I loves me my 360
« on: May 28, 2008, 02:40:37 PM »
So a week and a half ago I did it, I took the plunge, bought a nice new HD TV (32" samsung, *glee*) and bought a 360.

I never thought I would say this but, the 360 is freaking awesome. I even realize I like *gasp* halo 3. My first 4 games are dead rising, halo 3, gta IV and gears of war. All are fun in their own way and Xbox live just makes everything that much more awesome.

I wish Nintendo would have just copied microsoft in this regard.

The marketplace is really what is holding my interest though, Ikaruga on DC was one of my favorite games and I am so happy to be able to play it without having to hook up my broken down DC (well the system is fine but the controllers, not so much).

Pacman CE has me glued to my Xbox longer than any game on the Wii has and going through each game to unlock achievements is strangely addicting.

It's weird how I look forward to just coming home to beat a high score just to see myself move up on a ladderboard and so I could show off to my Live buddies . . . it makes me happy to enjoy gaming again.

All in all I couldn't be happier with my purchase and I hope to see some of you on Live one of these days ;)

I give it six months before you system breaks.  ;)  Also, happy belated birthday.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Nintendo shouldn't copy Xbox Live from Microsoft, they should follow the chain. Microsoft copied SegaNet from Sega and called it Xbox Live, Sony copied Xbox Live from Microsoft and called it PlayStation Network, so Nintendo needs to copy PlayStation Network from Sony and call it Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection 2.0.

Well I just had my first real LIVE experience tonight with some Halo 3 and GTA IV multiplayer with a bunch of people from work, so much fun =D

Voice chat is win.

"Nothing says a great next generation system like one where the best experience is a 20+ year old arcade game."

I didn't say it was the best experience but damn is it fun! Bomberman live is great as well.

I still love the classics and Xbox hits everything right on the head with its great and easy to use presentation and simple, effective and non-crap like online system. It's all about connectivity for me, I like being instantly connected to all of my friends with the system, I like how easy it is to make multiplayer games on LIVE no matter what game it is you pick.

The point of any system is to give the end user a fun experience. Nintendo failed me this gen and MS has succeeded.

Now I am just debating selling my Wii or not . . . still on the fence about it.

The difference between owning an XBox 360 and owning a Wii is a little like the difference between carebears and PvPers in MMOs I think. They exist in the same space, but I for one just CANNOT understand gankers and people who play on PvP servers. I guess the feeling's mutual since sometimes they look at me as if I'm something less than a gamer at times. More important to me is lots of crafter items, flavor content, storyline I can play through, PvE events, holidays, farmable items, and empty houses for RP use...

Likewise, with the XBox 360, I simply don't want voice chat, nor do I care at all for high-score leaderboards. I want a good and easy online experience, that's for sure, but just as a matter of aesthetics and convenience and not as a matter of power-features.

Glad to hear that you're enjoying your XBox 360 Mashiro! Is it true what they say about COD IV being better than Halo III though?

I'm going to take Mashiro's desertion of Nintendo as an admission of defeat in our debate about Paper Mario during my first week here. Seriously, though, I've learned through experience that it's never a good idea to sell a console that you don't have something newer with backward compatibility for. I've sold two consoles and I ended up rebuying them both later on.

Yeah I'm not sure . . .

As for selling my system the more I think about it the more I don't think I will. The games I have downloaded for the VC are more than enough reason to keep it.

The depressing thing about the Wii is that it looks much much worse on my new TV than before, Z:TP for example is near unplayable because it just looks awful. Brawl isn't so bad and galaxy is ok but still, I wish it had HD output more than ever.

The old pixel games still look decent for the most part . . .

Have you checked out our NWR blogs Mashiro? TYP (one of our staffers) recently bought an HDTV and he made a post about it! He stuck in Zelda: WW and apparently he was mesmerized by the GameCube graphics on his HDTV.

It isn't about SD or HD in the end. It's about ART. Like you point out, good 8 bit art still looks pretty no matter how high def you go.

CODIV is basically the same rehashed game that Halo 3 was. Though at least the COD series are actually fun with quite a bit of variety even if they are short. Multiplayer I would have to give to Halo but it depends what you want in a FPS game, CoD lacks vehicles while Halo has a few of them. All I know is Battlefield 2 beats both with an ugly stick.

