Nintendo Gaming / RE:Star Fox Assault
« on: February 02, 2005, 10:05:02 PM »
I'm afraid I'm going to be part of the stubborn clan too, since I enjoy the Star Fox series I'm going to have to buy this one too lol. Even with the iffy perceptions out their, but I guess I'll be one of the Gamecube sheep and get it .

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Does your Gameboy or Ds live in the ghetto?
« on: January 13, 2005, 11:46:06 PM »
So far I'm not too impressed with the PSP, the screen looks very fragile and open, I'm not too certain about how comfortable thing will be to hold. I have to agree though, I was lead to believe it was better than PS2 graphically, but it appears it is a step below. Not to mention the battery life is a HUGE kicker, and the current crop of games appear to be mainly direct ports!

xts you have some good points, but I feel you are letting personal opinion slip in there, especially referencing the GC controller. That is obviously a personal preference, and besides MS has what was considered to be the WORSE controller (though I actually like it lol) yet they succeeded, so I don't consider that a "huge" mistake. The memory card thing never was much of an issue, the majority of games only used a few blocks of them, nothing took up alot of memory except for a few games like HM and AC. So that isn't a huge mistake, should they have been larger memory wise? Perhaps, though I think that problem has been rectified and like I said it never was a make or break thing. Exclusive titles, I'll give you that and all related issues. Storage medium, to a degree, not what I call huge because 1.5 GBs is still alot, especially since you can have multiple disk games. Resident Evil 4 is proof positive you don't need a huge DVD disk to create a fantastic game!  It is not even close to the mistake of having N64 use cartridges, now that was a huge mistake!

To the editorial writer himself, I can't find anything to disagree with (Unlike that gamespot writer article that I read).

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Where did all the Gamers Go?
« on: January 13, 2005, 10:00:49 AM »
I honestly think it has more to do with image, Playstation and Xbox are considered the "Mature" systems. For example the other day I overheard three guys talking, they knew little about GC except it was "I LOVE HALO 2". Now why such a shift? Well probaly since Sony and MS started catering more to "adults" with "adult" games, so that reinforced the notion that Nintendo and its systems, along with games are I LOVE HALO 2. 3rd Party Support probaly has some to do with it, and the turn off that some viewed N64 as, but I feel image is what is the driving factor now!

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Does anyone else hate Minish Cap like me?

Lol, you guys. Leave the poor kid alone, he thinks Minish Cap is kiddish looking, and even if he has poor taste doesn't mean you have to mock him. Though it is quite funny, so maybe I don't mind it as much .

That is interesting, there is a Fzero arcade machine within 40 minutes of where I live in Washington lol. I guess I should try it out even though I've had no interest in playing the machine before .

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Mario Party 6
« on: December 13, 2004, 02:16:54 PM »
I picked up MP6 the other die and played a game with my family, definately a blast. Some of the mini games are lame (like ever other iteration of the series) but there are some truly fun, and creative mini games in it. It is funny even after all these years, I still am excited to see what new mini game will pop up while playing. The monopoly aspect of it is also very cool, along with the night and day gimmick. THe mic games are also fun except for some poor voice recognition in SOME places.

That is strange they don't mention the mike, oh well! For anyone that thinks Mario Party has overstayed its welcome, send MP6 over to my place, that series hasn't even begun to get dry to myself and my family!

Nintendo Gaming / RE:does innovative mean wreckless design?
« on: December 08, 2004, 12:33:30 PM »
I might as well jump in too, for SUper Mario 64 being a poor port, I sure am having tons of fun! It makes me believe that you have not played any poor ports if you state SM64 DS is one. Just because it doesn't have the joystick does not automatically make it a poor port! The game is a great remake of a classic game, are the controls better for N64? Yes, but that still didn't detract from me playing the game and finally getting all 150 stars. I had a blast, even if the control pad was tougher to use, there was enough new additions to this game that it provided a breath of fresh air for individuals like myself that played the heck out of the N64 SM64. Now could the DS launch have been better? Sure, but personally I do not regret any of the time I've spent playing the Nintendo DS, I've had hours upon hours of addictive fun so far with not only Mario 64 DS but also Feel the Magic, which is one game that does take advantage of most of the DS's features. So I guess if Mario 64 DS is a shoddy port, I guess I have a great time with shoddy ports then (even though it has enough new material to easily place it in the remake category).

Lol, hey I don't consider it obsessed, I mean I've had the game since November 21 .

Nintendo Gaming / Not that bad
« on: December 02, 2004, 02:52:16 PM »
I know alot have been complaining that they find the control pad with Y to run, well I just now collected all 150 stars using that control scheme! Personally I seemed to have an easier time then I did with SM64 for N64 (though that coudl be changes made to the game), but once I got used to the control pad I very seldom had a slip up. So for those having trouble with the touch pad, you may want to try out the control pad, it may be more successful for you even if it seems slippery at first, I can defiantely testify to that. BTW this is easily better than SM64, I mean how could it not? It has tons of extras, in addition to the classic stuff!

Nintendo Gaming / Power of Nintendo DS
« on: December 01, 2004, 06:27:53 PM »
Does anyone know how the NDS compares to N64 is graphics? I realize NDS lacks texture filtering (thus the sometimes grainy looking graphics), but I could sware that the games look more detailed and run smooth than they do on the N64, Mario 64 looks crisper and seems to run smooth. In addition Metroid Prime Hunters looks quite impressive even if it does have the "grainy" look to it, and runs very smooth.

Wish I could get used to the touch screen but I can't, at least I am doing quite well without it (I have 91 stars).

Anyone else comfortable using the control pad? I could never get used to the touch screen, so I started using the control pad and I've had hardly ANY problem. It seemed too "slick" at first, but once you get used to it, it works quite well.

I'm surprised there aren't more replies too! SM64 DS is shaping up to be an amazing remake of one of the best platformers ever created! It is obvious Nintendo put alot of work in this title, and I bet even veterans of the original will find a fresh experience within this title!

If I recall, the GC debuted on a Sunday, so a Sunday release date for a new system definately is not a new thing.

TalkBack / RE:Nintendo Releases tons of Video
« on: November 03, 2004, 09:29:20 PM »
Am I the only one excited for Nintendo DS? The games are looking quite stunning, especially those that appear to use the unique features fo the Nintendo (such as the Kirby game). I'm not sure what people were saying when they stated Nintendo nor other developers were taking creative advantage of the DS, because I definately see it in those videos!
