Super Mario Sunshine ought to win in the category it was nominated.

gimme a break. Sly should win easy.

As should Prime for GOTY, and AC for innovation, both very deserving.

all in all a great showing for the big N

Its good to see Eternal Darkness nominated, IMHO it was the seccond best game released on any plataform in 02 behind MP. I wished it could win, but its going to be Samus's day at the awards Now... If MP wins it, will Nintendo plaster GOTY on the cover of Metroid Prime like M$ did with Halo?

Nintendo would put GOTY 2002 on the player's choice box if it wins. Nintendo put awards on their player's choice games. I hope that Nintendo puts Innovation 2001 for Pikmin. Nintendo also put GOTY 1998 on the Zelda pre-order.

I want TS2 to win something too. It really is a great game. Too bad Metroid will beat it (I like Metroid a lot too). It would be kind of funny (in an ironic sort of way) if TS2 beat Metroid.

Nintendo should have put "Game of the Century" on the OOT pre-order box, i recall numerous publications praising OOT as game of the century.

I think Nintendo will take the greater number of the Awards there. And if Metroid or Animal Crossing wins the overall they will more than likely (unless AIAS is on some serious drugs) win the console of the year award. I really don't think Eternal Darkness of Splinter Cel have a chance of wining Console game of the year.

there is no way metroid will have any problem nabbing top honors
splinter cell is a very good game but i still like metal gear a little more
gta vice city is good, but massively overhyped
i still do not know why animal crossing is up there
and i think the other one was ratchet and clank

i own a ps2, i got gta vice city but returned it.........i didnt like it that much
ratchet and clank was a good game but not as good a mario sunshine

hopefully metroid wins all of its awards...thats pretty good for retro being as it is their first game and all.......................

They are going to announce the winners tomorrow. I hope that Animal Crossing and Eternal Darkness win some awards. It would be amazing if Metroid Prime went 10 for 10.

Finalists for 2003's Console Fighting Game of the Year include:
• Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee for the PlayStation 2, published by Infogrames, developed by Pipeworks Software

Wait a second, why does it say for Nintendo Gamecube only? I hope thats a typo. I'm not complaining though, I'm just glad to see it. Great game.

I completely agree.  I seriously think that Halo and GTA3 would not have been nearly as big if it weren't for post-awards advertisments with "Game of the Year" plastered all over.  Both games are still selling.  A new Metroid Prime commercial with "Game of the Year" written all over it (and a good amount of game footage to show off the graphics) could greatly boost sales.  Plus it's now available for FREE with a Gamecube puchase.  The Xbox Sega bundle certainly sold Xboxes.  Think how well a "Game of the Year" Gamecube bundle will sell.

Of course knowing Nintendo they'll probably just put a "Game of the Year" logo on the box and do nothing else.