P.S. I know what Pacman CE is, I've played it, it is still basically pacman but with spiffier graphics, larger widescreen arena, but it is still basically Pacman with not much new.

I think you forgot to put PH in there. I have a 42 inch plasma and I think TP looks great still, perhaps too many jaggies but still it is a great looking game. Then again I'm not a graphics whore and can alternate with ease between 360/PS3 HD visuals and 480p.

I'll have to check that out Kairon =) and mayhaps I'll pop in wind waker to give it a look . . . for old time sake ;)

As for pacman CE, the goal of the game is so different than the original that it makes it feel like a different game. It's tweaked gameplay and overall set up of how the stages and each mode work make it super fun, for me at least.

You cant say it's pacman with not much new because it really is a new take on an old game.

Yeah you are still eating little yellow balls and ghosts are chasing after you but the timed basis of each match and how it plays our are entirely different from the stagnant levels of old and the original goal of just clearing the stage is long gone.

Silly me I thought when you say a game has you glued to your system longer than any Wii game and makes you happy to enjoy gaming again makes it your favorite. Out of ALL the games on the system you choose Pacman CE as an example of what got you interested in gaming with games like Halo 3 as more of a footnote.

Wait, when was I upset? Where did I say I hate fun? Must be why I have close to 30 Xbox Live Arcade games and around 20 Xbox 360 games along with a PS3 and a PC.  Is it because I find it ironic that "one" of your favorite 360 games is more of a classic that could be done on any of the systems?

Have you tried Boom Blox yet? That is a great Wii game that will keep you glued.

I was being sarcastic because parts of your post were on downgrading the Wii. Personally I can enjoy games for all systems without shooting down the other with comments like "OH X game keeps my attention far more than any title on X System. Those purty HD graphics make non-HD eww and I hate those games now".  OK maybe that is an exaggeration but it gets tiring to hear different forms of that argument. So instead of getting ANGRY I get sarcastic-tastic.

Perhaps places like Gamefaqs have made me a grumpy face about that stuff but I find it silly.

Also Kairon is a stupid head for liking Farcry. Yes a STOOPID HEAD.

Crackdown was the game that did it for me, it was so much fun I have been wanting a 360 ever since. That and I fell in love with the Eternal Sonata Demo and really want the full game.

Just about every post in this thread makes you seem angry . . . maybe it's just me.

Survey says?

GP is the sole reason i haven't gotten a 360 yet. if i somehow find a game i like more than a wii game and post about it, she'll eat me alive.

just kidding i dont see any games on that platform that interest me. By the way, i just LOVE "sarcastic-tastic" its awesome"

Mashiro, do you have the component cables for the Wii? I've heard that they really show off how jaggy the Wii's graphics can be (except Medal of Honor Heroes 2 which features full screen anti-aliasing). Wii Fit is pretty jaggy, but Lost Wind is very smooth looking.

Mashiro, I hope to one day have a go on Halo 3 with you. I have yet to do an online co-op game, though I have done multi-player to death.

Wii graphics are fine on HDTV hell even a PS2 game upscaled via a PS3 looks fine as well on a HDTV. And I agree with Bill paying for online play sucks considering that games still lag like crazy.

I still find something ironic
Wii - free online play, no advertisements on console dashboards.
PS3 - free online play, no advertisements on XMB.
X360 - pay for online play, advertisements on console dashboards.

Advertisement on console dashboards for the XBox 360 help drive its high attach rate. That and not selling enough new XBox 360s each month, thereby causing a gentrified user base.

So far my online experience on the 360 has been lag free.

The "Free" online play Nintendo offers fails in comparison as does their friend system. 50 dollars a year to not have to deal with that is something I would gladly pay for.

As for my HDTV everyone is knocking it's one of the best on the market so it's hardly a bad choice =P Things are far more pixelated and blurry than on a standard def TV set for most of the Wii games. Which is sad because these games looked so good on a standard set and now they just look meh.

I dunno what size HD sets you guys have but on a 32" the graphics take a considerable hit even with the best cables for the Wii.

Amazon, failstop, and gamefly comfirm August 18th - 21st for tales of vesperia.

About the xbox live lag I have experiences healthy doses of lag and plently of drop outs.  Team Fortress 2 was the worst in this regard.

