General Gaming / Re: Official Fallout 3 Thread

One big difference is in Oblivion I had one main sword I would repair all the time. In Fallout 3 I'm always using multiple weapons, none of which are ever completely fixed because it costs too much. Finding one specific ammo type consistently can also be difficult. What weapons I use mostly depends on what I find walking around the world and what enemies have on them.

I'm also playing good, which from what I've heard is a lot harder then playing evil.

I've found that typically the games I'm least excited for end up being my favorite. Last year my game of the year was The Orange Box, which I only picked up because I thought it was a really good deal. Since I had never played any of the games in the package, I was blown away. This Fall my most hyped for game was Little Big Planet, which I got a few days before Fallout 3 came out. I played it a bit until I got stuck, then tried out Fallout 3. So far I'm LOVING Fallout 3, which I wasn't nearly as excited for. I've put a lot more time into it (partly because of being stuck and server issues with LBP). Braid and Bully were also big surprises for me this year.

I know what you guys were saying about getting sucked into the hype so much you end up telling yourself you like a game as you play it; I did that with Kingdom Hearts 2, Grand Theft Auto 4 and countless others. Some games though, like Beyond Good & Evil, I've appreciated more later then while I was playing it.

Regarding Too Human, when Dennis Dyack made the thread on GAF asking people to post "For or Against", I was one of the first handful of people to post, which I said "For" because I hadn't played it yet and wanted to give it a chance. After the demo I was left unimpressed and decided to not pick it up.

I hope you guys read my email next episode. :)

I love never feeling completely safe. I'm always scrummaging for weapons, ammo and health. It's harder then Oblivion, but I think it makes the game better.

I'm 6 hours in now and am really enjoying it. The game has some obvious issues (some of which were in Oblivion), one being shooting outside of VATS isn't great, but I think it's fine. Where the game excels more then makes up for it, one being atmosphere.

The bad news is, they want to give him a lame Poochie style extreme makeover for America.

What are you referring to by "Poochie style?"

You must be too young for old Simpsons. :(

The demo was fun, but I'm not sold on this game yet. I'm worried it might either be too short or get old quick.

Especially after how positive he was a few months ago when TP was brought up.

I think it was better then Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction but not as good as Zack and Wiki, if that says anything about my tastes.

I beat the entire game. I enjoyed it, but I think I expected more platforming then there ended up being. The first hour is all platforming (and the game is 8 hours long), but after that it appears for sparse intervals.

The jet ski parts were also pretty lame.

I thought there was way too much fighting in Uncharted and hope the sequel leans more toward platforming. I got really tired of fighting wave after wave and would stop playing when I walked into rooms with more enemies. I think Gears does a much better job of pacing. That being said, I really enjoyed the section of the game where the enemies changed.

I'm tired of the SotN comparisons.  Both Aria and Dawn of Sorrow already bested Symphony.  It's been over ten years... we should expect far better than Symphony, rather than praying that new games will replicate that experience.

Completely disagree with Dawn of Sorrow besting Symphony and I played it BEFORE Symphony. The level design is no where near as good. Exploring the castle was what made Symphony so enjoyable; in Dawn of Sorrow I found it to be a chore and pretty linear.

I don't want game to replicate the experience but I don't want them to do a WORSE job.

If I loved Symphony of the Night but thought Dawn of Sorrow was mediocre, will I like this game?

This review seems to fall right in between IGN and 1up; it's probably the more correct score.

Hey Jonny, here's another reason why to get the Wii version of FFCC: EoT: getting the DS online sucks. I was able to years ago for Mario Kart DS, but when I tried earlier this year I had no luck.
