Mega Man Legacy Collection Announced For 3DS
« on: June 08, 2015, 05:16:08 AM »

Don't call it a comeback, he's been here for years with vanishing blocks leaving suckers in tears.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/40398/mega-man-legacy-collection-announced-for-3ds

After a five year hiatus, Mega Man is returning to consoles with a new collection of classics for the 3DS.

Releasing this winter for 3DS, the Mega Man Legacy Collection will retail for $14.99 / €14.99 / £11.99 and include the 6 NES Mega Man games. The games are being developed by Digital Eclipse on an engine that claims "faithful reproductions of the originals" while adding online leaderboards and demonstration videos.

The Legacy Collection will be the first Mega Man game to release outside of the Virtual Console since 2010, when Mega Man 10 released on WiiWare and the Mega Man Zero Collection launched on the DS.

$15?? I have all these games downloaded on my 3DS and my Wii U. I have the Mega Man Anniversary Collection for my GameCube AND my PS2. I still have me NES Mega Man cartridges. But for $15, I'll gladly support these classics yet again!

I really don't see the point to buying this collection if you still have a device that can play the Mega Man Anniversary Collection, which had more games & more features. Seriously, Capcom, why isn't the Remix feature in this at least? Saving it for future DLC?

Given the price, it seems pretty hard to complain.  Oh wait, broodwars and azeke already posted...
 ;)

I'm kind of disappointed it's not coming to Wii U.  I would have probably purchased there, or if a retail version was released, but am not keen on buying as digital content on my 3DS.  Still pretty awesome news though.

If anyone's wondering why it's not on WiiU, it would cut into VC game sales.  MM1-6 are all out on VC, so it makes no sense for them to compete with themselves.

Aside from that, who the hell wants to buy this anyway?  "HD" graphics?  Give me a break.  They could have EASILY done both - updated all 6 games into high color, HD tiles with identical gameplay AND give us the original versions.  They did it with Super Turbo, why couldn't Megaman have gotten the same treatment?

Aren't they all available on the 3DS, though? And PSN?

Mega man 1 - 6 are also on the 3DS virtual console, they have no excuses for not making a Wii U version. Nintendo gave Mega Man the honour of appearing in Smash Bros and Capcom returns the favour by spitting in their face. I'll probably still buy it to support the franchise though...

11 years is an awful long time to keep a device hooked up for Mega Man Anniversary Collection, especially if you were stuck with the Gamecube's mildly screwed control scheme and the collection's rather subpar emulation.

At least Cacpcom is saving  me money -- now i don't need to buy Mega Man NES games on 3DS as i was planning.

Now i will wait till 3DS port comes out, wait till impressions and then maybe get it.

The Legacy Collection probably won't utilize restore points, though, Azeke... and a few of these games (especially the original) are impossible to complete without them!

Mega Man 1 is perfectly beatable without restore points.

Also that legacy collection is a modern game so most likely it will have a casual mode as well.

If this contained the Game Boy games, I'd be interested.

Have you played MMAC with unchangable reversed controls.  I did (I still have it) and it is terrible.  I can beat these games from 25 years of muscle memory, but when you reverse the controls it just becomes a pain in the arse.

The GameCube version was the only one with the ****ed up controls.
