I have no interest in online gaming either.  Deguello's point is very valid but not the only strike against it.  How about the issue of cost?  I can barely afford to buy a console and video game and memory card and extra controllers as it is.  By the time your equiped to play an offline game you've invested around $200 and the Gamecube the cheapest console out there! A monthly fee?  Out of the question.  I'll not deny that the lure of competing in SSBM online or downloading new areas for Pikmin is strong, but not that much.

I think that this is a remarkably accurate assesment of the GC's performance thus far.  Just had to say that.

Saw it at 8 Am today in a packed theatre and it was great.  I'm glad that this was such an improvement over Reloaded.  Reloaded was good, but just didn't feel right.  You know?  Probably not.  In  any case, Revolutions could have been better, but I'm happy.  Not even close to the original but a satisfactory ending.

I can't believe that I never got around to seeing Once Upon a Time in Mexico as I loved the first two movies.  Oh well, I'll get to it eventually.

Has anybody else bought the soundtrack to KB yet?  I really cannot understand any person who hasn't.  Al Hirt and Nancy Sinatra on one CD!!!  Even if Kill Bill was a crap movie in every other respect, I'd love it simply for the music.  Unfortunately, one of the coolest songs in the whole movie isn't on the soundtrack.  I have no idea who it is by or what it is called but it plays when the Bride is calling O-Ren out to fight.  Hopefully it will be on the soundtrack for Volume 2.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Are Games Getting To Easy?
« on: October 13, 2003, 04:36:47 PM »
While I'll admit that WW was not very difficult, it was not so easy as to be annoying.  It provided a few amusing puzzles and fun boss fights.  The enemies were typically easy to kill but I always had lots of fun doing it.  That is something I can't say for most games.  Viewtiful Joe is very challenging and requires you to really master the game.  The result is that beating the game is greatly rewarding and is an event you will not soon forget.  That kind of challenge has became less and less common in games as developers try to appeal  to the mainstream.  While us hardcores may appreciate the difficulty, I wonder how it will be recieved by more casual gamers.

The thing about Jar-Jaromir is a joke.  But you knew that, right?  Please tell me you knew that.

IF something like that were to make it into ROTK it would be the worst thing to ever happen.  Period.

Tarantino did not make From Dusk Til' Dawn.  He was in it, he may have co-wrote it, but he did not direct it.  Robert Rodriguez, the guy who made the Spy Kids movies made it.  I kid you not.  Sorry.  QT's other movies are Resevoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown.  Kill Bill, Vol. 1 at least, is as good if not better than Pulp Fiction though nothing like it.  I am so angry that this movie has been split in two.

I've seen this twice since release and I love it!  I have a feeling that this is a love it or hate it movie.  Both audiences I've seen it with loved it for the most part with a few people who just did not get it.  Kinda scary to see dozens of people luaghing wildly at the sight of a man sliced in two though... wow.

OK, I'm going out of my mind here.  I've downloaded the trailer (an .asx file) but I can't play it.  Windows MP9 just keeps giving me an error message.  I want so very badly to see this thing but I'm stumped.  How spoiler heavy is  it anyway?  I don't want to watch it if it gives away everything.  Doesn't matter in the end though, I'll find some way of watching it because I wan't the game NOW!  This delay is killing me...

I'm already mad.  Cause I can't play the freekin trailer!!!  I dowloaded the .asx file (whatever that is) and everytime I try to play it with Windows Media Player 9 all I get is a "Window Media Player cannot play this file" message.  No matter what I do, I get this same message.  I'm going to go insane!  Someone, PLEASE, tell me how to play this thing.  I'm depending on you.

Don't get me wrong, the music in Prime was great, but I'd like to see a big change in that area for the next game.  None of the music in Prime was bad, however, it wasn't very metroidy.  You know?  I'd like to see (or hear, whatever) something less techno and more organic/orchestrated sounding.  I've been spoiled by Super Metroid I know.  That game had one of the best soundtracks ever.  This isn't an area that I'm really worried about though.  I know whatever the soundtrack is like, it will be good.  I'd just be overjoyed to see anything close to the SM soundtrack.

Well, IGN just put up a bunch of brand-new shots of the game and I gotta say that I'm more confused than ever.  This looks to be one of the wierdest games ever.  Many of the shots are obviuosly from in-game cinemas.  Others appear to be in some sort of fps mode.  And then there are several pics that are completely baffling.  I'm definately intrigued.

Yeah, DK 64 was a chore.  I completed the game but that dosn't mean that I liked it.  Near the end it had nothing to do with winning and everything to with sticking it to the game's designers.  I'm well aware of how little sense that makes but as twisted as it is, that was the only motivation I had.  I was surrounded by other distractions when I was playing JFG that contributed to my abandoning of that effort.  It was a fun game, I just couldn't find any reason to go on after that annoying discovey.  I'ts been so long since I played it now that if I pick it up I'm totally lost.  I'm afraid that I'm not going to play it all over again just to see the final boss.

The ONLY game I own and have never completed is Jet Force Gemini.  I was rather enjoying the game and then I was told to go back and collect ALL of those freekin teddy bear things on top of a bunch of ship parts.  I've hardly touched the game since.

The Metroid games have never been about multiplayer.  It goes against the very nature of the game and I simply have no interest in it.  Hmmm, co-op may be interesting though.   Imagine a scenario (A purely hypothetical one based on no facts whatsoever)  in which Samus activates some sort of miniature flying robot droids.  Now imagine that the second, third and fourth players could control them to survey an area, search for secrets, provide cover fire or even activate otherwise unreachable switches.   It's far out there, I know but I think that could be pretty cool.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Am I the only one hyped up about Rebel Strike?
« on: August 30, 2003, 05:31:17 PM »
Yes, the RS series is pretty arcadie, but I wouldn't have it any other way.  I am concerned about what new things this game may present though.  I get the feeling I've seen everything they're showing in Rebel Strike so I'd like to use some new ships and see some exotic locales.  Co-Op is going to be awesome though and yes, Factor 5 is proving itself yet again to be technically way ahead of the curve.

Nintendo Gaming / NINTENDO GAMES = BAD REPLAY VALUE

Nintendo makes great games if not the best. I loved Metroid, Zelda, Mario, Eternal Darkness, Star fox etc. My only problem is that these games never have a good reason to replay them after you beat them. It would be cool if you can unlock game modes or get super weapons etc. The only game i replayed for gamecube has been eternal darkness and i still didn't beat it the third time yet. My games are collecting dust because i have no more reasons to play them. They were great while they lasted but i have no interest to replay games like zelda because link is in his pajamas, thats not enough for me, why not make a flying boat that can go anywhere in the world or something that will make the second experience through the game just as pleasing as the first.

= The exact opposite of the way I see things.

The only one of those games I have not played through at least twice is Mario.  I was rather glad to be through with that one by the end, actually.