I don't know about you but I always have a sour feeling whenever I paid for xbox live. Considering that in game XMB is rumored to come some time between June - August on the PS3 Microsoft's online won't feel as superior. But I'm sure people are sick of it and it does feel like a waste especially when you feel like you arent playing as much online.

For me Wii games and even PS2 games upscaled via a PS3 look fine on HDTVs but games look "Crappier" because of how HDTVs, 480p or greater resolutions expose jaggy graphics easier.

50" rear projection DLP. Don't know what you're talking about Wii degredation on big screen because most games look sharp enough to me specially if they support progressive scan. If a game doesn't support progressive scan I will notice it immediately, even for PS2 games.

I forgot to mention that I sit 4 to 6 feet from the screen most of my playing time.

so, I have to ask this: are you sure you have your Wii hooked through component, adn have enabled the 480p option on the Wii Settings?

also, I'll probably end up getting a X360, just for RE5 (if it doesn't get a PC port... oh, and for Dead Rising, which probably will never be ported to anything =( )

360 Suggestions: Viva Pinata, Crackdown and Assassin's Creed.

Kameo and PDZ are good bargain bin pickups priced at $8 at Gamestop and even cheaper other places.

Enjoy the 360 Mashiro, I can't say I play mine as much as my Wii, but there are a nice handful of games that everyone should own.

Actually, I figured out who GP is really a plant for a while ago.  The first clue is to realize that, like all so-called females on the Internet, she's really a guy.  So we examine "her" username: GoldenPhoenix.  Based on the first clue, we remove the "ho" part and get GoldenPenix.  We removed a derogatory reference to females and revealed a pun on masculine anatomy.  That is not a coincidence.  Now note the "GoldenP" part.  That stands for Golden Proportion, which in geometry describes a rectangle that can be divided into a square and another such rectangle.  This is the next clue.  Replace "Golden P" with "Square" and you're left with "Squareenix."

Golden Phoenix is a Square-Enix shill.

Actually I try to be a equal non-biased gamer but Microsoft screwed me so many times on the customer service front and shitty unreliable hardware that they made me really bitter. Nintendo and Sony hardware has never failed me. But the 360 being my first Microsoft console left a sour note because my first 360 broke in 18 months which is unacceptable for a 400 dollar machine. The only thing that I like about the 360 is the software and the controller would of been really awesome if they didn't royally screw up the Dpad.

Apparently we don't have a Pacman CE thread on this board, so I'm going to hijack this thread.

I finally got to play Pacman CE this weekend.  I was instantly hooked.  However, never in my life have I hated the 360's D-pad more than while playing this game.  Almost every single time I died it was because the D-pad didn't respond the way I wanted it to.

Is there anything preventing the game from being brought over to WiiWare where I can play it with a non-useless controller?

Interestingly MS is bringing out a new revision of the 360 control that has a better quality dpad apparently. How the original dpad was considered acceptable I don't know.

Why?  It's not like Pac-Man is a new concept.  It's not like it's impossible (or even hard) to do on a non-HD system.  Did Microsoft fund and/or program the game?

Namco/Bandai developed them, but they like Ace Combat 6 they're 360-only.  Microsoft likely slipped them a couple million, otherwise all of those titles would at least be on Playstation Network.

I finally got this proper console but aside from racing games, almost every game sucks due to the controller. Pacman is unplayable and I can't believe there are so many FPS games for this analog stick, it's impossible to aim accurately, Far Cry Vengeance is better than bloody Far Cry 2, unbelievable. This really does feel like a huge step backwards from Wii. I still love it for Forza 2 and PGR4 though, amazing racing even if they do have crap presentation.

EDF2017 shows how a proper game design can make the analog stick problems disappear: Just make enemies huge!

What I hate more than dual analog FPS aim is dual analog shmup aim.

Anyway, any good games on the 360 worth picking up? When I look at store shelves the thing seems to be pretty low on interesting games.

It depends KDR, what kind of games do you like?  I can't imagine you liking anything that isn't on a Nintendo platform, based on your general comments on these boards.

Geometry Wars 2 is great.  You might want to check out Braid as well, although I still maintain that that game is an acquired taste.

