Metroid Prime one I saw. . . of course I downloaded it, but it was still cool.  May not have shown on TV.  Starts with the words:

"The cold silence of space only punctuates the feeling of death that eminates from this virtual and lifeless planet."

while Samus jumps out of her ship and does a bunch of flips.

As for the other system commercials. . . all of those are crap, especially the PS2 ones. I hate the PS2/Walmart commercial, and that dumb Getaway commercial.

Definitely Super Smash Brothers Melee.  Other suggestions are Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, and basically any other Nintendo game.  Sega games, like Super Monkey Ball and Sonic, are also fun.  Resident Evil and Eternal Darkness if you like dark, spooky games.

Gamecube does have a few RPGs. . . I'm not a big fan of what are generally considered RPG games (like Final Fantasy), but Skies of Arcadia was the EGM game of the month, and I think there's some game called Evolution Worlds (don't know how good it is).  Fire Emblem is also an RPG, methinks, so if they ever make that again, sales will sky rocket.  Marth and Roy are quite popular now, so everyone's craving the series.

I haven't really seen any game commercials other than LoZ:WW (pretty good, but slightly corny).

The others, however, are quite cool.  For example that old one, "180 games.  What a rush." That one was awesome.

Nintendo Gaming / What do you think Nintendo's big holiday game will be?

Eventually blowing people up has to get boring.  Some smart people may realize that Gamecube has more diversity (well, between Sega, Capcom, and Nintendo, at least.  Most of the third party games are pretty typical) than the other two systems, despite the fact that PS2 has many more games.  They're just all the same.  That's GOT to get boring.

GTA is fun, though.

I doubt they've had enough time to develop a game with it yet.  It is a recent addition, isn't it?  Games often take a while to make. . .
