Is that single ds split screen multiplayer? Has that been done before?

4000 yen sounds a little pricey, I assumed it would be free to play with the cards being how they made their money. Perhaps there is more than meets the eye in terms of gameplay.

You all laughed, you called him crazy and delusional.
BUT GUILLAUME CALLED IT! SKIP LTD RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE!

As for the game it's self it looks kinda low budget and generic compared to the chibi of days past, although I'll reserve judgement.

As far as I can tell there is no touch screen support whatsoever, although that's something Nintendo is guilty of as of late so it's excusable.

Well there's always Devil's Third if you want a more by the numbers shooter, although I think the market will speak for it's self which kind of game it wants.

The thing that differentiates Splatoon from GoldenEye paintball mode is that in Splatoon the paint acts as both censorship and a unique gameplay mechanic that could not be achieved with bullets. The paint splats two birds with one stone and can appeal to both children who are too young to play actual shooters, but also adults who can appreciate the game's design and the strategy associated with being a squid kid.

This is incredible value, however it is only for the US. So not only is Nintendo's region locking policies harming their own profits, it has now harmed charities. I would love to give you my money Nintendo but you just don't want it.

I don't really necessarily want much from E3, most of my dream games either have already been made or in the process of being made. However I hope that Nintendo teams up with GANBARION again to produce another original action-rpg for either 3ds or wii u. I just finished Pandora's Tower on virtual console and it is truly a masterpiece (if you'll pardon the pun). It is difficult to describe why it clicked with me without writing an essay, but what I can say is that in my opinion it succeeds where Metroid Prime fails in terms of world building. It beats Zelda any day of the week in terms of combat and 3rd person RPG elements. In terms of story while it's certainly not Xenoblade Chronicles, it is in the top percentage of Nintendo games (or at least co-developed games) where the developers actually tried to create a compelling story. Compared to your average Mario/Metroid/Zelda which have none existent plot for 95% of the game, not that there's anything wrong with that but it's a nice change of pace for once. So yeah, just do that again but not a direct sequel pls.

Wii Fit U was a mistake, it's nothing but trash.... probably... I wouldn't know.

Gamecube had not one but two awesome almost-fully-featured 3D Pokemon games and it did nothing for it. I'm sure they could move some units if they put some effort into the marketing, but why bother when you can release it on handhelds and sell 10 million copies overnight?

My bet is Gamefreak is struggling with the woes of 240p development and won't have another main game untill 2016.

Etrian Mystery Dungeon was received very well so hopefully they have learnt from the mistakes that were made with Gates To Infinity.

1365
Wait you want them to promote their current games which NEED attention? In that case the line up would be;
1). Code Name S.T.E.A.M : Lincoln Vs Aliens
2). Code Name S.T.E.A.M : Lincoln vs Aliens
3). Code Name S.T.E.A.M : Lincoln vs Aliens

With the grand final being a head to head of the upcoming unannounced hotly anticipated virtual console release of Disaster : Day of Crisis.

It is important to also note that staves and consumables will apparently still be limited, so there won't be any infinite warping shenanigans.

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo Announces E3 Plans
« on: May 18, 2015, 05:25:23 PM »
The common theories for why we don't get demos are that early E3 demos run on dev kits and could potentially brick systems, limiting it improves their relationship with best buy and the demos can be datamined for spoilers. Although they could atleast throw us a bone, something like Project Giant Robot would have been a nifty little toy to mess around with since it's not really a proper game yet so they don't stand to lose anything by giving it out for free.

Shower thought, what if Giant Robot is the spiritual successor to Chibi Robo and is 2015's big holiday title, you never know with Miyamoto he's as unpredictable as radioactive decay.

Podcast Discussion / Re: Episode 430: Dad Humor Overload

I felt both using just motion controls or just the right stick was clunky, but the most organic way to play Splatoon was the combination of both, depending on the situation it allows for either wide or precise movements and just felt great in my opinion.

The Ruby/Sapphire remakes actually sold 10 Million copies which is crazy when you think about it. I got the game myself and haven't properly sunk my teeth into it yet, maybe I'm part of the problem...

As for Jonny's career wide crusade to turn Pokemon into Final Fantasy, I would actually recommend the DS mystery dungeon games. As James said in his very original review the story and presentation is shockingly good and despite the somewhat tedious gameplay there is something mysteriously addictive about it.

1369
I'm starting to get the feeling that Zelda "will" be there in spite what Nintendo has said. Something tells me the winds are blowing in a new direction. Unless what ever new announced game are also open world type games then yeah Zelda will be there.
I think the methodology behind Zelda is that they don't want to overshadow their other announcements with a game that won't be out for another year and a half. A good conference is like a fruit smoothie, say Star Fox is a kiwi, Animal Crossing is a peach and Metroid is a mango. Whereas Zelda (in the eyes of the media and in terms of general mind share) is a watermelon, yes you now have more fruit but the component sum of it's parts are now smaller by comparison.

In 2016 Wii U development will be winding down so there will be naturally less Wii U software with them moving onto the NX or even the hypothetical MX, so why not save your big watermelon blowout for when times are tough and you need it most? For example does anyone remember which games/features were announced during the 2014 games awards?

1370
Awesome! Square Enix moved their conference so that it doesn't clash. I am now most looking forward to watching Xenoblade/ SMTXFE and Deus Ex/Just Cause live rather than after the fact.

My prediction for today is that the account system will not show up at E3 since Iwata has hinted at such. Although even when the system does come out you will still have to pay for Super Mario Brothers again on the NX.

Oh my how ironic for an article about releasing unfinished products  :P:

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo and the Post-Relase Patch
« on: May 14, 2015, 07:25:26 PM »
Games weren't perfect before patches, they can be a force for good if they aren't abused and Nintendo are by no means above releasing unfinished games (Wind Waker anyone?). Smash Brothers Melee had balance "patches" between each release but due to technology they couldn't be applied to each territory, Majoras Mask had a "patch" in the form of owl statues but only for the West, Fire Emblem for Gamecube had been "patched" to inculde higher difficulties, Fatal Frame 2 had a game breaking bug and subsequently was never released in the US, Metroid Other M had game breaking bugs, Skyward Sword had game breaking bugs.

X/Y, Smash Bros and Tropical Freeze also had game breaking bugs but this time round they were able to be fixed in a way that didn't involve sending your SD card to Nintendo.

I spent more time playing the mini games than I did playing the main game in New Super Mario Bros. It also featured the worst save system I have ever encountered in a video game.

1374
The idea of World Championships is to get the biggest high score and not to compete against others directly, so I can't see Splatoon working very well. My proposal is Pikmin, it has a high skill ceiling requiring both strategy and dexterity.

I think the issue is Nintendo airs just before the show floor opens so they couldn't move back, and there are twice as many conferences this year so Square Enix couldn't move forward. Although I can't think of any reason why Square's announcements couldn't just be made during Sony's conference like they used to be.