Oh I do have like 40 games for the PS2. It just seems that "next gen" has exterminated any trace of the many genres that thing had (well, okay, traces remain but they tend to be of very low quality while game prices have of course gone up).

Quote
Geometry Wars 2 is great.  You might want to check out Braid as well, although I still maintain that that game is an acquired taste.

I already beat Braid, overall I found it overrated (the only difficult puzzles were when I didn't know about a game mechanic) but I suppose it's meant as a deconstruction of the 2D platformer (too bad it's come out at a time where many gamers don't even remember that genre anymore). I still maintain that Toki Tori was better because you knew exactly how the game would behave rather than having to guess. Anyway, this is getting off-topic.

Dual analog shmups don't work well IMO. Mouse or stylus aim, sure but pointing into a direction with the analog stick doesn't work very well (maybe because the analog stick exerts different force and friction depending on its position while mouse or stylus aim has the same forces and friction no matter where you aim).

I'm not sure about CC, I don't like beat 'em ups at all. My reaction speed is pretty slow and that doesn't work with close combat in games so I prefer ones with bullets that travel some time between shooting and hitting or missing (I also prefer higher damage systems because I hate the feeling of not damaging enemies much so I'd rather have one-shot-kills even if it means my character dies faster too). That applies to ALL genres, beat 'em ups just usually have almost zero ranged combat and tend to feel like there is no way to avoid getting hit (seriously, HOW? You move slow as molasses and can't block) so the only way to survive is to keep hitting enemies fast enough that they flinch and cannot attack. Well, the Cv games don't feel much like close combat because you retain your usual mobility while attacking, there are no combos and you can move fast enough to avoid enemy attacks. Er, sorry, off-topic again.

Anyway, it seems like modern shooters are becoming more like close combat with weapons hitting instantly and no real way to dodge, instead having to use cover and flanks (which would be equivalent to blocking and combos) along with tons of luck (because weapons are randomly inaccurate and the same approach can net you a flawless victory or death depending on how the dice or bullets fall).

In short, if you don't like Counterstrike or Madden the next-gen market has only low quality garbage to offer for you.

My biggest reason would probably be the square and mistwalker RPGs.

A quick look at Game Rankings makes it seem like the leader in quality (for japanese RPGs) is Namco-Bandai with Tales of Vesperia (83%) and Eternal Sonata (79%), then comes Mistwalker (well, listed as Microsoft Game Studios, I think that's them) scoring 78% and 77% with Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon. Square is way behind with Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery at 69% and 68%. It's funny how they all have two games on neighboring spots.

Either way, I'm not sure I'd consider these games to buy a system for but at least Sonata and Blue Dragon are fairly cheap (10€ and 30€ respectively).

I personally find Tales of Vesperia to be the only really good RPG for the 360 so far (but by really good I mean GREAT)...Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey follow the traditional formula too much (which you may actually like), but the story for Blue Dragon is pretty much non-existent...Eternal Sonata is pretty and has an amazing soundtrack (Motoi Sakuraba <3), but the story is garbage and the gameplay overly-simplistic...Infinite Undiscovery has a lot of great ideas poorly implemented, but it's an okay ARPG if you find it cheap...I haven't played Last Remnant, so I can't give any real insight into it besides friends of mine saying it's a technical mess (load times, texture ripping, etc)...

Tales of Vesperia is definitely worth it though! =D

I think I'll love Blue Dragon... because i really do enjoy toriyama art, and the concept has always intrigued me.

Problem is, I still have DQ8 sitting around not getting played... i should probably just play that instead.

I really can't decide at all.  There's also no way i have the time to play ALL of those RPGs in any reasonable amount of time anyway.

I'm also paranoid I'm just gonna get red ringed before I play enough games anyway.

Man, I can't decide.  No netflix users that want to tell me how awesome that service is and throw me over the top?  I still want to know if they are doing HD movies yet.

Supposedly they're producing a new hardware revision now that should be less prone to red-ringing (but I think I got mine before they started on that).

I wonder if anyone here even has that netflix stuff.

Oh and a word of warning, if your TV isn't a huge HDTV you may have trouble reading the text in some games since they seem to be designed for PC screens or something with a font size that you'd expect from a word processor. It often blurs due to low contrast colors and one pixel wide lines. Really bad on the eyes. Then again I can't see even twice the screen size make a difference since you'd also be twice as far away on a couch compared to my TV (I use an office chair and sit fairly close to it).

