I've logged just over 50+ hours on this game.  I'm now starting to appreciate just how excellent the controls are.  A buddy of mine, who owns the PS3 Don's Edition talked about how he doesn't even use most of the controls.  The Wii makes controlling the character intuitive.  This is definitely a gameplay experience that's been enhanced because of the Wii controller.

The gunplay has a little bit of learning curve, but imagine my surprise during hour # 30, when my hitsquad (of 5 members) took on a whole compound.  What was even better was the ability to use the free-roaming control with the Wiimote.  You can move around in third person and aim at the same time and toggle back to regular Z-targeting conrols.  Freakin' excellent.

Imagine if EA (developer not known) can tighten up these controls...all kinds of gameplay scenarios would open up.

There are a few games out there that really make use of the Wiimote (Zelda, Rayman, Wario Ware)...I will definitely add The Godfather.

Now if THQ can use some of these fighting controls (the grabs and punches, as well as throwing motions)...look out!

I think I've finished everything there is to do in the game. My objectives list is literally empty.

I'm at level 49, but I don't know how I'll make it to 50 without anything to do/kill and I don't feel like driving trucks back and forth for five hours.

I HAVE IT! I GOT IT!

I had a target giftcard lying in my wallet for AGES and it was worth 50 bucks! YESSSSSS!!!!!

... Now I have to wait for my little bro to beat Thardus in MP2 for his casual replaying of the game before I can plug my Wii in... /happy

Wii R hardkor.

Backtracking is like blinking and breathing.  We know our destinations and the fastest way to get there.

We can backtrack thru whole regions in a Metroid Prime game in less time than one can take to backtrack with the help of an Ocarina teleport song.

Got the Godfather this weekend. LOVE IT. Controls are very good, even my two Wii-finicky friends like the controls. Game is satisfying so far, tons of stuff to do.

I've got Godfather. Trying not to lose what little bit of a life I have. The game doesn't seem special in any way... until you realize you're just spent the last 4 hours extorting businesses and doing hits and stuff. I fear for my free time...

I actually like the world layout here. Very awesome. I'm never, EVER, lost thanks to a very useful combination of good world design, easy driving controls, good map functions and a neat minimap. I almost feel like GTA has been blown away in every area I care for... except for the satire inherent in GTA's stations.

I'm enjoying Godfather much more than the GTA games as well, their is much more depth to the gameplay. I've never been a huge fan of the GTA games, due to their shallow play style and their crudeness and violence. The violence and language in this game are still a bit more than I would like, but I suppose that's the nature of a Godfather license.

My cousin liked the Godfather on my Wii so he went and got the 360 version. I went over and tried it out last night.

I think the Wii controls are definitely much more fun, especially the hand to hand combat. The 360's graphics are slightly better, very slightly. I think it has a little less popup and slightly better lighting. Playing side by side it would probably take a while to notice the difference.

Plus, the Wii version has a more advanced talent tree and more missions.

The game didn't crack March NPD.  Def Jam came in at #10 with 148K copies.

In March NPD, it didn't break top 10 Wii software either, selling somewhere below 25k for that month. The Don's edition on PS3 is known to have broken the PS3 top 10 and sold somewhere above 22k units for the month.

PS3 was like 23k, Wii was 19k.

At least the low PS3 sales indicate that maybe it's the fact that most have played the game before and not the fault of the Wii.

This game deserves better sales on the Wii. To all these people moaning about drought, if you haven't played this game before, get it. Otherwise, The Corleones will make things tough on you, capiche?

Really consider how much it cost them.  I think if EA made just as large a percentage off of those 19k then it did on the original the numbers be fine.
