Like Kairon said, it is admirable of Nintendo to keep the price point of Wii games at 50 bucks instead of the $60 that are seen on other consoles (and even at least one of Nintendo's previous consoles).  But, with it comes the downside that everyone keeps mentioning.  Nintendo doesn't lower the price of their own games.

Remember back in the days of the Cube when Nintendo would deem a game "worthy" of it's  Player's Choice award and lob 20 dollars or whatever it was?  Sure that was probably to squeeze as many sales out of the poor system as it could.  But now with these "evergreen" titles, they don't have to do that because the games just.keep.selling. - making it a little harder to swallow for some of us bargain shoppers.

Maxi, I can see your information when I go to "leave my town" but when I try to connect to yours it says that there's no response or that you may have disconnected from Nintendo WFC already.

I think it's just being super slow.

Hope everyone had a nice holiday season.  It's nice to see that everyone is enjoying the game!  I had been out of town to visit family over the past week and came home to find that my turnips are at an all time low :(  My question to you folks is, does anyone have turnips selling over 95 bells?  I'm getting desparate because I have a TON of turnips that I don't really want to lose all my money on.  Anyone that can help would be greatly appreciated!

I didn't steal any flowers, they were too awesome to take!  Tell your mom not to be sad though.  I'll send a present to you for her tomorrow to cheer her up.  And/or because I think it's awesome that your mom's house is about 1000 times nicer than mine.

So many people were playing tonight.  It was awesome.  Also, typing to communicate has really provided for some hilarious moments that just couldn't be recreated using Wii Speak.  As great as the Wii Speak mic works, there's just something about watching little text bubbles pop up over your characters' heads with broken English and internet jargon in them.

I'm pretty sure that the ability to take screen shots is my favorite feature in this game.

Does anyone know if Brewster can hold an unlimited amount of Gyroids?  I've been stocking him up almost every time I pull one outta the ground and was hoping I didn't have to worry about running out of storage space.

He'll hold one of every type of gyroid.

Excellent. That's what I was hoping.  Thanks for the info.

The ideals, direction, and motivation cultivated during the PS2 cycle would only lead to self-destruction.

Little bit over-dramatic, don't you think?

Dramatic but true

In the "Pride goeth before a fall" sense, anyway.  I can't see how Sony's success with the first two Playstations could have led them to making the PS3 unless I factor in vast amounts of hubris.  I guess they just didn't bother to examine the roots of their own success.

It is basically why N64 struggled. Nintendo thought they could do no wrong and people would buy whatever they put out on whatever format they chose. Unlike Nintendo though, Sony doesn't really have the games nor the price/cost for their system going for them.

I just don't understand why Sony didn't learn from Nintendo's mistake?  Dominate system -> cocky attitude towards consumers and business practices -> lost market lead next time around.  Wouldn't you, as the leading company, think to yourself, "okay, the company we took the lead from was in a similar situation, lets do what we can to make sure what happened to them doesn't happen to us!"  Isn't that part of being a business?  Learning from others mistakes and staying ahead of the pack?  Don't they understand that the market changes and that they have to be ready for it?  Obviously going with the exact same strategy they did for the PS1 and PS2 might not be the most sound idea...

The more of theses editorials that Kairon puts up examining Sony and the PS3, the more I come to realize just how big of a blunder Sony has made of this whole situation.  Who allowed for this all to take place?  Wasn't there anyone that was kind of like... "hmm, maybe we should look at where the market might be heading instead of jumping on PS2-ALL-OVER-AGAIN train?"  Wasn't one of the reasons Nintendo took such a radical direction with the Wii because the Japanese game market had begun taking such a downward turn?

It just seems like no one at Sony was paying any attention to what was happening around them.

Cheezus Krispe people, No More Heroes has been $20 for over HALF A YEAR ALREADY.

Haha, my bad.  It just kind of fell off my radar I guess.  Well, if I don't recieve it for Christmas, I know what I'll be getting with any money I receive.

Heyo, I'm fairly new as well.  I've been lurking for years now since around '04 I believe.  I had some other account name but forgot all about it and probably only posted twice back then.  I've been posting in other threads and forums more recently, but figured I better introduce myself here if I didn't already way back in the day.  Not sure why I never really posted before.  Intimidation maybe?  Uncle Bob's nipple picture from a while back?  Fear of sounding like an idiot when I would post?  I dunno, probably a combo of all of those.

But, really enjoy the community here and the "interesting" conversations/debates that take place.  Lots of strong views but with the smarts to back it up - what more could you ask for in a forum?

I still need to actually get the game. :(

Is that a limited time only thing?  Or is it a permanent pricing?  Because I might be getting it for Christmas.  If I don't, I'll know where to go.
I hear that it's only $20 on newegg.com?

Isn't it amazing what a cheap price and the waggle wand did for Nintendo?

I wore and eye mask for a while and never fell, your mask must be heavy.

You're probably right.  I'm assuming the mask is made of solid gold because it was something like 12,000 Bells.

20
So, I went fishing a lot today and bought this really cool King Tut mask for a bajillion bells.  It was worth it.

Little did I know, that apparently wearing this mask impairs your vision causing you to trip and fall while running.

And fall I did.

I fell after reading my message board.

I fell going to Nooks.

I fell waiting for the bus.

I fell leaving the Able Sisters.

I fell going down my ramp.

I fell down at the beach.

I fell crossing a bridge.

I fell going to my house.

I fell going to my new neighbors house.

I fell on my way to the museum for a cup of coffee.

I fell while fishing.  It got away.

I even fell while trying to catch a dung beetle.

All in all, it was a very rough day.  I just like my mask too much to take off.

that makes sense because I've noticed it isn't always there.  Too bad you can't catch it though.  It would be fun to let it loose in your house and have it fly around.

It's funny you say that, because the first two days that I had the game, my sister would try and catch the bird at any chance she got.

Does it weird anyone else out that Samba de Amigo only sold a little over twice what WALL-E sold.  And that people actually went out and bought that game?

23
Here's just a few pictures from when I was at Maxi's and when he and Kairon were at my town.

^ Chillin' in style at Maxi's pad (Oh yeah, I went there)

^ Me enjoying a cup of coffee at the Looney museum.

^ There was kind of a rummage event at the gates of my town.  I had so much random stuff to get rid off.  What is a Wave Breaker?!

^  Part of our conversation has nothing to do with the Football Fish, but the results were pretty funny.

^ And finally, Kairon and I ponder just how we plan on tag teaming Phyllis and Pelly.

Today I went to Maxi's town.  It was a lot of fun.  He has a sweet looking house.  I got a ton of oranges from him and also some stationary and a flag from his Nook store.  Then Maxi came to my town to visit with my animals.  We both have Spork the Pig.  How does that happen?!  Alternate dimensions?  Anyway, after a while, Kairon came over and we had a great time.  Unfortunately, Kairon didn't have his Wii Speak microphone hooked up, but we made due with typing.  It was actually kind of humorous communicating that way.  After chasing each other with nets for some time, we decided to go to Maxi's town.  Sadly while there, I was disconnected.  :(

All in all, a great day though!

Ahh, sorry I'm so late.  The roads were terrible and it took us forever to get home.  I'm back now if anyone is still playing.