Newer heatsinks--I guess alot of the issues with red-ring of death was the motherboard was simply overheating causing it to warp.  Think it was July 07 when MS stated shipping these units so anything on stores shelves should be ok.

Blue Dragon is ridiculously cheap now.  It's $12.99 on Amazon right now.

http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Dragon-Xbox-360/dp/B000QW9D14/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1232511367&sr=8-1

By the time you beat Blue Dragon, The Last Remant will probably be in the $20 range as well.  It's already down to $39.97.

http://www.amazon.com/Last-Remnant-Xbox-360/dp/B001CMJAP6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1232511405&sr=1-1

Meanwhile, Infinite Undiscovery is a paltry $29.99.

http://www.amazon.com/Infinite-Undiscovery-Xbox-360/dp/B00149NCYW/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1232511405&sr=1-4

That's a total of $82.93 (and free shipping) for every Square and Mistwalker RPG on the 360 (I think?), for those playing along at home.

I though Blue Dragon was decent I'm not impressed with both Square-Enix games on 360 and I won't be getting Star Ocean 4 since I never was into the series. The two best 360 RPGs are Lost Odyssey and Tales of Vesperia.

Well, good luck Pale. If you thought the Wii had no games you're in for a surprise.

My 360 just RRoD'd for the 2nd time. I knew I should have got Fallout on PS3

Yep the PS3 version was/is supposedly buggier which is why I got it for 360, even though my 360 was giving off a death rattle esque sound. I've only got a Mac and apparently Fallout doesn't run on OS X, otherwise i would have got it on the computer.

Fallout 3 plays fine on 360. The big drawback is no GECK or mods.

I hope I get my 360 back before the first Fallout 3 DLC. :(

LOL, seriously. I have like 10 games for 360, and half of them I already want to get rid of.

Besides racing games, my favourite game is Condemned. Very well made game, any Condemned fan out there who's played 2 as well? I'm thinking of getting it but I read up on it and it sounds a lot worse, too much focus on magic and powers and crap apparently, the only thing I hate about the first is all the weird supernatural flashback fuzzy stuff, real buzz kill. It has a real nice survival horror vibe going on aside from that. Oh and the rooms that solely exist to say "achievement unlocked" **** off, i'm in a god damn pitch black abandoned place, way to ruin the entire mood. I turned achievements off for a REASON, why are you still telling me about them.

I got Eternal Sonata for cheap and it's actually interesting, but the gameplay is sooooooooo boring. Prince of Persia, was fun until the combat ruined it. UGH, worst combat ever in a videogame. Viva Pinata? LOL. Perfect Dark Zero? Surprisingly not bad. Kameo? LOL. Saints Row? Rather weak, but SR2 looks to be a lot better. GRAW? Absolutely ****ing horrible, one of the worst games i've ever played.

Only game i'm looking forward to on the system is Race Pro, which could take GOTY.

Dunno, I found SR to be worth the 10€ I paid for it :P. The missions really needed checkpoints though, nothing is as fun-killing as having to drive to your goal for 5 minutes every time you die (well, okay, nothing may be an exaggeration, for example driving 15 minutes or watching 15 minutes of unskippable cutscenes would be worse).

Condemned, Dead Rising and Gears of War were the titles that got blocked from release here IIRC.

Well it arrived already.  So I get a free month of xbox live gold right?  Some people I've talked to say yes, others say no.

Also, I'm enough of a Square whore that I will be playing the square games first, contrary to all of your suggestions otherwise. =P

The last offer of free Gold that I saw (came with a game) it was for 48 hours and was limited to downloads.

Amazon was selling 13 months for $30.

Yeah you do, the system will tell you (after you complete the pages upon pages of forms and don't even try reading the whole terms of service, they're book-sized). Mine expired completely unused because I had no games I'd want to play online and even if I did I couldn't practice enough in singleplayer to feel ready for going against human opponents in that timeframe.

I actually liked Condemned 2 ;) even though it's just as short as the first game (under 10 hours).   Saints Row 2 is actually quite a bit better than 1.  It's still a GTA clone but it has a bit more humor than the first game--kinda makes fun of itself.

