Yooka-Laylee Now Releasing In Early 2017: New Trailer
« on: June 06, 2016, 02:51:18 AM »

Refining the googly eye engine requires time.

Playtonic Games will need a few more months of prep time before Yooka-Laylee emerges.

The company announced today that the N64-inspired platformer would release in Q1 2017 (January - March) instead of the promised October 2016, citing a desire to add some more polish time to the schedule.

The announcement was accompanied by the release of the game's E3 trailer, which you can see below:

Looks great. Good thing I already have way more to play than time to play. Hopefully by early 2017 I'll be ready for it. ;D

Early 2017 is still a really good turn around from kickstarter to release. It looks like it's shaping up to be a well crafted game made by professionals.

Agreed. Is this game going to get a retail release, or digital only?  (At this point it might not be known?)

I expected a delay, so I'm not disappointed. I just hope it still releases on Wii U.

Hopefully we will see more gameplay at E3. The trailer looks really good.
Not surprised by the delay.

I haven't been following this game's development all that closely, but I'm a little more interested after that trailer. It'll be interesting to see which version ends up being the best since Playtonic also revealed today that they'll be handling the Wii U version themselves so that it gets the "right attention". Even if it isn't the best one, it's nice to know that they are putting some care into it.

Considering how much more polished it looks, i'd say the time is worth it. Plus there's the whole question of how NX fits into this.

The game's looking good, but I could REALLY do without the Banjo-Kazooie-style garblespeak, which was annoying enough in those games. Hopefully it's just a cute in-joke for the trailer.

I actually liked the garble speak in BK, especially Gruntilda's lines.

At the time I just saw the garblespeak as a clever way to work around the N64's cartridge limitations and have pseudo-voice acting.  Without the technical need for such a feature I'm not sure how I feel about it.  If a new Banjo-Kazooie came out today I would probably expect it to have voice acting using the same voice actors that did the N64 garblespeak.

Looks good. I'm still not fond of Laylee's design. I think it's the nose.

This is looking pretty good, I think I will be picking up a copy for Wii U (or NX if that comes to be)