You seriously didn't BUY Last Remnant did you Pale?  There's $60 well spent (rolls eyes) if you wanted crap in a box I would have only charged you half-price and it would be wam.

I bought my first 2 XNA community games yesterday. Weapon of Choice, and CarneyVale Showtime.

Weapon of Choice has a somewhat awkward control scheme, yet it is still enjoyable to play. Visually it looks quite good.

CarneyVale is very simple in terms of gameplay mechanics, but I think that's what makes it fun to play. Visually... this game's presentation is well above the average XNA community game.

There's another game I would get, Machiavelli's Ascent, but I am not going to because of one and only one annoying gameplay mechanic. Try the demo/trial and you will see what I mean. Otherwise it is another game with great presentation.

Neither. You should stand in front of a wall and hit your head on it repeatedly.

License? You don't pay for a license. you only pay for whatever game you want to buy. It might also not yet be available for Europe. I recall doing some small installation to play a few of the XNA demos from last year's GDC or E3 (can't recall)... wait, did you update your system into the new UI layout (NXE)? I'm certain the new menus have an option within Game Marketplace, in between Themes & Gamer pictures and Game Add-Ons, that goes by Community Games.

... After a bit of searching on the XBox site: "The Xbox LIVE Community Games are offered in the United States, Canada, ithe United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand". It's wierd how they have Spain, yet Germany is no where to be on that list. I would still check if you have a community Games section in the Game Marketplace section on your NXE dashboard.

Well I ended up starting Infinite Undiscovery tonight.  So far I think it's really really cool.  I'm only about two hours, but the story seems interesting and the first party members seem really cool.

Combat feels a little clunky, but I feel like there is some depth there if I just catch on some more.

I don't like the way the game started with so many impossible battles you have to run from though.

As far as xbox opinions overall... I think this menu system is the worst of all consoles.  It's a confusing mess.  The friend list is AWESOME though (everyone add me, I'm PaleZer0 <- last 0 is a zero).  I was so impressed the first time I saw that not only does it tell me what game my friend is playing, but also what people he's playing with when he's playing online.

Voice chat is also really cool, the fact that it just works over the whole system.

Man, the d-pad really DOES suck.  I didn't think it would be that bad. =P

Netflix seems cool so far... I started three movies just to test. One came over in HD and looked wonderful. Another was standard def but still wide screen and looked pretty good.  A third was 4:3 standard def and looked pretty crappy.  So I guess that is all just going to depend on the movie.

Well, the law here is that unrated games aren't allowed to be sold to minors and I guess MS is too kiddie to let users prove their age.

EDIT: Hm, The Maw is a pretty nice game so far, way too easy though. Reviews said the puzzles get hard, I hope I'll see those soon because so far I've progressed just fine by using things just because they were there (e.g. grabbing bees, eating morph creatures, etc).

It's good thing that the majority of 360 games use the d-pad mainly for subcommands rather than directional controls.

Well, the law here is that unrated games aren't allowed to be sold to minors and I guess MS is too kiddie to let users prove their age.

Oh snap. Good thing you mentioned the unrated part. I remember that when the XNE was launched I couldn't download any of the demos from the XNA community. There's a setting that isn't well self-explained, at least not to me, so it even made it hard for me to understand why I was getting a message like "you can't download unrated games". I had to change one setting to unrestricted and I was set to go.

Go to: System Settings > Family Settings > Console Controls > Restricted Content. Then just make it to allow, and just to make sure make the rest of the options within the Console controls to allow.

I know it might not work because from the quote I got it didn't include germany, but you never know until you try.

Hm, nope, The Maw didn't get difficult (makes me wonder how the reviewer could conclude that the puzzles are challenging). It's a pretty creative game with every level having different elements and few things getting reused but that doesn't seem to give the game any chance to develop any complex puzzzles, at most you get "figure out that transformation X can do Y". Also the game is designed so you can't fail, while that's nice in a point-and-click adventure way the mechanics mean that eating stuff is irreversible so they couldn't make any puzzles that require eating and using creatures in the right order because eating them in the wrong order would make the game unwinnable.

The dpad mostly has issues with hitting diagonals when I don't want to for me. In PSU going to the usable item selection often results in a diagonal which selects the wrong item, luckily so far it hasn't selected any consumables that I could use at the time but there's a definite risk of wasting items there.
